Reacting to Euphoria High Fashion on Tik Tok

While HBO MAX's Euphoria Season 2 is still only just heating up, Tik Tok created a trend looking at the realistic and unrealistic elements of the cast's school uniforms. Creators began their videos by showcasing what they normally would wear to school in the United States and then check back in wearing some outfits that would certainly never pass a realistic dress code. It was a fun trend, as the show truly is somewhat deluded in terms of lack of proper school gear for the Euphoria students, but the trend just goes to show how much the show reflects the going out wardrobe of many around the country. Not only is there no dress code at this school, but also apparently no teachers, classes, or homework. There are never any classroom scenes, no teachers as characters, we saw a glimpse of a principal and he let Lexi put on a self- written play without any drama teacher supervision or any adult reading it first. Nobody ever has homework or studies for tests, even though they are mostly seniors probably applying to colleges and their GPA will be important. The only school activities are sportsball for boys and cheerleading for girls. And hanging out in the restroom seemingly all day.

@Deidra J you don't have to see them doing it, but even one line of dialog about actual school work could be added for realism. They could have one character ask another one, 'did you do the assignment yet', or 'can we study together?', or say "i'm grounded because i got a bad grade on that last test'. Or someone get benched from cheerleading for bad grades (most varsity sports require you to keep your grades up in order to participate) Have them talk about applying to colleges. or literally anything. One line of dialog. The standards are pretty low here!

REAL. i was a dresscode-pushing edgy tumblr kid in high school and some of my outfits weren’t thaaaaaat far off from euphoria. i wore tiny crop tops and tiny skirts or big-pants-tiny-shirt or big-shirt-tiny-shorts on the daily with full glam makeup including blue and purple liquid lipsticks and giant winged liner. i felt seen by maddy when euphoria came out.

i’m not really surprised about the no backpacks thing. here in sweden pretty much no one brings a backpack, definitely not the “popular” kids. everyone dresses up for school in the big cities, and probably smaller cities too. no like extreme cutouts or high heels, but we dress to impress. also, most high schools use computers in class so we don’t bring books, notebooks or pencils to school. if we need any of that the school provides lockers for us to keep out things in, and we usually borrow pencils for tests. this is only my experience, but from what i’ve gathered most high schools where i live (gothenburg) are the same. the stereotypes about scandinavians being beautiful and well dressed are true, and it definitely applies to school.

I love Euphoria! I'm 35 so it's my guilty pleasure and it also reminds me of all the drama I went through in High School but the outfits are completely comical bc they're not even close to being realistic. I went to a public school and we couldn't show even our shoulders or wear short/skirts that came above our fingertips if we laid our arms flat against our legs (I'm sure most of u understand what I'm saying) much less walk around with our tits out and midriff showing. I don't think that most people understand that the actors/actresses playing these characters are a lot older than the average high schooler, with Maddie being only 3 years younger than me. I understand it bc they have many graphic scenes that include sex, drugs, and under age drinking. I live for the make up looks though, they slay with the make up and some of the outfits too!

I'm currently a senior so to answer your question at 8:00, yes but that's mainly because at my school our dress code is pretty much non-existent in the first place (probably cause they know kids won't listen anyway, as long as you have everything covered and aren't in underwear you're fine). Despite it being winter and like 40-60 degrees here, I see about 2-3 girls or more a day at my school in a crop top of some kind, usually a small t-shirt, and a pair of low rise jeans

I live in New Zealand, and my high school was a uniform school but we'd have non-uniform days and I'd actually wear some of this shit. I'd come to school in a crop top so small it was almost showing my bra (or most of the time was) and a shear shirt over it, and either fully ripped jeans or booty shorts. That was my go-to look haha never did I turn up to school in heels tho jesus chirst how do you walk all day in those 👀
