Serbian fans have a tradition of being louder than the Euroleague anthem before the start of the game. There are no excuses! Greetings from Serbia! Look for the last games in the calendar year when Partizan's fans donate over 20,000 plush toys to orphanages. This is a tradition every year, such as during Partizan-Virtus 2023, for example. Everyone must come with at least one toy, and Partizan's sponsors then double the total number of toys.

As a Zvezda fan, I think Partizan make the best atmosphere pre game. Zvezda is louder and more intimidating during the anthem and we created this tradition of outloudong the anthem back in 2015 and do it every single game. I think since then a lot are trying to copy. During the game it’s hard to tell, but I’ve seen matches where Partizan fans were poor in comparison to Zvezda. It depends on the match up and the what is happening on the court.

I really RESPECT the fact that you perform your national anthem before the game. Please, call it the Eternal Derby, showing respect to the rivalry, same as with the El Clasico. Zvezda started the chant as a form of defiance and the middle finger to the Euroleague after the death of Marko Ivković in Istanbul and the club was penalised for the death of their own fan in an away game. The idea was to "overpower" the Eurleague "anthem" and disrespect it's leadership (a quid pro quo so to say). The words are simple "Crvena Zvezda ale ale ale..." and the melody of the "anthem". Why and when Partizan started I really cannot say.

10:00 the chant is the same melody but different words for Partizan and the red-white team. Its a melody from Italy, victor's march from Giuseppe Verdi's opera Aida, taken from football games over there. Fans sing different words with the melody. And of course uncultured and biased fans of Crvena zvezda will probably swarm the comments saying it was them who invented the song before one of the greatest Italian composers of 19th century. They are that insolent.

Im sure they know its not theirs as others have done it before them in football matches, but didnt they use it before Partizan fans. So realistically you are smearing red star fans while you used it after they started using it. Both of the teams names suck. Partizan represents the Communist Occupiers of Serbia and were funded by a Croatian Fascist Franjo. Red Star represent the Satanic Communist Red star which Partizan also has in their Logo. As a Serb I would rather them get rid of those names and use something Patriotic to Serbia, and not something from a oppressive Ideology that slaughtered its own people. Talking about Uncultured.

If you see Olympiacos in football there are coreos, pyroshows and bombs (ps:they got banned last year because a pao player got "ear problem" from a bomb that blasted next to him after Olympiacos scored a goal and now everything is more strict...) you will easily understand that the main reason is 1st and main reason is the stadium where the ultras are 30 meters away from the court 2nd is that not all fans are inside when the game start because goverment added a special proccess of identification in order to get in the stadium thats why in SEF everyone gets inside little by little 3d reason also includes the 1st one and its that most fans prefer football over basketball because of course you would prefer to sing with almost 10 thousand ultras side by side infront of the teams rather than go to SEF and sing with 2k max ultras since ultras can only have a small part of SEF that is also the furthest from the court... So in conclusion they dont feel that they can impact the other teams like in football... Maybe in some games like Olympiacos Monaco game 5 for example that more ultras get inside or with Panathinaikos the pregame is hotter with almost stadium singing 1hour before the beggining... As olympiacos fans we are patiently waiting in these months that the SEF will finaly belong to olympiacos as promised by the goverment just like OAKA with pao and it will finaly become an arena propably looking like Fener or Efes one with 16k capacity as we know so more ultras inside propably 4-5k just behind the basket it will be a different story pregame mid game full game... If you watch a football match of oly you will understand how different the whole situtation will be and if you think pao fans can be compared to ours you are confused by the stadium you have no clue... Right now gate 7 fans have no motivation to go to SEF and sing when they can go in football where we got the Conference and we go for Europa league and football is the main sport in Greece many dont even watch basketball, as for pao fans they ONLY have basketball left so of course all their main ultras go there while ours are mostly in football (for now) to help you understand we had a basketball game in SEF and at the same time an away game in football two times this year... Both times we sent 6k fans in Romania on thursday and 4k in away game in Greece on Sunday when we were playing against pao in SEF😂 So as you can see many prefer go support an away football against a low level greek team than go to SEF vs PAO😂

I am from Serbia and a supporter of Crvena Zvezda. The reason we sing louder and stronger during the EuroLeague anthem is as follows. Around 10 years ago, a tragedy occurred in Istanbul. We were playing a game against Galatasaray, and a fight broke out between fans, during which one of our supporters lost his life. The EuroLeague punished us as visiting fans and also penalized the club. A great injustice was done to us, as is often the case because we are Serbian. Initially, we started booing louder than the anthem, but over time, we began to sing... and it has now become a tradition. Partizan later adopted this from us.

You really need to watch full eternal derby because it was most emotional pre-game ever because of our fan Marko Ivkovic who was killed in Istanbul and on the day of derby was a 10 year of his death and you should put that in the video. Sportski Pozdrav.

As a Partizan fan, I must give an edge to our atmosphere because we are singing an iconic anthem before every match for a decades. Not sure why Zvezda fans are not using some of their anthems like "Dobro znaj...", it would be better than "Crvena Zvezda leee, nananana...". But that atmosphere against CSKA was loud ngl.

Hi, I'm Crvena Zvezda fan from Serbia. 14:41 melody of this chant is Triumphal March from Aida by Giuseppe Verdi. kzbin.info/www/bejne/omTaZXxjgKqfrrMsi=-JZWJfqhdvnV1Ggc This melody is often used by various fans in many countries. For example Borussia Dortmund fans are using this melody on their Westfalen stadium. Words that Crvena Zvezda fans are singing are repeating name of Crvena Zvezda. This chant is used more on basketball matches, you will not hear this often on football matches of Crvena Zvezda. It's not one of my favorites chants, there are more emotional and profound chants, but it's good for making atmosphere. I like more chants from football matches. Crvena Zvedza have mostly different chants for football and basketball matches. As far as I know Partizan fans are not using this melody, you have maybe heard something similar. But there are some chants of Crvena Zvezda and Partizan that have same melody, but words are always different. And that chants with same melody are basically offensive answer to opponent's chant, or try to make fun of the opponent's song.

Selecting a game between Olympiakos vs Real Madrid is not the same as Panathinaikos vs Olympiakos. There is no serious rivarly in the first. Of course fans will be more passionate during the latter :) Check Aris B.C. vs Paok and then Real Madrid vs Alba for instance! There will be a significant diffirence 😜

As an Oly fan i can say that we are lazy ;P , while the team gets us going we start going also.Many people are late in games also (typical Greek theme on every occasion to do everything last minute).Most people hate the stadium as is , that discourages them to do anything etc. I would recommend to watch the 4th quarter vs Paris, the whole stadium was on their feet that day and screaming , i couldnt even hear my brother beside me.
@kzs198217 күн бұрын
The Crvena Zvezda entry chant is actually brutally simple "Crvena Zvezda aleee (like French allez)" with some alterations to "Zvezda aleee" and Zvezda ohohoh". This simple one was chose as very synchable and the whole thing started instead of booing Eureoleague anthem after being sanctioned for the incident in Istanbul when one of ultras got killed in a fight with Galatasaray fans.

Maccabi fans are singing the national anthem before every euroleague game, without the team playing it actually. It started spontaneously during the 03/04 season and remained since then. Unfortunately there weren't any games in Tel Aviv for a while, so you couldn't see it as well...
@dimitriosgalanis46315 күн бұрын
First, let's clarify a few things. Excluding Žalgiris, for which I can't express an opinion, the Serbian, Greek, and Turkish stands are primarily filled not with basketball fans but with general supporters of the clubs, mostly coming from football rivalries. There are many reasons why fan engagement is not as active during pre-game events anymore. Regarding Greece specifically, I believe, among others, these two reasons stand out: The cost of tickets. Ticket prices have tripled over the last five years. In the past, you could attend a EuroLeague game with a €10 ticket, but now you need at least €30. This has significantly changed the composition of the stands, shifting from more hardcore fans to softer audiences. This is something even the fans themselves, especially Panathinaikos supporters, acknowledge. Despite high occupancy rates, their stadium is noticeably quieter compared to previous years. Olympiacos and Panathinaikos are currently the strongest teams in the EuroLeague, by far. This has reduced the need for fans to boost their teams, knowing they are superior. Now, it’s up to the teams themselves to prove their dominance. This contrasts with previous seasons when theoretically stronger teams like CSKA Moscow or Real Madrid would visit, and fans felt the need to "help" their team overcome the disadvantage. Now, for Greek fans, these matches feel routine. Both teams are super favorites that simply need to confirm their title, so they no longer need that extra push.
@RictusErectus0Ай бұрын
Three comments: 1. Žalgiris - C. Zvezda's newly founded rivalry comes from several Kaunas games (since Motiejunas became Euroleague's CEO) where, from Zvezda's perspective, we were robbed by the officials. And the political thing that I won't name. 2. Zvezda's pre-game chanting is about being over Euroleague's anthem from (I think) 2009. when Zvezda's fan was killed in Instanbul, game vs Galatasaray (coach Ergin Ataman) and Euroleague did nothing to even condemn this act. This is why you can see the flag with Strawberry in each Zvezda's game, the guy that was killed had the nickname "Strawberry". 3. As a Zvezda fan, I must admit Partizan has better cheering during the whole game. I was at the last derby, Zvezda was the home team, and there were like 10x less Partizan fans. But throughout the whole game, they were louder than Zvezda's fans. Zvezda's fans were like theatre visitors

from Žalgiris perspective the rivalry started with the home game against Zvezda in 2022.

Maccabi used to have a great atmosphere too, it all depends on people’s temperaments.. Lithuanians care too much of what people will say or think if they’ll see them going mad…

10:13 nothing special about the chant as it does not have words. The thing is NOT TO HEAR the Euroleague anthem. No matter how loud it is, the fans gonna be louder. And the reason is: the Euroleague is a mob. They don't respect Serbia as a country at all, not to mention clubs, so we tell them that our emotions toward them are the same as theirs toward us, or even worse. So simple. And btw, the chant is Verdi's Aida.
