Princess Diana went through a period where she wore exactly the same outfit to the gym every day (the virgin Atlantic sweatshirt) in an effort to decrease the value of the photographs to try to stop the paparazzi hounding her on her way to the gym every day. She figured if the photos were the same as every other time they'd be worth nothing. The silhouette is so identifiable because it was intentionally exactly the same every time in an effort to be boring. Royal style might be fairly blah most of the time, but it's fascinating how strategic all of their style choices are.

Daniel Radcliffe did a similar thing when he was on Broadway doing How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying - He wore the same outfit every night that he stage-dored with the same intention. I wouldn't be surprised if he (or his team) got the idea from Diana doing it.

That was a very common outfit in the 90's. I was a kid then and lived in a baggy tshirt and bike shorts in summer and leggings and baggy sweater in winter. Target sold matching sets. I remember I had purple and black floral bike shorts with a matching purple tshirt with a huge flower on it. Paired with one of those Blossom hats (the tv show). It was denim bucket hat and the front folded up and had a big sunflower 🌻 on it. I refused to partake when bike shorts came back in fashion though. And the ugly chunky sneakers and dad sandals.

as a member of the corset apologist camp, there are fashion corsets and corsets meant for every day. the historical corset barely ever was a fashion corset because nobody has money for that. the every day corset was used mainly for support and achieving the shilouette of the decade. they didn’t press down on any organs. usually the opposite was the case: if your body didn’t fill the corset in all the right places you would just add some padding there. this was even the case in high fashion circles, the waist didn’t look small because it was actually small but because in proportion to the hips it was smaller than maybe a normal person would actually be. lacing down meant that you could afford not to work or move a lot in your day but even then, those people didn’t lace down all day every day, only if there was an occasion to do so. modern corsets are honestly probably more fit to the stereotype than historical corsets

I find it hilarious that there's a bag out there called Cagole hahaha it's a derogatory term in southern France for a certain type of woman that is basically "too much" in personality and looks, in a tasteless way, and maybe a bit stupid. Kinda similar to bimbo but more loud and less sexy. It's being reclaimed a little nowadays but still has that strong negative connotation. I lived in SOCAL for a few years. Winter does get cooler than you would expect. Also, as a dry desert climate, night temperatures are significantly colder than day most of the year. I can see bringing a coat with you to a long workday. I wouldn't wear it during the day though.

If you're interested on the history of corsetry or stays, I would refer you to Bernadette Banner and Abbey Cox, both of whom have worn corsets/stays themselves regularly and have talked about their experiences. Ill fitting or tight laced corsets certainly were an issue, however evidence suggests that this was only occurring in a small percentage of cases, the same way that only Kimmy K would sew herself into a dress she couldn't pee in.

People who sing opera still wear corsets on stage for period appropriate costuming. As long as it is laced correctly, you don't want it too tight or too loose, you can definitely sing in one. Some people actually prefer to sing in a corset because you can push against it for support. I don't know how that all lines up for pop singing though. The technique is a little different.

Her style is literally one of the most relatable and wearable outfits that a lot of girls would choose. Madison definitely sells on Asian standards of fashion I guess American fashion is just more diverse and playful. Like Chanel and Dior is popular in Asia, if you see Korean, Chinese and other Asian fashion it's more on the old money look but in the West celebs would often go with Versace, lux brands that is more on the glam and modern day trend. At this rate fashion is just personal. Love Madison and Kaia's style.
