I have listened to Zjerm about 50 times in the live version, I am addicted. I think the artists were not well known, which means they don't have much money. They are a treasure and I love that their project get's more attention now.

When Beatrice is doing her thing... her movements, her styling, her affect... All of it gives me strong Siouxsie Sioux vibes. I can't explain it.

She just has this quality that draws you in, her performance just seems so believable because you see her putting her entire heart into it. The song itself is just amazing, musically it's so dynamic and unique. I genuinely love it, I think on the Eurovision stage with a more polished stage performance and creatively using camera angles it can do really well, it's still early days but I absolutely love it.

I liked a few of the songs from the Albanian national selection, but the live performance by this unusual duo was captivating. I like their song, and I think Albania is going to easily qualify and could potentially be on the left side of the scoreboard in the finals. So much potential!

I really hope that "Zjerm" is going to win further the Eurovision as well. It deserves to be listen everywhere.. in all the radios.. The meaning of this song is to bring light in the dark and remember to give credit to good people and without a name that in the meantime are dancing in their spirit and doing great things and shine! I told Georgi this is how I’m now entering every room, slowly lowered from the ceiling like a rag doll 😂 I like the winner song, wasn’t my favorite but I like it. To my non-Albanian ears it sounds Albanian and that is appreciated and it is also catchy. “The brother” moment 🤣😂… I was waiting for you to comment on that hahaha… glad you had a great holiday and happy you went back to classic Shane with the intro soundtrack. 🩷

Hope you had a wonderful break and festive period Shane🥰 I won’t lie i’m still gutted Elvana won’t be representing Albania, i can however say i totally agreed even watching the performance live back then that i felt it was “too showy and look at me” at times… Was it still my favourite? Absolutely tho 😭 Sadly my thoughts regarding Zjerm being ruined by the guy’s spoken word part prior to the live performances only grew bigger even from the SF to Final. I still like the song but that part kills it so in the end it was my 4th behind Alis and Forenc who both gave very impressive performances 👏

The more i listen to it, the more i think it could use a little revamp actually. Towards the second half it gets a bit same same-y. The studio version sounds already richer than this but some layers could be added

Hi Shane, nice to see you and glimpses of your life, in a beautiful animal landscape 😊🐘. I am happy for your passion for Elvanas song and how dearly you will carry it with you, but also agree with all your thoughts about the staging and choreography...the various elements felt too stilted and planned, which took away from the "high-energy pumping carnival feel". I didn't get any feeling unfortunately. While I was blown away by Shkodra Elektronikes performance, especially Beatrices vocals and charismatic stage language. The song sailed up to be my favorite before the performance. It has a fantastic dynamic where all the interacting elements through their interaction and contrasts form something very beautiful, captivating, stimulating, dreamy, inspiring. Ethnic, rhythm, angelic voice, undulating strings, electro, percussion, a rewarding message... It grabbed me, without knowing the lyrics it was like it spoke to me at night when I have trouble sleeping (sometimes in pain) "Create in me a pure heart. In my night I send you the light." ❤️. The strings together with the fantastic lyrics make this something bigger, significant and contemplative. Many say that the man's voice adds nothing, but if you follow the lyrics you understand its importance and his "serious" expression. He forms an important contrast in the dynamics of the song and the lyrics. I hope they don't change the song or the language, and I dare to believe that this one will qualify for the final. I kinda liked the guy and his part lol. It is intense and catches you off guard. But that’s not necessarily bad, you will remember this performance also because of how he stares at you haha.

Loved your reaction! I felt the same for both performances. Elvana’s song was fun, and there were too many slow, dramatic moments that felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. Still well performed by her, but the staging let it down. Shkodra Elektronike just felt natural and exciting. Can’t wait to see how they dramatize and improve-especially the guy’s part-with screens, lighting, camerawork, and the stage mountains. For some reason, every time I see this performance, I get visions of what I imagine they were aiming for: a giant Wizard of Oz head looming over her on a screen with lots of effects. Just read the lyrics in English, and that’s probably not what they’ll do, but it fits what we’ve seen so far. He’s the anger and despair, she’s the hope. Having them lost in those Swiss mountains could be really theatrical. Think they’re climbable or just on-screen effects…?

In comparison to previous FIKs there were some amazing entries this year. I put this down to the changes and development brought about by the new artistic director for FIK 63 Elhaida Dani. Yes, there were still issues (in my view mainly technical), but the entries were of a higher quality, it was more polished and voting was definitely more transparent (SMS votes were from within Albania and Kosovo, the online voting was to give the Albanian diaspora a say ... that included me!! Yay 😁). Shkodra Electronic were amazing, the final results were close and I was one proud Aussie Albanian. Oh and big shout out to Orgesa Zaimi, who just rocked it. That woman was amazing.

I was waiting for your reaction Shane. First happy new year. Ok Elvana song is nice but I don’t see any special to her song is generic is nice for clubs beaches but Zjerm is a different level is ethnic bop amazing vocals and performance. They both living in Italy are originally from Shkodra so they sing or speak with northern dialect Zjerm is zjarr fire. Also lyrics are powerful and will stay in Albanian. They will release an album in three months. Didn’t know them but I listen to few songs they have released and are amazing. Beatrice vocals are captivating. The guy kole is not a singer he is a producer the interesting part is that he wrote his lyrics and Beatrice wrote hers. They have so good chemistry

Please guys! I want to say that you must listen the english lyrics. You will know why man sings there and please stay rational when you judge. It is not the outside part that all people see. Please educate yourself by knowing the meaning of the song. Firstly it is the text. Please listen the english lyrics... Love from Shkodra, Albania.

Even if the song was in English, that doesn't mean his delivery and performance couldn't be better. His part just feels a bit amateurish compared to her part. Has nothing to do with the meaning of the song.

Whilst Karnaval was more of an ear worm, I’m glad this one the national final. This is a really great entry from Albania. I would like a small revamp (not in English!) because the construction is a bit too simplistic in my opinion. I know the 2nd verse is different but we’re really dealing with verse-chorus-verse-chorus with no real bridge, the climax is a bit rushed. Think some of the instrumental could be shortened, particularly after the 1st chorus to add in another section.

I agree with you that this has a lot of potential and they shouldn’t revamp the song or translate it to English (that would be horrible). But they do need to revamp the staging, especially “the brother” on stage (lol) - I think the way he’s just standing there with the drum pad is kind of awkward and when he becomes the focus the performance seems to lose its momentum. But if they figure that part out then I think it can do very well. It gives me Eurovision 2010s vibes, in a good way.

Such a fair summation of FiK 63 Shane. I, too loved Elvana but was a huge stan of Orgesa this year. That is until I saw the "performance"?....maybe I'm being unfair but imo, there wasn't one. Pare is a real bop and Orgesa just stood there. Zero movement. Unbelievable. Elvana on the other hand seemed to go in the opposite direction. Set piece movements which they seemed determined to get in whether or not they were song appropriate. Ended up being distracting. Shkroder Elektronike on the other hand seemed to just go with the vibe and it certainly paid dividends. Hand and headography just fitted. Almost as if this was their baby and loving it. And certainly wouldn't be throwing the baby out with the dishwater. Apologies for lame 2025 analogies but you get my drift. Albania chose well. Ps. What you were confused with Shane was the voting? Jury, sms was national vote and online was a diaspora vote. So with the winners triumphant in jury and sms, I think undoubtedly the end result was appropriate

@@ShanesEurovisionReview the diaspora vote was mostly non Albanian ESC fans. Albanian audience loved Zjerm because of lyrics, musical texture, authenticity, unique style etc. This was a turning point in musical taste of Albanians. They said enough to cheap music. Simple as that

Karnaval was disappointing, Elvana's performance more than disappointing. 2nd place was for Elvana as an artist, but Karnaval didn't deserve even the final in FiK. On the other hand, Zjerm was the best offering from Albania this year.

I didn't like the Albanian entries from the last three years. This year that changes. Zjerm is really good, captivating and has a special “magic” (at least for me). I just hope they don't come up with the idea of ​​a revamp with a language change again. Last year this turned a mediocre song into a bad song (in my opinion). Elvanna's song didn't make it for me. But I'm not a big fan of girl bops or dance breaks, so that's not surprising.
