I think I can answer the question about why people are higher ranks than they should be. It's probably because you can't rematch endlessly anymore. To explain I was stuck in blue during T7 because I would rematch myself to a demotion trying to beat people who were clearly better just to learn. I'm not horrible, but no way I should be Tekken King. Even if I run into a match up I don't know that's only two losses and I may not see them again.

@aflockofbricks89884 күн бұрын
This is exactly what he is. I have a friend who plays jack-8 who hit tgs and he has no idea what frame data is, or how it works. Doesn't know how the lab works, doesn't care. Throws out his flowchart, no punishing, etc.. playing every day he hit tgs in 3 weeks. The ranked system right now rewards grinding over skill like most ranked systems, but I think the real problem is that heat smashes and rage arts are too strong. In a Ft3 setting, shit like jack8s heat smash and his bluespark grab can end the match so fast there's no time for each player to demonstrate their offense/defense. Not to mention plugging. Insane that issue hasn't been changed.
@MTcurser3 күн бұрын
@aflockofbricks8988 I main Jack8 and his Heat smash may be fast but it's trash when you duck the first hit and block the second which pushes you back now if you were to use other characters like Jin and Dragunov their heat smash has 3 hits which is bs because they can mix you up after you block so props to your friend because Jack8 you need to rely on his gimmicks because he has trash punishes and his hit box is complete nonsense compared to the bears. I can assure you grinding to TGS is honestly pretty good you don't get there without knowing how to punish gimmicks can only get you so far. I don't lab my matches or frames but from so many losses I know what works and what doesn't in blue ranks.
@RuTo94Күн бұрын
@@aflockofbricks8988I’m not ashamed to admit it but being in GoD I don’t know sht about frame data I just know the punishes from playing the characters over and over to learn what to press. I even still do the wrong punishes majority of the time. I play based on how the first round goes if they play super aggressive I try to space a little while poking and vice versa I play aggressive if they start spacing and poking. One of the biggest issues is the rate of improvement. I hate to admit it but rank doesn't matter in QP. Hardly any good players in QP....just players tryna play the game nothin more. Ppl like GM and specific GOD feel this way bc they grind to max points or max rank for multiple characters meaning for a long period of time in GM's case, hes faced nothing but tournament players and super sweats. The majority of ppl w/ the rank sit at the entry to the rank and proceed to play worst players in QP. As we see, getting the rank and quitting rank play has its setbacks. Something for us all to consider regardless of rank. Also, these could be ppl who got the rank early on, quit playin, and coming back.

@@chishiu12 I probably should’ve said more. When you truly practice a character and learn the fundamentals of a game. Taking a break won’t diminish your skills that much. What we saw from that Jin player was his skill level. They designed Jin in a way where you could get to god ranked with basically average to below average skill. Someone who plays like him should be at bushin to tekken king. But tekken 8 holds your hand with the heat system. Making almost everything Jin has easy he shouldn’t have electric from stance absolutely not. And his zen stance needs a rework. ALSO KEEP IN MIND. I’m a Jin main. All through tekken 7 until now.
@chishiu123 күн бұрын
@1AdA-Greats I can't debate any of that as I'm not a jin main. But I will say keep in mind how u THINK the game should be played is limited to yourself, and isn't a standard for everyone else...pro or not. That mindset is toxic. Play how u want and most of all enjoy the game. Everyone's goals aren't the same and you got to be ok with that.
@1AdA-Greats3 күн бұрын
@@chishiu12 they made the game extremely simple to appeal to new players. You can’t buff offense and nerf defense then expect the game to be fine. Fighting games operate in a specific way. You literally had an eddy bot going around winning games by hitting one button. You can call my ideals toxic all you want but do you really think a fighting game should be designed that way. All they care about is money. Tekken has never been this way before. It’s not necessary funny when your opponent pops heat and you die from blocking. I’m not the only one saying this pro, casually and intermediate players share this mindset.

It seems like people started saying "it's okay to mash sometimes" but forgot why; i'll give you an example. Bryan b1 on block, you respond with sidestepping his frame traps -> now he goes for b1 into homing moves, this is i10 interruptable - but you shouldn't ALWAYS interrupt it because the mid mid homing is unsafe and the mid high is duckable. You're supposed to layer your mind game If you have good block discipline vs a nina for example, they are gonna start using lows, but you can duck her fast low followups even on hit, db4 is only +4 so it's not like she can chain them together without the risk of being interrupted, so now she's "stuck" with d2 and generic d4 Letting a death fist or hei ff2 go unpunished until late in the round when you can just uf3+4 it with devil jin is almost the reverse concept. Every interaction whether you like it or not you and your opponent are programming eachother and it's your job to "inject" more programming into your opponent, and try to avoid being programmed yourself This is the difference between dumb and smart mashing that goes over peoples heads it seems

This probably wouldn't have happened or at least not this obvious if they didn't remove ranks. This might be the reason why there's some points while ranking that have a drastic change in difficulty like some players have pointed out especially once reached Tekken king and probably even in some of the lower ranks. Hope they'll add some of the older ranks back or even new ones I'll be fine with tbh. Imo this change could improve a fairer distribution of skill among players.
