Reacting to Genshin Impact 4.8 and New Outfits! ...How are we feeling?

HELLO! Despite my tone I am happy that so many are looking forward to this. I would be too if I was caught up. If there aren't spoilers for previous events that had happened, I may give it a try. I'd love to see what I could potentially piece together... at a disadvantage. XD; Regardless, thanks for watching, and thanks for listening to my takes whether or not you agree with them. :)

People are excited by the summer event since they release a big new map with new puzzles and they always sneak in hints about the next nation, like 2 years ago you straight up get to talk to nahida and find out she has dream powers

For a lot of major events they've started having a "quick start" option so you don't necessarily have to be up to date on the story to participate (usually as long as you've finished the prologue in Mondstadt). That said, it comes with a big caveat that you might run into spoilers if you do so. There was a Fontaine event a while back that had a particularly large, unavoidable spoiler that a lot of people were upset about running into if they played the event before finishing the Archon quest, for example. Generally in past summer events they haven't really put in spoilers like that. They're more like side-stories with some foreshadowing of future story stuff. But of course, since they involve characters you have yet to meet in the story it's entirely possible there will be dialogue with them that spoils story content you haven't seen yet simply because of how the conversation happens to flow. tl;dr: you'll probably be able to play it without being caught up but you will probably also run into spoilers of some flavor

Maaaannn I'd love to play it but the chance of spoilers and hanging around characters that I SHOULDN'T know yet is kinda annoying. I'll probably have to see what the discord says after others get a chance to go through it. :')

the thing about summer update is on paper they dont look much but they literally foreshadow the story of upcoming archon quest just like the last summer update it foreshadow the entire archon quest for fontain we just dont know it yet at the time when we realize it we already finish the archon quest! its very clever way of teasing the next regions story while having to enjoy some light hearted story before we go to the next region. all i can say is dont dismiss this event!

the story doesn't need to be very lighthearted though, I loved the 2-year-old summer event when they showed Kazuha, Mona, Fischl and Xinyan inner world, struggles and past, it was very cool, character-centered and sometimes philosophical, but I didn't like the last year summer event at all, besides foreshadowing archon quest it's story was very dull, boring, childish and had nothing to do with the characters that participated in the event. This one from the trailer seems more like last year event sadly, but I hope for the best.

agree on the summer event with Kazuha Mona Fishl Xinyan its Great! but heavily Disagree on the last year summer event how is the Character had nothing to do with the story??? lets see. Klee - her mother is Alice and Alice Know's Idyia(the Osianid that maintained the bottle land) so she want klee to have fun there! Checks out! Kaeya - Everyone is busy so she's Klee's Guardian. Checks Out! Eula - she's looking for her relative turns out his trap inside the bottle land and his one of the reason its F@ck up inside the bottle. Checks out! Colei - tighnari was suppose to be our guide but his busy so Colei was the replacement Guide and it doesn't make sense if tighnari is out guide because we are going to the desert which his weakness. Checks Out! Kokomi - she's searching for the pearl of her ancestor's Kokomi has the Casket for the Pearl and it act's as a radar for the pearl and turns out its inside the Bottle land. Checks out! i dont know man all of them have a reason to be there! theres more reason but i want it to keep it short and this is long already so imma stop here.

@kazukiph.6976 I meant not the reason to be on the event but the event actually showing characters past, their feelings and motivations, the best events imo were the ones that felt like characters storyquests. Like that mondstadt event with Collei and Sucrose - that was a great Collei representation, as an example. And of course that summer event with Kazuha, Mona etc. as probably the best example possible

I'm actually excited for the summer event, since by now we know that summer events are sneaky teasers before new nation. They give enough hints to theorize, but not enough to fully figure out new Archon quests, so pretty much they are like Genshins children books xd I also prefer Nilou's original design, but I still got excited since it immediately made me think of Nabu Malikata ('cuz violet colours + padisarah). Kirara's outfit I heard has something to do with new book from imaginarium theater, haven't read that one yet thou. I'd love to see you playing summer event (ofc if you'll be able to, and if it won't contain spoilers) and see what theories new player could make of it

They tend to use the story of the summer events to kind of foreshadow the next nation's story in ways that might not seem obvious at the time. So, exciting if you're into that sort of thing, but not something you absolutely have to experience. And it's still a shame that these events go away... There's no reason you shouldn't be able to play this in the future in its proper place. They can reduce or take away the rewards if that's what they're worried about. I don't know what requirements there will be, but I imagine it won't be intended for people who aren't caught up with the story. Maybe someone else can give better info for you there. I'm always amazed how at well you pick up the details on these character designs compared to me. I didn't notice all the obvious "I'm a cat" things in Kirara's design, but now it seems obvious once it's pointed out. I also agree that Nilou's original design is better, while the new one is also great. I wouldn't spend 30(?) dollars for it.

Glad you enjoyed! Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'd love to do the events but because of the risk of spoilers it kinda worries me. I'm sure this will be a good time for most people, especially those who are really into the story and lore. One day I'll catch up and be amongst them. :')

well Kirara IS a cat and the courier company where she works has a cat theme, however this new skin of hers makes reference to the new book written by the witch Andersdotter which references the fairy tale of Puss in boots Nilou on the other hand, is literally a cosplayer of Nabu Malikata the goddess of flowers, everything about her has her theme and that's why this skin of hers has a Sumeru rose, its like Kaveh making reference to King Deshret in design

kirara's outfit not having a boots because she prefers to be touching the ground with her own cat feet 7:53 they are fontain cloths and fontain is like 1900 cloths designs so you will see some crazy design choice but hey its free so i aint complaining and she's cuter on this outfit. nilou's outfit well for some reason hoyo likes blue outfit so expect more of it! also one thing you should know about outfit in genshin is they dont make it just for looks they dont just pick 2 or 3 character and said "oh lets give this a new outfit for money!" dont get me wrong they do put out the outfit for some money but before that there has to be a reason why this character is chosen specifically and it all out lore all the outfit has meaning/connection to the characters! (expect for xingqiu for some reason they just put on furina's outfit to him XD its cooler than his original so W.)

I was gonna comment about how summer events always foreshadow the next nation but I see other people already said it lol, but yeah because I am very much looking forward to Natlan the summer event does excite me because of those hints about it. Especially because of how they present it, I'm obviously not gonna spoil anything but for example with the summer event about Fontaine, looking back on it after finishing it it's like "duh obviously this is what they meant" but back in 4.0/4.1 when we were still in the middle of the Archon Quest I had no idea. Plus as kind of separate thing, summer events are always, i liked all 3 of the past ones and with this one having some of my favorite characters (Scara, Navia, Kirara) I can't wait to play it.

The summer events are always some of the best ingame events, so I'm looking forward to it. We just have to see if it'll be GAA good or Bottleland good. They also always foreshadow the main story for the next region so it's always a good time for lore lovers (such as myself). There will definitely be requirements for it, but as usual for people who don't care for spoilers you can ignore those. If you have the option again I would recommend someone go through the event for you (if you don't want any spoilers). These usually have a ton of rewards. This time we're also getting a free Kirara and the skin on top of the usual event rewards. As for the skins I really like the Kirara one. It just looks so cool and I definitely like it more that her default one so, I'll be getting that asap. The Nilou one is meh for me, but as you said her original one was so great already that it's not really a fair comparison. I've seen some people online absolutely love it though, so it's probably just not for me.

Im excited to see what lore we are gonna learn in this event, the event land seems cool and the star rail refrence is cute. I always liked those sort of blocky video gamesy events reminds me of the one in guild wars 2 that they always rerun, specificly the toy dragon reminds me of that. Witches lore is always cool to see, and natlan lore drops are also gonna be intresting. I do like the tan lines one the natlan characters there altough that natlan male was a bit bland, i assume they can transform into their dragon forms like we saw in the older teaser.

Summer events are always probably my favorite time, it's always just super relaxing, and chilling with the random cast of characters is always interesting, the new origami area looks huge/I wonder if they're planning on including some Starrail references because of the flying train haha. Everyone seems to have already mentioned the lore they always tend to include as well. The natlan theories and soon the prelude animation trailer for it will bring plenty of hype to sustain the hype. I love Emilies kit and voice, and overall I love her face and hair, I'm not a fan of her outfit at all, mostly her chest just looks just awful, they recently had an official I guess collab art with her in a white dress and it literally looked like the best thing ever, I'm just kind of dissapointed since the current one feels so random with the details/unnecessarily cluttered, it's not even about the colors to me, I love green stuff and It kind of matches her story, but yeah I can't really bring myself to like her too much, unless she's like amazing gameplay/story wise, otherwise I'm saving for Natlan. The outfits are freakin fabulous, Kirara's I like especially so. I just love the kind of robin hood esque/puss in boots style of clothing and genshin finally really delivered, definitely inspired me to finally build her up in preperation. Nilous outit is mesmerizing to be honest, I don't really see the Kokomi resemblance, but I can see why some people are dissappointed with the color scheme, but I find her beautiful no matter what she wears, I just love how much she looks like a elegant flower.

Totally agree with your Nilou outfit take, especially that it resembles Kokomi too much, like it even has the exact same "fin" pattern, it's too much of a similarity in my opinion. And also I too love Nilou's standard outfit, one of my favourites in the game

Ok cool, it's not just me. I know there are obvious differences but at first glance it really felt VERY similar, especially with the fin like shapes and color scheme. OF course there could be references with this dress being made, but... It was still a choice to make it look the way it does and uh.. I dunno. It just feels off.

Loving Kirara's Outfit. Kinda 50:50 on Nilou's Outfit. As a Nilou Main i will get it regardless and see if i prefer it ingame over her default. I do wish it was a different color scheme, as there's just too much blue. The rest of her design does make sense. The biggest problem of it being close designwise and colorwise to Kokomi is... Nilou and Kokomi are inseperatable. So having both on the team with similar outfits does sound weird. Anyway a lot commented on the summer event. Its usually a must do event. Because of the heavy foreshadowing to the next region and the limited event means also lots of currency to get. Its always a shame they remove this tempoary big areas. As for spoiler dangers: Difficult to say, 2.8 touched on character stories better than their actual story quests. However 3.8 didnt really touch on the involved characters. Which is kinda the reason to be the least favorite summer event. Fontaine's events seem downgraded to have actual story content as there's kinda only the 4.3 event and i guess Lantern Rite. Itto's short event did have some interesting background story and some kind of foreshadowing. But overall still less missable or spoilery stuff overall in the current events, so you should be fine. Still better to wait for actual opinions on the content itself for sure, just to be safe. There's also another Natlan teaser and likely a trailer like the Overture trailer on probably friday or monday with the 5.0 Drip Marketing.

For me, Kirara's skin is one of the best & Top Tier design in any Genshin skin. Its so unique & stylish compared to other skins like Ganyu, Shenhe, & Nigguang which all are Chinese Dresses...which even HSR players complained about all the Xianzhou chars like Xueyi, Fu Xuan, Hanya, Jingliu, & Guinaifen having all similar outfits with some slight changes made. While Ayaka & Nilou skins looks bland in color. The only skins I like the most are Jean's & Barbara's skins which both are unique, & of course the Best Skin in Genshin which was the Diluc 5-star skin.

It still weirds me out, how Diluc is the only character with a 5-star skin. Paying for 4-stars skins for limited 5-stars that are not really an upgrade over their default unlike Diluc is such a odd choice.

I've the opposite opinion, besides Diluc. His is awesome. I think it makes sense that the Liyue characters would have formal Liyue/Chinese dresses as skins. At the same time I wouldn't have been apposed to other ideas. Kirara having the 'puss in boots' cat burglar skin with all the cat motifs on top of her already being a cat girl is a lot, too much on the nose, etc. It doesn't look bad but I can't help but roll my eyes at it. At least it's free though. If I had Kirara and used her I could see my self switching to it on occasion. Compared to everyone else, Jean and Barbara skins are kind of boring, Ayaka's isn't too special either... I dunno. I just wouldn't waste money on them. I'm happy that you're excited though! :)

summer events are the most important events in the game they are archon quest level in terms of lore they tell a story in a subtle and fun way but reveal dozens of things about the nations that come next for example Wanderer was facing a dragon in the trailer and guess what? Natlan is the nation of dragons Last year the event took place in Bottle Land a paradise and refuge for Oceanids and guess what? Fontaine is the nation of the Oceanids It's also very obvious that this fairy tale has to do with the witches, more specifically Andersdotter the storyteller

For the entire 4.X/Fontaine patch, I was hoping for some more Hexenzirkel lore, and we got very little. So I have some hopes of getting some in this new region. Especially due to the context of Imaginarium Theatre. Though the cast combination is pretty curious. Kirara's original outfit is already great (thanks to Chiori), so the best thing about her new outfit is the boxcat form. Otherwise it's just a blatant Puss in Boots reference. Nilou without the horns? I have to get used to that. And you mentioned the rest. Despite not being into Emilie's design, I am glad that she brings another reaction "burning" into the forefront. The summer events are actually not meant to be "dead". But more like give you a feeling of vacation. The Fischl event was terrific back then. You can check out earlier outfit trailers too and post them in a single video! The music is dope. Yes, I think you have the AR requirements for the event. The only problem is they might give you a spoiler warning. Finally, as a AR 60 player who just does DC, spends resin and play limited time events, my opinion of 4.8 is that it doesn't generate much hype. The thing that excited me the most is the music in the Natlan preview trailer. Some in-game QoL improvements also caught my attention. Love watching your content :)

I'm aware that there will be lore stuff within, but how it is portrayed in this trailer, I got very little, and that's most likey due to me being so far behind. From my perspective, because I know nothing, it just looks like a fun time. I'm happy that people are excited for it, but if it is too spoiler heavy, I'll have to miss out. Sooo I suppose we'll see.

My thoughts are the following, on the event, I’m going to have fun with it, however, I’m skipping Emilie for Natlan, I don’t want Nilou’s outfit and yes, I agree, she does look like Kokomi, and Kirara’s outfit is going to be free as well as the character. As for the restrictions for events, you can forgo them if you want, they give you that option

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet but there is a requirement to play events. I think you can just quick start it but I'm not entirely sure if you need to already finish the Liyue AQ and unlock Ritou. I do think summer events are different and you can play them but don't quote me on it.

I personally like the two new outfits better simply for their headgear. Both Nilou and Kirara suffer from the fact that at first glance you can mistake their original headgear as part of their bodies (Nilou's fake horns being considered real horns and Kirara's bow being considered cat ears). I never really liked how Nilou's outfit was a legit costume in-world. Give her actual clothes to wear when she's not in the middle of a performance. I also love Kokomi's outfit (despite it being nonsense) so I don't mind more characters dressing like her.

My opinion on Nilou's outfit (which no one asked for but I state it regardless lmao): I feel like the only thing I see in Nilou's new outfit is her hair. Nothing else sticks out. Anyways yeah just my opinion lol

I also prefer Nilou's original outfit, I especially don't like the bare feet thing, idk. We'll be getting a Kirara alongside her outfit for free, which is actually pretty good for me because I don't have her and she's really good at climbing. Hope you enjoy this update whether you decide to play the main event or not (If you can).
