My favorite by Geoff is Sixteen Tons, an old song about coal mining. It was made famous in the 1950's or 60's by Tennessee Ernie Ford. Geoff was brilliant in the way he used mining tools (sledge hammer, pickaxe, etc.) as percussion instuments!

Geoff's deep bass notes are so clean & clear. Loved your reaction, it was the same as mine...and everyone else's. I agree with one of your other commenters, try "Blackbird" next. Thanks for this reaction Samantha!

My favorite Geoff solo project is Sixteen Tonnes. Voice Play shines with My Mother Told Me, Queen in 5 minutes and The Little Mermaid Medley
@greggapplegarth35013 жыл бұрын
That was a fair choice for Geoff. However, I really think the best video that he has done solo is "Blackbird" a beatles cover. It really shows off his range in a clear manner.

I really like your Facebook channel here You allowed the video to play without stopping at 10 times. Watching your expressions and your thoughts to this video. Then you allowed your comments and your thoughts to this video at the end. That's a big thumbs-up for me. You're the best that I've seen on all these channels. Keep it good and keep it real young lady

I know, words fail you sometimes. Two other great ones from Geoff are Country Roads, 16 Tons, and Blackbird. He clones himself to create his own backng group. :) Brilliant reaction .

Geoff has a 5 plus vocal range. The last note, I believe was an F1. Do as many of Geoffs video reaction as you wish. And as many acappella groups as you can find! It's a wonderful rabit hole of superb musicality! 👌🎯
@camctrail3 жыл бұрын
The last note was a G1, full chest. F1 is apparently his lowest chest note he's ever hit, but he hasn't officially in a video yet

Him going down like that, will not hurt. What he has learned to do is relax his vocal cords to get down that low. When you go high is when your are tightening them. That's how I hurt mine.

A clean vocal bass is a rare thing. I am a bass singer, and like I will tell you, it's much harder to control in bass than even baritone -- just a misplacement of the larynx can cause the note to change dramatically.
@leechowning27123 жыл бұрын
The really entertaining thing is that he calls himself a Baritone... With his 5 octaves of range.
@johndeeregreen45923 жыл бұрын
@@leechowning2712, he says that tongue-in-cheek. His natural speaking voice dips to an A1... even a low baritone is around an F2 speaking voice, and a bass-baritone around an E2 speaking voice.
@thaiseathaydesantos3 жыл бұрын
Geoff uses a technique called subharmonics to get much lower, but you already need a very low voice to achieve something like this. I've been practicing just for fun, I'm a soprano (highest female voice), and now I can sing a lot lower, but it sounds like I might need an exorcism hahaha. Everyone suggested Blackbird, and I must agree, I also suggest Sixteen Tons. I've been enjoying a lot your reactions, very genuine.

There is another version of this song, (Misty Mountains Cold) by Peter Hollens and Tim Foust, it was done about 6-7year's ago. You should listen to it as well, Tim Foust is the Bass singer from Home Free. Both Tim Foust and Geoff Castellucci are considered to be Dragon like singers (their ability to go subsonic) I hope you enjoy the older version too. 😀👍🍻

Thank you for your time and comments. I see a pattern, you like low voices. Tim, Diana now Geoff. 16 tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford is old song about the hardships of working in the coal mines. Companies payed miners in script, not real money, only the company owned stores would accept the script. Wages were never enough to sustain the miner and the family. Henceforth, (always in debt), a lyric in the song. Hope this peaked your interest, love your comments and reactions.

No offense to Geoff...I think he is an incredible singer of immense talent....and I have said this before....I think his bass is sometimes used as a gimmick, or it just comes off as that...however he has a LOT of great titles that this is NOT the case. I would check out (as mentioned before) Misty Mountains by Peter Hollens and Tim Faust and compare the 2 for yourself. Geoff's other great videos include Blackbird, 16 Tons, and a lot of VoicePlay where he is the bass.
