Samantha I totally understand. Tim just melts my heart. I just can't help it. Hillbilly bone means you have a deep part of yourself that will respond to hillbilly music and culture. T. hat part inside you just will make you always be responsive to hillbilly, which really just means country music. Yee haw! That's just county for HELL YEAH!!!!

This is a Blake Shelton cover, featuring Trace Adkins in the original. As I recall their video has the two of them, a couple of big ol' country boys, going for a meal at a high end restaurant. They get a little disruptive, and have fun with it. BTW, I believe the other people in this video are wives, girlfriends and friends of the Home Free group members.

Hillbilly is a term for someone who grew up way, way out in the country (or just really likes country life) and is perceived to be a bit unsophisticated. (Think the old tv show Beverly Hillbillies if you’ve ever seen it.) The song is saying that everyone has a bit of “country” in them.

It’s a Blake Shelton song I think. The boys did it justice. What’s funny is that Chance is playing the city slicker in this and he’s the most country of them all growing up in the sticks of Alabama. Just a lot of fun. Love all of those low notes by Tim. They look like they’re so much fun to party with. You really need to be an American to understand this song, which is really about southern culture. Basically the song is saying that deep down inside a person is a positive reaction to southern music and that once you hear it you have a positive reaction, making you want to hear more.

Lots of us 'country queens' in the west too. Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, etc. I grew up riding bareback and barefoot, milking cows, feeding stinking chickens, riding quads and gutting Trout. 😜😄

Yup, I grew up doing all of those things in the West, and then I moved to Ohio and kept doing them. I think it's more rural vs urban than South vs Yankee. Oh--and for reference, an "F-150" is a Ford half-ton pickup truck, and a "30--06" is, strictly speaking, a rifle cartridge (.30 caliber, invented in 1906) that started life as a battle-rifle and general-purpose machine-gun chambering but quickly took over the civilian medium-game hunting market in the early-to-mid 20th century. In this context, the singer doesn't mean the cartridge itself, he means a hunting rifle (almost certainly bolt-action, probably with a riflescope mounted) chambered for that cartridge.

If you don’t know what grits are, they are essentially the same thing used in polenta. This IS one of the sexiest songs they do. In the ‘behind the scenes’ video, I think Adam says something about it being sexual. A hillbilly started out being a derogatory term for people who lived back in the hills of Appalachia, particularly those in the southern US. Others have appropriated it and use it to just mean not from the city but out in the countryside. Thanks, Samantha!

As previously mentioned, Chance is really a country, but I find it humorous that they sort of refer to Rob as a "Bubba;" that's usually used for some big ole country boy. Rob grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis Minnesota, and is definitely a city boy! A F150 is a Ford pickup truck; a 30 aught 6 (30.06) is a type of cartridge used in a rifle. (Someone correct me if used the wrong fun terminology.)

Ok, Blake Shelton with Trace Adkins sing this (both artists that I've requested btw). A hillbilly bone is like a funny bone, everyone has one and you might only feel it once in a while (like when you visit folks in the country). Also, those of us that happen to be basso profondo singers have a name for that feeling you get when Tim or Geoff hits those low notes, it's a bass-gasm. I'm not being dirty or anything, it's just the look/reaction some have to very low notes coming from a human. Some are just the opposite and have that type of reaction to screaming high first tenors (like Austin) or the mid ranges like Rob or Adam. I got lucky and met my wife in high school choir, because of my low voice.

Hillbilly bone can mean at least two things. It is not a common expression, it is constructed fresh for the song. In American English, we might say, "He doesn't have a mean bone in his body." That means that he doesn't have any meanness in him. The song suggests that more people have Hillbilly (rural Appalachian mountain culture) in them than you would think. Or at least they can enjoy it. On the other hand, "bone" is one of the three million slang terms for penis. I'm sure they referenced that somewhere in there. It's a long tradition.

"When A Man Loves a Woman" isn't a sweet mushy song. Look up the lyrics. It's not a man singing to his lady; it's a man singing about what an evil woman is doing to his lovestruck friend. It's actually kind of a horrible song--the sort no decent woman would ever want sung about her. If you're looking for sweet mushy Home Free, it's out there--for example, the Stargazer Trilogy--but "When A Man Loves a Woman" isn't it.
