Borahae Dude. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Means I purple you. Much respect. His name is JIMIN, and he's a part of the South Korean supergroup, BTS. This is his debut song from his debut album FACE. Jimin has been a part of BTS since before they debuted in 2013, as a Hip Hop Idol group in South Korea. It looks like you might be starting a journey to find out who BTS is. They are all very talented and I know you will like them. Their fanbase is Global. And as you find out more about them, you will realize why they are loved around the Globe, and have over 90 million fans. Their fanbase is very diverse in age, race, gender, and socio-economic background. For example; my husband and I are ARMY (BTS fanbase name), and we are 57 years old. Music transcends language and nationality. I look forward to your BTS journey.

Their culture is actually very conservative and they're very strict. Smoking on TV is usually blocked and not aired until after 9pm, the same with swearing and tattoos are quite taboo, they are becoming less of a "bad boy" image now though. There's a story behind this of self conflict, escapism, expectations. He is possibly one of the most hated idols in the industries that has been constantly mocked for his vocals, his dance, his visuals, his charity and even his family receives hate. He has been put in a cage and although he is the most kind hearted sweetest person so many have put those expectations on his performances too. This isn't what Jimin normally brings so this was huge, this was him breaking out of all those that hate him and those that put him in a box. He's free to finally experiment and do what he wants rather than what is expected from him.

But also the most loved. In SK he has been brand king for years and it is entirely normal to get into BTS by watching Jimin first before falling for them and their message. And not normaly? He is BTS, please. He danced and won dance battles to Hiphop. He jumped in and did a second version with Suga of "Tony Montana". There are also times in concert where the vocalline interpreted rapline songs and Jimin is part of that. "Lie" has many similarities. In a way this is exactly what was to be expected. This is about self-hate and his brain's expectations. Exactly like in "Lie". He has just managed to actually free himself. People forget that like other BTS members there is more than one Persona in Jimin and they are all real. Why yes: he looks young/cute and plays that up for entertainment. His vocaltone in "angelic" (some say he is a countertenor) and he is highly empathic. That said there people who have seen him in real life and said how shocked they were about his rather cold aura: because that can be also him. He is one of the more private members. That and he expresses what he means with his body often better than with his lyrics. But his interviews show of his emotional intelligence. People often reduce him to a cliche and if that was real he would have never made it with BTS. Yoongi said it on Suchiwita to Taeyang: Jimin work ethic is scary. And people did not really understand "Filter". Till now he followed that cliche because that was what was needed. But this is very much him and because of that I'm delighted and happy but not surprised.

​@@bulletproofwaafle7770 Filter can be seen from multiple standpoints. That is part of what a Filter is. I thought it belongs more to the "shadow" dynamic of the "Map of the Soul" but it can also be seen under Persona and Ego aspects. Most people concentrate only on one interpretation out of all the possible ones and that limits all that this song is. There were people that thought he came out as genderfluid with it and tried to change his pronouns. Some took at as an invitation that it is okay to project on him and that he doesn't mind. That being wanted was the important point. But the projection and trying to force him to conform to them is also very toxic. Did he see it as fun game or did he reject it or maybe both to different degrees? Looking under the surface is with Filter very tricky. The song mentions his cute side but that isn't in the choreography at all. People sometimes forget that he isn't a doll or just a "regular" Idol (that is changing more but wasn't even in second gen. always right). We do see a lot of him but he is also private and sometimes people think that his cute/nice side is all there is. As if he isn't like all the other members extremly talented and hard working that suffered through a lot of conflict - even more than a lot of the other top Idols - they had to be and Jimin is not exempt from that. People choose to project and often ignored certain other sides he has shown and yes - those people were surprised/annoyed or even let down by his new music (sometimes even blaming others for "forcing" him when this is very much Jimin). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Personal I don't care. I believe Jimin is doing exactly what he wants and caring even less than before what others want him to be. He is an adult (and likely had sex more than once). And the label does not force him to do anything. They can ask - and if he thinks it is necessary he will do it (or if he wants to even without that). He matured very young. There is an interesting vid by Asian Entertainment and Culture about the underestimated intelligence of Park Jimin. And she is not wrong. Borahae! 💜
