Here is the explanation I wrote. Hopefully you’ll find this enlightening! This is gonna be a long comment so bear with me! “Blood Sweat & Tears” is the title track of one of their albums called “WINGS” (2016). This particular song and entire album uses a plethora of references that link to one book: “Demian” by german writer Hermann Hesse. This book, a bildungsroman in essence, tells the story of a young boy named Emil Sinclair and his childhood growing up during pre-World War I. He struggles to find his new self-knowledge in the immoral world and is caught between good and evil. Already we have some clues as to what this song/MV is about: the battle between good and evil and temptation. The video opens up with the members in a museum; notice how every member have symbols of innocence, such as a bike or slingshot; also each younger member is paired with an older member, their “mentor”, referencing “Demian”. Jin, the oldest member, stands alone. He is staring at the painting called “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” by Peter Bruegel the Elder. (good angels fighting Lucifer/evil angels fallen from Heaven). On both sides, there is a black and white door, innocence and evil/temptation. Now, If you notice at 4:16, Jungkook is on a swing, and behind him is the painting called “The Lament for Icarus” by Herbert James Draper. Jungkook is representing Icarus troughout the whole video. (V also represents Icarus but in a different form). The swing could represent Icarus being safe, the Icarus following orders (he is supported by a swing, safe from the wrongdoings of the world). Also, notice the lollipop in his hand. This could symbolize either another symbol of innocence, or Icarus’ age as he was a child. Later we see a drop of wax dripping on JK’s finger (5:15). This is a representation of the fall of Icarus and foreshadows what will happen to him later in the video (JK licking the said wax from his finger, a symbol of Icarus’ temptation that would later come in as his downfall, foreshadowed by the painting in the back). At 6:39, V is representing Icarus but also a fallen angel (this scene can also symbolize the fall of Lucifer: he rebelled against God and fell from grace, tempting more angels to do so in the process, thus connecting to the painting at the beginning “The Fall of the Rebel Angels”, maybe this is why he smirks after he falls down the balcony). Behind him we see the painting “Landscape with the Fall of Icarus” by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. This scene represents the death of Icarus (he ignored his father’s warning about flying too close to the sun, until the wax that kept his wings attached to his body melted…and so he fell to his death-again we have the theme of temptation-Icarus falling to temptation. But…at 7:03/7:11 we see Jungkook again, but this time he is floating. He in this scene is dead, and him floating in the air represents how Icarus started “floating” in the water after he fell and drowned, connecting V’s and JK’s scenes. We also see feathers floating in the air and on the floor as well (being underwater). So the whole Icarus imagery in this MV comes in like this: stage 1: We see JK/Icarus on the swing, Icarus being alive; stage 2: V/Icarus falls off the balcony and into the water; stage 3: The painting in the background (“Landscape with the Fall of Icarus”) foreshadows JK/Icarus when he is floating/drowned (him being dead/underwater); stage 4: the painting behind JK (“The Lament for Icarus”) foreshadows V/Icarus having no wings on anymore which is the final stage. Now, the kissing scene. (RM is reading a paragraph from “Demian” at 7:35, if you didn’t read the book, you will not really understand; also, this scene portrays Jin letting go of the balloon. This can represent letting go of his childhood innocence, his youth and moving into adulthood. During the interlude of the MV, all the members run towards the exit except for Jin and V. If you notice, Jin has a very confused and scared look on his face while V blindfolds him with his hands. After that, a white statue with black wings appears: this statue represents Abraxas-the deity is a representation of the moral and immoral, good and evil. After that, Jin walks closer to it, takes a look at it then kisses it. This scene represents how Jin has finally embraced both good and evil into himself (by kissing Abraxas). We then see V with his wings cut off, giving a smile to the camera (him smiling could symbolize that Jin’s growth is complete, and he finally welcomed chaos into himself which leads to self betterment and growth: Theory of Carl Jung: accepting your shadow). So this whole MV in general is revolving around Jin most of the time, he is the main protagonist. The quote above the mirror is written in German (belonging to Nietzsche) and translates as: “You need to have chaos in yourself in order to give birth to a dancing star”, meaning that if you don’t accept chaos (evil/temptation) into yourself, you will not be able to grow to your full potential and complete your individuation process. There is a lot of reference to art and biblical symbols such as the sculpture behind J-hope which is “The Pietà” by Michelangelo, symbolic within the BU (Bangtan Universe) which is a fictional storyline that runs through many of their MV’s ( at 7:05, V is posing similar to “The veiled Virgin” sculpture by Giovanni Strazza, all the members sitting at a table in a very heavenly place, similar to the “Last Supper”, the apple and chalice and many others… PS Da, ‘mahni’ in coreeana înseamnă mult. Mulți aud money dar aici nu e cazul.

It’s hard to pick a favourite Victor. I have my favourites for different reasons. As a group : 1- Make it right ( it’s my wake up alarm on my cellphone), I just love their voices in this track. If you watch the video, DO NOT watch the version with Lauv ( Lauv takes too many of BTS members lines ). 2- Mikrokosmos, because the melody and lyrics are poignant. 3- The Truth Untold ( by the 4 vocalists) . It’s just a beautiful friggin song. 4-Your Eyes Tell ( in Japanese) . It’s a masterclass in singing. 5- Magic Shop ( a song for ARMY). I love their message. 6- Dynamite and Permission to dance are a tie for a pick me up song. Listening to these 2 brings me joy. Solos: RM: Joke Jin: The Astronaut Suga : Snooze J-Hope: More Jimin: Set me free pt. 2 V: cannot pick between Singularity, Sweet Night, and Christmas Tree ( sorry ) Jungkook: cannot pick between Dreamers and Yes or No

Thanks for the reaction. I enjoyed it. I particularly like Blood Sweat and Tears for all the symbolism in the MV. I like the fact that BTS believes that ARMY are astute enough to dig deeper into the meanings behind the video and have varying opinions about it. There is an interesting piece of writing by Thilde Kold Holdt on her website that analyses many ideas from the MV. Looking forward to your next reaction.

Favorite is probably “Magic Shop”. As you said, BTS really saved me in a dark time. I didn’t realize I was so stuck in a situation of my own making until I had started listening to BTS and heard “Permission to Dance”. I felt like it really called me out for making excuses as to why I couldn’t move forward. (“There’s always something that’s standing in the way” lyric) After that, I started taking steps to make my life better, and slowly things turned around. I had known about BTS for years, but never paid attention until 2021. It’s really true that they find you when you need them most and “Magic Shop” is such a comforting song for someone who is trying their best to change for the better.

Blood Sweat and Tears is a really deep song and MV. Its theme is "Temptation," "loss of Innocence ", the " loss of childhood," as youth transitions to becoming adults. The MV is full of symbolism. The members are in pairs, a younger member with an older member. There is a bicycle , ballon, and a slingshot representing childhood. The painting that Jin stares at is the fall of the angels from heaven. There are two doors in the back, one white, one black representing good and evil. In the MV, V portrays a fallen angel whose wings have been torn off. Way, way more, but do yourself a real insight ( better than mine) and watch ' the Blood Sweart and Tears Explanation video.💜

The lyrics are so deep. Others have already put explanations here, so I won't repeat them. BTSs music is so unique in this way. RM is the main song writer along with Suga and Jhope as well as others. RM in particular is a ledgend in word play and deep meanings. As they are not for the average thinker there are great explanation videos especially as it relates to Korean culture that gives you a whole new appreciation for their songs.

Spring Day is such a beautiful and meaningful song. I think you would like it, but doing some background searching will open up the meaning so much more. One recommendation for a reaction: Mic Drop + Run BTS Live from Busan. The energy is CRAZY. It was the first ever performance of Run BTS and oh boy it shook the fandom! BTS' last concert before their enlistment to the military. An old classic: Danger - one of the first main tracks and honesty just a banger. A wild and funny music video and an amazing song: IDOL An amazing song that I don't see creators reacting that often is: DNA Here are some songs that popped into my mind. Two songs from BTS that are in the top top for me, are Outro: Tear and Singularity. Both AMAZING and the lyrics are incredible. I really enjoy your reactions! Thank you for uploading so often!

But that "rhyme" is no coincidence! RM is the lyricist, and is bilingual, and knows darn well how it will sound. He does this, sings a bar in Korean, rhymes with the next bar in English, and weaves the languages together. In the Guide he was talking about the "ee" sound, that's an example.

7:50 It’s a quote from the book “Demian” by Herman Hesse, "He too was a tempter; he, too, was a link to the second, the evil world with which I no longer wanted to have anything to do". The book is about an older man looking and reflecting on his childhood, giving reasons and analysis as to why he acted in certain ways in different situations. Their album "Wings" from which this track came from was inspired by this book and explores themes like temptation and the conflicts of coming of age.

To spare you having to watch another video: This is my personal take, integrating my ideas with stuff from other folks who sounded sensible to me--many will interpret it their own different way. Young men growing up, going out into the world and encountering temptation. Lots of imagery of Icarus and Lucifer, those classical examples of overreach. The sunset meal resembles the last supper, but the only food on the table is the apple, symbol of forbidden knowledge. Black and white, light and dark options are shown on all sides. They keep rejecting the option to remain blinded and ignorant by pushing the hands away from covering their eyes. JHope speaks of opting for what he knows is a toxic relationship, while ignoring and erasing the expression of religion, while Suga and Jimin are doing what--bondage games?--up in the attic. RM and JK are in the bedroom sampling all kinds of substances (the green drink absinthe is a known hallucinogen), and possibly each other (JK panting on the bed). Jin releases a balloon symbolizing childhood, and can't call it back. And V is hosting it all (it's his house, not a museum--that's why he's in a bathrobe) and embodying the person who lost his wings. The video is based on the novel Demian by Hermann Hesse, and is very heavily influenced by the psychoanalyst Carl Jung, mentor and therapist to Hesse. The content is about shedding your childhood innocence and entering into maturity by embracing all the world offers, and learning to choose between bad and good. The black-winged figure is Abraxis, the fount of knowledge of good and evil, who Jin comes to fully accept with the kiss. And accepting that means everything shatters, including the certainties of religion (the Madonna exploding) and even breaking out of your own little eggshell (the cracking of Jin's porcelain complexion), so that you can mature into your fully actualized self. The quote in German over the mirror is from Nietzsche, and translates roughly as "One must have chaos within to be able to give birth to a dancing star." You can't reach your full potential until you can embrace all of the world, including the dark bits. The song is from their album Wings, an exploration of growing up and a real departure for them musically. BTS went on to create another two sets of albums--the Love Yourself songs that addressed the need to be a self-loving, fully-actualized person before you can really fully love anyone else, and the Map of the Soul albums based on Jung's theories, about integrating into a whole person. And those videos are great too. Check out RM's Persona, Suga's Shadow, and JHope's Ego. My personal favorite is the Love Yourself: Tear album--the one where you realize that love won't last if you are wearing a mask to delude yourself and your partner about your real self. Singularity, Fake Love, the Truth Untold, 134340 (that's Pluto's non-planetary body designation--it's Pluto's breakup song), Paradise, Love Maze, Airplane Pt2, Anpanman, So What, Outro Tear, and ARMY's comfort song Magic Shop--absolute gold, every one. So if you want to keep doing BTS, there's lots of material to work with.
