I was code blue, no vitals, two days after a horrific car accident at age 19. When I woke up after a 10 day coma I could recall the sounds of being revived, people yelling, myself feeling super confused and panicked... simply, it was chaos. but the only image I recalled was my little brother crouched down by a wall, crying. He was 12 at the time, I later learned he never left my side in the hospital and was actually in the room when I flat lined. He was crouched in a corner with his eyes covered as they worked to bring me back. My mom had just left to get coffee, and came rushing in right after I had been stabilized to find him that way. Point is, idk what happens when you die, but my experience was confusing and kind of heartbreaking. After all was said and done, though, it did make me happier and more grateful to be here! ❤

As far back as ancient Egypt, it was possible to rent a professional mourner to cry and moan at your funeral. They put on a dramatic show so people know you'll be missed. Even now, in parts of the world, if you fork over a little extra cash, a hired mourner will even hurl themselves into your grave

I am not religious either. As a kid my grandfather had a really bad heart attack. We all said our goodbyes and somehow after a few minutes his heart was able to be restarted. I asked him what he saw and his response was nothing just darkness. As a kid this scared me and left me with more questions then answers. Overtime Ive realized how peaceful it was for him. No pain, no sadness, just nothing. How peaceful

I think what people 'see' when they have a near-death experience does not actually happen when they die, but just before or after, as you have no sense of time. It's your body's way of keeping you calm and your brain attempting to deal with the situation as best it can.

"Hydra" is a stage of life in some organisms, generally cnidarians, such as jellyfishes and the like. They begin as hydra, attached to a surface, then mature into a "medusa," the free-floating fauna you're used to. A few can then revert to hydra again, to start the process over. However, these jellies tend to be eaten at an alarming rate, such that, while they may be "biologically immortal," they rarely live to be more that a few years old

It's interesting to see calories connected to longevity. It's one of more quoted benefits of fasting, something I've been doing for over a year, and something that's been picking up in popularity for health. I just like to compare it with the "work hard, play hard" saying. Fast hard, feast hard. Although I'm guilty of sticking fasting on my identity, much like how some stereotypes about vegans are, to some of my friends' surprise, I actually do eat plentifully when I do eat.

Science has studied NDE's a lot, and we know a lot about how the brain works under certain circumstances. First, we know that the brain can still sustain electrical activity for about 6 minutes after the heart and lungs stop working. When blood is not flowing through the brain, oxygen depletes, and carbon dioxide builds up, symptoms of hallucination are directly correlated to this condition. Therefore when your heart stops, you have a very high probability of experiencing some form of hallucination. And given that a person's philosophies, and beliefs, are stored in their brains, their hallucinations frequently correlate to what they believed, during life. Additionally, as the brain is dying, to conserve energy, and keep itself alive for as long as possible, it abandons all other functions, like consciousness, for example. Another of the brain's job duties is managing the storage of all hormones in the body. As the brain abandons these functions, the body experiences a full scale dump of hormones--things like Dopamine, Acetylcholine, and pretty much everything else. The rush of these hormones flooding the body is likely what produces the feeling described as an overwhelming sense of peace, and happiness. Probably also what gives guys an erection, at time of death.

For the overeating part, I think it's specifically overeating for YOU. What I mean by this is, everyone is different. If you have 2 people of the same height, weight, gender and age, that doesn't necessarily mean that if one person eats 3000 calories and 1 person eats 2000 calories then the person who eats 2000 calories is more healthy. Everyone has a different metabolism and metabolism is effected by many things. For instance, if you exercise a lot, have a genetically higher metabolism, or an overactive thyroid, then height, weight, age and gender being the same doesn't result in needing the same caloric needs. For instance, I have hyperthyroidism, exercise 7 days a week, and eat 6000 calories every day, but I probably under eat. I know this because I am 5.9, male, 20, and only weight 140 lbs. My body fat percentage is between 6 and 7 but my muscle percentage is like 22 or 23. This would suggest that for my overall statistics I slightly under eat. I also have lower blood pressure, lower sodium levels, higher energy levels, less need to sleep, and a lower resting body temperature. Despite my genetic conditions, the fact that I eat 2-3 people worth of food in 1 day, I would consider myself very healthy, and I have had no preexisting health conditions of even a minor sort, nor do I currently have any, and I don't expect to have any in the future. In conclusion, I only believe the overeating accelerates aging when YOU overeat relative to your needs which are just beyond height, weight, age, and gender. Let me know in the comments section if anyone else agrees, has any information to add, or disagrees with my statement.

Also fun fact, I am probably a super sleeper, I consistently get between 4-6 hours a day every week and I don't feel tired, I sleep very well consistently, I have lots of energy during almost all times in the day consistently, and I have no health complications of any sort relating to or not of sleeping less than people suggest.

I'm surprised that Lemmino did not finish his NDE studies; or do them more thoroughly as he seems to usually do for his videos. So there very certainly ARE various examples of many people having been completely brain dead - OR - having had their brains completely shut off and "dead" due to surgery, who come back with a Near Death Experience. Just do studies right here on KZbin with Near Death experiences and you will find out from those people themselves or even their doctors, what occurred. I know the documentary series by L. A. Marzulli called "The Watchers" in video 5 had a medical doctor who had documented over 1500 NDE's among his and his colleagues work. And I'm pretty sure a number of those NDE's were complete brian death's too. There is an excellent Documentary called the "Search for Heaven" that documents how Quantum Mechanics appears to be able to prove the existence of the soul. These things are rather important to look into since - well - we all eventually will die. And if you do have a choice of where you go when you die, might as well find out how to have a very good afterlife!

Well it wouldnt matter whether you believe in an afterlife if what you see after death like an angel or god then they would still come and pick you up and if the are not real then they would not Its more likely a subconscious image you brain gives you as the are reviving you or right before death and if these things are real maybe they take the shape out of your belief like some shapeshifter from mythos in any case fearing it is useless as believing in it or not will not change anything so if people finds life easier with religion then let them have it although it is fascinating to ponder these things
