This was when Emotions became her signature song! She is the only one that really is able to sing her own song with that range from deeper to higher! I wonder if any other singer can ever sing this the way she could…. And I love the nineties vibe with the C and C music factory groove that was very trendy at the time!😍🦋💕

OMG. Yes, C&C remixed so many A listers and I adored everything David Cole (may he rice & peas) touched with his almighty Midas. I would spend hours rehearsing, studying, and shopping for similar fashion styles just do I could emulate the Zeitgeist CnC-esque on the dancefloor. The late 80ies/ early 90ies were MY TIME!!!!

This is one of those Emotions performances where it is known she reaches stratospheric whistle notes higher than even those recorded in the album. It's so iconic! That song is very difficult to sing even without the whistle notes and she still nails it!

mariah made full use of the 4 minutes she had on arsenio and literally showcased her 5 octave vocal range. the low notes, the belts, the whistle reigster, the 1 million melismas.... god tier mimi live performance 4 sure!!!

Great one! I thought the same thing about her short outfit. It’s funny how she nearly looked more mature at the time. Her voice here is just at its most precise strongest and natural.

Great performance 👏. Great reaction. As always, love to hear your thoughts ❤ I also wonder sometimes how she got away with wearing certain things in her career. You can definitely see the control of her wardrobe but there are moments where she wears low cut tops or short skirts. I always think when I see certain pictures, did she battle TM that day to be able to wear what she wanted.

Actually, she came out wearing sexy clothes with low necklines and high hemlines. She just wasn't in your face about it. Mottola didn't exert control over her wardrobe until 1993. Even then, most of it was for publicity purposes (albums, promo, live appearances) but when it came to parties she had more control over what she wore.
