I mainly agree that Fried is looking at the Dodgers but I think the Red Sox have an outside chance because he's a childhood friend of Giolito and Gio already had him to Boston this off season. Gio also talked about them always wanting to play on the same MLB team together and the only way that happens is if Fried goes to the Red Sox. I think the Dodgers are still #1 but I do believe the Sox are #2.

As an outsider(Dodger fan), you guys seem in a flux state right now. No offense, but that's not attractive to free agents. You're stuck in a juggernaut of a division. No matter what you do this off-season, at least on paper, you're gonna be the third best team in your division. The Yankees and Orioles aren't going anywhere. Gausman and Bassitt have a couple years left on their contracts, I believe, and they're both on the older side. And they're your best starters. Vlad Jr and Bichette are impending free agents next off-season, and I'd be doing everything I could to bring them back if I was your GM. Springer's contract just looks bad, he's 34, is declining, and can't stay healthy. The Yankees, Red Sox, and Rays also objectively have better farm systems than you right now. The Orioles, not so much, given most of their guys have graduated, but theirs is still solid. I think there's a good chance you're starting a rebuild next off-season. 🤷♂️

@@greatnessdelton1381 You’re not wrong about the lack of a future currently, but if they resign vlad I think everything changes quickly. For 2025 we mainly need bullpen help, and some middle of the order bats. All of which are very attainable and I expect us to at-least be competitive. As for 2026 and beyond assuming we resign vlad we have a ton of mlb ready prospects, many have already shown they are at least mlb caliber players. With so many veterans gone and younger players in after 2026 we will have plenty of money to spend and I believe keep a sustainable team going. I certainly hope the Dodgers resign Teo (although I'm a bit worried they haven't by now tbh). I without a doubt they should bring Fried, they need some LHP and specially one like him who can go deep into games. As for Flaherty I'm not that sure, sometimes it seems like he doesn't feel all that at ease there, maybe he wants back in Detroit...
@greatnessdelton13814 күн бұрын
They haven't committed to Teo because they're definitely going to be in on Soto. I don't think they'll get him, not because they can't afford him, but because I think Friedman and the ownership have their prices for every player, and Soto will exceed what they're willing to pay. Teo will probably still be on the market, I can see them bringing him back once Soto signs. If not, Tyler O'Neill makes a lot of sense.
@edomarpez18403 күн бұрын
@@greatnessdelton1381 Oh boy.....I sure hope they don't go for Soto or that, as you said, that he's over the proce limit they're willing to pay. I sincerely think all those resources would be better allocated elsewhere
@greatnessdelton13813 күн бұрын
@@edomarpez1840 Issue is, there's really nobody on the F/A market apart from Soto that doesn't carry some sort of obvious risk. For SP- Fried would be great. Hometown kid, friend and teammate of Freddie, and an ace when healthy. The issue is, for the better part of three years, he hasn't been. And you're adding another high-priced injury prone SP to a team full of them, right after they just did so with Glasnow last off-season. Burnes would be good, too. But I can't see the Dodgers breaking the bank for him, and he's slowly gotten worse every year since his CY young season in 2021, his strikeout rate plummeting, hard hit rate steadily rising, and velocity declining. Snell would be nice. But he's a Boras client that just won the CY young last year, and is seeking a long term deal. His numbers outside of 2018 and 2023 aren't particularly great either, and he has his own injury history. He's also on the older side. Flaherty would make the most sense should they win the WS. But he also has an injury history, which made the Yankees pass on him in the first place. Second, once he got traded to us, while solid, he wasn't an ace down the stretch like he was with Detroit earlier in the year. And I don't feel comfortable about them overbidding for him.
@edomarpez18403 күн бұрын
@@greatnessdelton1381 I agree about the risk however I'd rather see them resign Teo than brin Soto. There's no real need for him, if they extend Teo they could easily fill the OF with Pages and another take on Outman (granted they have Edman). As for your 4 SP takes, I agree on all, I would like a lot the Fried experiment, specially becuase he's a lefty, but since I do worry about his health, I wouldn't be mad at all if they let him. Also I don't think they need another ace, maybe even a decent 4th would do as long as he's a LHP. With Flaherty I may add that, at times, it seems to me that he isn't really bought into Dodgers
@greatnessdelton13813 күн бұрын
@@edomarpez1840 I'd obviously rather have Soto, but Teoscar is more feasible financially. Outman isn't a major league caliber player at this point. You can't stay in the majors with a career K rate of 33% unless you have pop like Kyle Schwarber. He has average power, with good defense and baserunning. But he has zero contact skills whatsoever and he doesn't get on base often. You can't really use Edman for the OF either, he's clearly the best option they have at SS. They need him more there. Pages has a lot of the same issues as Outman. K rate through the roof, doesn't make a lot of contact, is far worse defensively and as a base runner. His saving grace is that he mashes lefties and has really good power, so he's got a future as a platoon player. He's also only 24. But if he's starting everyday, something went wrong.

They definitively need at least one more top-end starting pitcher, a corner outfielder, and another high leverage arm. The fact that Teoscar hasn't been given a contract extension much less an offer, despite him saying how much he likes it here, and the fact that Dodgers did try to go after this player at the trade deadline two years ago just screams they're going to go after Juan Soto aggressively.
@theStacyJames6 күн бұрын
Soto is waaaaaaay overpriced. If he was an ace pitcher as well as a batter, and a better than half decent fielder, I'd say 600M would make sense. but he's a top line hitter and a half assed fielder. I wouldn't pay more than 450m for him, 10-years.
