Its very common for young children who have experienced sexual abuse to copy their abuse on other kids. Which makes sense, considering how impressionable they are. This bit of the (real) story is what first convinced me to believe what the Menendez brothers have accused their parents of doing - you can't just make this shit up (in the early 90s!) unless you have the knowledge of a professional child psychologist. Which, obviously, these guys werent.

the last scene with Erik is true, you can find a real trial video on youtube where Lyle and Erik talked about it in court. also about the new documentary will be out on 7 october i believe, they got the real Menendez brothers in interview together to tell their story for the first time in 30 years!

Yes Lyle really had a toupe. He started losing his hair as a kid because of stress

would love a reaction to the documentary! i also suggest watching the actual trial footage. there is so much stuff left out / or dramatized & completely false. it’s a shame they went through so much.

You really should also react to the Erik Tell All it came out a few years ago and really does a great job of going over the unfairness that went on during the trialing and the different sides of opinions over the case.

tbf he molested him when they were 6 and 8 so not sure how much blame lyle can hold for that if he was reproducing behaviour done to him

Exactly, children who get abused end up recreating that abuse a lot of the time, it’s not their fault, it’s the fault of the adult that taught the child those actions

I agree, I wasn't sure when the molestation happened I was thinking later in life like 15 years old or something

Yeah so, this episode had a lot of exaggerations and unnecessary scenes. Especially the shower scene (I don’t think we needed unnecessary sexualization of the boys) and the escape plan. The letter originally was not an escape plan it was a 17 page heartfelt letter where Lyle put his feelings into words, as far as I know there was no ridiculous escape plan. Also the scenes in jail were obviously exaggerated I’m not even sure if they were put in the same jail, a lot of people including Erik himself were unhappy with the caricature of Lyle in this show. He was described as a caring, calm person who rarely talked back by everyone who testified in court so idk where they got this attitude thing from. Ig they wanted some drama. The next episode is hard hitting, and the acting in ep 5 is incredible. Even Erik himself told Cooper Koch that he did a good job on that episode, he just can’t bring himself to watch it because it’s difficult emotionally. (I’m pretty sure Erik’s wife told him about the show and its content). I’m glad you’ll check out the documentary, I hope it’ll turn out good.
