I definitely understand why people would say things like "I miss the old Jack", because of nostalgia reasons. But you also have to understand that saying "I miss the old you" can hurt. I know it's not meant that way, but it can feel that way. If someone is trying to or has succeeded in improving themselves, saying you miss the person they used to be is jarring because all that effort to be and feel better is suddenly negated or unfavorable because people miss the old version of you. Instead, rather than saying you miss the "old Jack" be more specific! Say "I miss (game name, certain videos, etc)" or "I loved it when he did (action, game, etc)" or things along that line. Those are things he could possibly do in the future to satisfy nostalgia without sacrificing the person he has become since then :)

I totally agree. I have some friends/people in my life right now that tell me that they wish I was the same person I used to be when they *know* I was struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. It breaks my heart to hear it and, as you pointed out, Sean has 20+ million people saying it to him everyday. I just hope he sees the people who love him and appreciate him. I always try to leave nice comments for him. I’ve been noticed a few times and, as happy as it makes me, it makes me happier knowing he saw how much I appreciate him. There’s so much bad that it makes me so happy to know that he can find the good! Ever since he started PMA, I’ve been a way better person. Sean deserves the best (and so does his editor, robin). They are both great people and they have made this channel into something incredible! This was a trip for me. I remember coming home from middle school in 2013 watching every video you uploaded. I remember GTA I remember Undertale I remember happy wheels from ep 13 and on. I have been watching your videos for 5 years without fail and it's felt like 1 year. I remember excactly how nostalgic I felt on the last episode of happy wheels. I feel that again now. Thanks Jack. I remember back when the Undertale playthrough was still going on, I was just getting into it and found someone in the comment section, I think we started rping in the comments? That person? Not only do we still talk, but we're like eachother's everything, interacting with them daily pulled me out of depression, and helped them come out of their own depression along with me. Talking with them, as bad as it sounds, gave me something to live for at the time when I really felt I had no reason to. Crazy to think how much one little comment can change someone's entire course of their life. Thank you for that.

God, that bit 40 minutes in is so good. And good as in I completely agree, I HATE going into the comment sections of so many of my favorite YTer's and the comments are just flooded with garbage like "I miss the old ___" or "they were better back in the day" *insert year span in which people think they were "good"* blah blah blah. No, no one genuinely wants old content, this is why nostalgia is killing so much currently in most industries, what you miss are the feelings of a more simple past that usually comes with being young, and growing older sucks. No one should want anyone on YT to continue to make the same content for YEARS, they need to grow as people, as creators, otherwise people will bitch about how repetitive things are. It's fine to look back on things with love and contentment for a simpler time but those feelings should not then be projected on to other real-life people who are only doing what they're doing on this site for the sake of entertaining others. But being from a country doesn't necessarily mean you have an accent; take it from me, a Scottish Highlander raised in Scotland surrounded by people who speak Scottish accents. I don't myself have such an accent. Never have. My grandfather, father and sisters are the only ones in my family to have Scottish accents. Everyone else is English, or somewhere between. But while I don't have the accent, I can speak sentences in Scots Gaelic. I can speak the language without the accent. In the same way that Scottish isn't a language, but an accent, so too is Irish.

That's not a sad origin story at all. I've said it before a long while back on a video (can't remember which), but your videos have helped me through some really shit times, depressive episodes that were many months long, stressful times, awful times, and into the good times. The first video of yours I ever watched was the first turbo dismount, and I was hooked. One of my two closest friends in the world has become so (at least in part) through our shared love of your content, you've brought us both out of very dark places. I've grown up with you and your content, Sean, to the sixteen year old I am today through thick and thin. Thank you for all you've done, you will be remembered in the annals of history as a good man for all of us you've helped, saved even. Thank you Sean, from all of us.
