I currently have a 5.5 gallon tank but I plan on getting a 20 gallon or bigger by the end of the month. I just got mine a few days ago with one of them being from the beach market which I had no idea was so abusive until I looked it up when I got home. The next day I went to the pet store and got him a friend. Right now I'm waiting for my turbo shells to arrive in the mail hoping that they will ditch those nasty, painted shells! I've been spending money left and right to properly care for these guys 😣 after doing homework I just feel so horrible for supporting the beach trade even though I didn't know how cruel it is.
@hermitshoundsandhorses99714 жыл бұрын
It's okay! We have all been there. It is great to hear that you are researching and taking proper care of your crabs now!
@bezelleblanc25804 жыл бұрын
@@hermitshoundsandhorses9971 Thanks! I'm doing my best. The one from the beach market unfortunately passed away because my duel thermometer and hydrometer didn't work properly so once my electric thermostat that plugs into the heat pad came in the mail it told me that my tank was 86 degrees farenheit! 😥 my other one survived just fine and is rather active plus I got him two more cage mates from Petco that are settling in wonderfully. All of them are eating and changing shells but after that incident I've been keeping a close eye on the temperature and I returned the busted thermostat.

Are vertical enclosures ok for hermit crabs?

Yes, but the amount of crabs you can have is determined by molting space, so it limits the number of crabs.

@hermitshoundsandhorses99715 жыл бұрын
Stay calm, they are probably molting or at least de-stressing, which is common for newly purchased crabs. If they do come, I recommend feeding them popcorn, honey, cashews, and any type of meat are their favorites.
