I do want to make a note that I do not advocate for or support outdoor hutches or cages for guinea pigs. There are many predators as well as temperature concerns. If you wish to have your guinea pigs outside I advocate for having a temperature regulated environment or only doing it at times of the year where there is suitable weather. I made comments and critiques on the outdoor setup in this video based on what it was - although I always believe having piggies in a temp controlled and predator proof environment is best.

Thank you so much for reviewing my cage! It was cage #8, and we have really changed our setups since then!! We have tried pairing the male with others, and unfortunately he was harmed in the process. I have given the bed to the rabbits, but when the pigs had it they did go on top of it and it was the cutest thing! I got shelving from Home Depot, and now my cages have coroplast and are up high!

Hai!!! Im a new subscriber and i have been watching your videos alllll week!!! I absolutely loved all of them especially the adoption/bonding, monthly haul and cage theme tour videos! All of your piggies are soooo cute and i love their food themed names. I have 2 piggies of my own, Star and Moon! They have a 10 square foot cage and plenty of toys and hideys. I recently found star/moon/celestial fleece blankets at Walmart, which is where i get my fleece as they are only 3$ per blanket and i only need about 1 and 1 third of a blanket to cover the cage. I’m thinking of doing a celestial theme because I was so inspired by all your amazing cage themes, I have never really tried making a theme for the cage I just put whatever fleece I have cleaned but I really love the idea of doing themes! Love your videos! -Jules

Cage number one.... I'm wondering what kind of weather proofing do you have??? If there was any rain or snow at all it looks like all the piggies and their hay would be completely wet. With that diy cage from India, If those are full sheets of plexiglass, I would definitely try to switch those out with some metal grids or other material that would allow air in when the top is shut. You could make something at the top with ventilation that the roof could sit on top of allowing air flow to come on through the top as well. But I did really love the design of your cage.

Hello girl, I have 2 whose with enough space because they are small (approx 4-7 months) and I have some questions. When can I bathe them Do they need more company? because my whose always makes "grrrrrr" to run to the other? Byeeee ty
@autumngrace.2 жыл бұрын
You can bathe them whenever you feel it’s needed. Just don’t bathe them more than 2-3 times a year. Use anti fungal shampoo and I recommend scottys animals for a how to video. As long as they are not biting each other they are fine. I’m not sure what sound you’re referring to but as long as there’s no blood you’re good. More space may help them argue less, I recommend 10-12 feet for a pair of girls. If they are boys def go for 12+ square feet

Hi! I may get 2-3 Guinea pigs in 3-4 months (that’s when we’re moving in to our house because the rental we are currently in does not allow pets so I’m using this time for tons of research) (Dads House) Im thinking about making a huge c and c playpen with an an outdoor hutch in it but place the hutch inside. Would that be okay? The hutch would be open to the playpen 24/7 so they can run around. I will also try to keep my rooms clean and let them free roam at my dads as I have a dog at my moms. (Moms House) At my moms I will use a (hopefully) 5x2 or 6x2 c and c cage but my dog is normally scared of small things that can move so she may not bother them. I will free roam them as much as I can as I only let my dog in my room at night because she does sleep with me. I would love to keep them in an identical environment but since I have a dog I cannot keep them on the floor 24/7 as I don’t want my dog attacking them while I am asleep. My dog does bark when she’s in her crate at night which we probably won’t sleep as well, so I do have to sleep with her because I did commit to full responsibility (when I’m at my moms at least)! Sorry if this is very scattered!! I would just like some tips to make sure my Guinea pigs are living their best life! Extra info: My parents will live 4 minutes away from each other so hopefully it’s not a long car ride, It will be a schedule where every week we only switch Friday Nights and Sunday nights, and my brother is getting piggies as well and I’m trying to convince him to keep them with mine, but I would like to know if it’s okay to socialize them for hours at a time then take them away from each other so I want to know if it’s cruel or we just don’t have to socialize our piggies. I am the oldest of 4 siblings and I will have to make sure my younger sisters (6 and 4) are extra gentle! Again I’m welcome to any tips!
@autumngrace.2 жыл бұрын
Hi, About taking your Guinea pigs back and forth between your moms and dads, I wouldn’t do it. Guinea pigs are prey animals and the constant car trips & new environments can cause then a LOT of stress. Doing this repeatedly, even just once a week, is incredibly stressful for them. If they get too stressed from the constant change in environment it could lead to health issues such as GI stasis. Also, personally, I would never let a dog be in the same room as pigs unless it was supervised - meaning I am awake, not sleeping. As for play dates, that also stresses them out. If you put them together you need to plan to keep them together. For socialization they should live in a minimum of pairs 24/7
@sav2762 жыл бұрын
@@autumngrace. thank you so much for the tips! I will try to ask my dad if he can help, otherwise if not, i can always just stop by everyday considering the short drive! I will try to convince my brother to keep his pigs with mine 24/7! Thank you again so much!

hello! I was wondering what you recommend putting in a litterbox besides hay. Also, what is your suggested amount of hay they should be getting?
@autumngrace.2 жыл бұрын
You can use bedding such as paper based bedding or kiln dried aspen. They should have unlimited hay 24/7, and a Guinea pig typically eats twice it’s body size in hay daily so a large pile is best!

@autumngrace.2 жыл бұрын
I agree but neutering your male can be expensive in some areas and also risky depending on their age, so that’s why I went with the male buddy route just because it’s more accessible. Mine like the Niteangel forage ball! They have to push it around to help the treats come out!

autumn when you see people with too small of cages please recommend them the amazon basics midwest it’s only abt 30 dollars and is the cheapest way to upgrade to my knowledge it’s an amazing cage that was my starter cage when my babes came to me in a pet store cage being im a kid and didn’t have the money to build a C&C:)
@autumngrace.2 жыл бұрын
Hi I personally don't believe the amazon midwest is enough space for two adult pigs which is why I don't recommend it. I had two females in that cage when they were babies and once they were adults it just wasn't enough space for them. I believe females need at least 10 square feet and males need 12, so the midwest doesn't meet either of my personal recommendations.

Re. living outside, where I live it is perfectly normal and accepted. When I had rabbits they were outside 24/7, they are designed to live in this climate. They had a secure enclosure that protected from predators. My rabbits had an inside area and a large run (it was a converted dog kennel). They were outside in the run 99% of the time which IMO speaks for itself. My piggies lived out in summer and inside over winter. I just got into guinea pig ownership again a few days ago and they are living inside. I do hope in future, to have a temperature controlled shed/garage for them and they can have access to a run should they choose to go outside.
