@@cheap272 New York is ranked 29th in team assists per game this year only ahead of Portland. That falls on the point guard. And yes Cleveland is ranked 10th however Darius garland is an amazing passer so definitely skewing the numbers there.

I mean I don’t think a Brunson Mitchell back court would be good enough defensively tbh. Both are fine if they’re your worst defender, especially now as Mitchell has become a bit better of a defender. But Brunson and Mitchell, doesn’t seem ideal especially bc you’d have to end up paying them both the max very soon. I think NYK did well in getting OG as long as he can stay healthy. DDV is a pretty awesome bench guy on the MLE. Hart is good, but I don’t think you can start Brunson Hart OG Randle and MitchRob. I think they’ll eventually need to move Hart with picks and filler or w/e and get like a 6’5-6’8 wing that can shoot, play defense, and occasionally get their own bucket. Either that or move Randle and picks for a really good SF/PF. I do really like Hart, but between MitchRob or iHart and Randle, I just don’t think there’s enough shooting. Hart doesn’t take enough 3s and just isn’t that volume 3P shooter. Maybe if MitchRob can stay healthy it’ll be a lot easier bc he makes so little and they can keep Hart and still add another wing idk. Or maybe Randle will finally be consistent as a shooter and put it all together. They have a decent amount of picks and they have a lot of flexibility. Definitely need to add a guy, but don’t think it can be another small guard.

Tbh, the argument that Brunson caps you at a 1st/2nd round exit isnt a horrible one, no one saw this version of him coming. And maybe the Knicks still are that, or maybe JB elevates in the playoffs to a 1A player. But i think its more of a long term build move, you want the star players to want to join and play with Brunson not join a 12th seed with a bunch of kids. An eventual, for example Embiid trade doesnt work if you dont have Brunson otherwise you are just remaking the 6ers in Nyc. If a star player wants out its to pair with a Brunson not start again as a solo in another market. Its hard not to cringe at this take and credit you for going back, I remember thinking this was harsh at the time but who knew JB was that guy

May be an unpopular take, but Im just not buying the “contenders” label being slapped on the Knicks and Cavs until they actually prove it in the playoffs. Still feels like the Heat would be licking their chops at either of those matchups, and they pretty much just mail in regular seasons at this point. You can throw the 76ers in that pretenders category too

Nah Knicks are definitely contenders when healthy. They blew out the sixers with Embiid, the nuggets by 40, and the timberwolves. They will be a very tough out if healthy. Only team in the east that would be able to beat them imo is Boston.

I'm not sure this is that bad of a take. You've won one playoff series. Will U win more? I guess that is a time to tell thing. But the mentioning of not having that 1A player I reckon is still true. U can't win a championship with Brunson as your best player I don't believe that. Then U have to eventually pay Brunson 40 million plus, og 30 mil plus then Randle. So yes U can trade the picks but you're hampered by cap. Idk if this take is completely wrong. U definately still need that 1A player.

There aren't that many 1A players available that you can just get on ur team like that. Dumping a bad contract and signing an All-nba PG on a steal of a deal is a massive W even if you don't end up winning a chip fr fr.
