I’m glad you like newjeans Johan. They’re really helping me during all this LOONA stuff - I miss our moon girls! Ditto was giving me some of the feelings I had when I first got into LOONA. :) my favorite theory is that the girls died in the accident that broke her wrist, but I don’t think that’s right haha. A lot of folks are saying it’s about her attachment to idols through the screen - and when she’s grown up and pops in the VHS it’s like no time passes and the girls come in her bedroom now that she’s ready to see them again. @@chii365 it's the nature of parasocial relationships, it doesn't always necessarily have to be a bad thing. Idols and their music can be a salve for many during hard times.

This is Parasocial relationships with idols if you see the video you can tell that they can only be seen through a camera! Which means like WE see new jeans only through a camera and imagine ourselves with them..this video is about parasocial relationships we have with idols because some of us are lonely..the actress in the videos full name is BAN HESSO (bunnies) (newjeans fandom name) which is us. she is us. Most people say "kpop saved my life" which is false everyone who ends up loving kpop is usually in pain or lonely which is symbolised with the cast on hessos hand and the actress gets older and watches new jeans by that they mean that they are not going anywhere no matter how old you get a part of them will always be somewhere on the internet. The deer symbolises moving on and a new change in life that hurt people need to make. New jeans is just politely telling us that they are here for us but theres only so much they can do we have to help ourselves at the end. It's just a "yeah we love you but don't forget to have your own life and have fun ok?" Kind of message to their fans. Which is rare and much needed in kpop.

my theory is that the videos are about peoples reliance on coping mechanisms and how they can hold people back, in the video the girl is relying on new jeans which is holding her back from meeting the boy she likes and making friends. its supposed to show that people shouldnt get too attached to kpop idols basically(thats how i see it anyways) also the girl filming is played by a korean actress so shes most likely not joining the group

Love your reactions, although I had watched it many times already I still relate to your feelings when you looked shocked or touched by the video. The main scheme about it is that we all looked up to our idols when we are young, and they keep us company and give us strengths when we feeling low. The dear represents the “imaginary” life, when the dear leaves, the 6th girl which is “us”, found the strength to face the reality. Even though we had grown up, the warmth of the memories will still last.

the theory that has gotten the most steam is that the members of New Jeans and Heesoo were a friend group and Heesoo just filmed stuff with them as friends do, but they all got into an accident of sorts and Heesoo was the only one that made it out alive, just getting the cast on her arm. She is reliving her memories with them through the video she made and she starts to film again in the same places they filmed originally. She sturggles to let go and move on with her life but she meets the boy in the mv and she drops the camera to finally move on. that's the theory atleast that is the most popular one.

@@oogaboogass i dont think there is meant to be a right or wrong theory its pretty open to interpretation and the reason i believe the first one is because of her cast. They wouldnt have put that in the video if it wasnt significant in some way otherwise they couldve used a different symbol.

the storytelling in this mv is just everything to me. heesoo leaving nwjns behind and finally covering herself with her umbrella, finally acknowledging reality and deciding to take care of herself instead of living in a fantasy forever, it gets me every time.

Yeah this is a pre-release of the album before the main title song is unveil, I guess perhaps we heard a fragment of the main title song in Side A MV when Hee Soo recording them dancing before the actual Ditto song play. According to the producer interview this song is actually dedicated to the fandom Bunnies, so the 6th girl here name Ban Hee Soo which is resemblance to the Fandom Bunnies. Supposingly Side A is resemblance how we enter the fandom of kpop idol, that's why they choose 90s as the background timeline because most of the fandom from 90s experience their complete cycle of falling into a fandom and then get addict to it as Side A show which is a bit paranoid or even unhealthy and also getting out of fandom eventually as we grew older as shown in Side B. However this entire Bunnies fandom Metaphor concept of the producer is too abstract for the scriptwriter/director to develop into a Side A Side B full MV plotline. So the director fill in the gaps by inserting a tons of metaphor and hint of storyline. From Side A we could have notice that New Jeans is wearing brown coat uniform while the rest of them including Hee Soo is wearing blue coat uniform and from final scene in Side B where New Jeans walk into this school club room perhaps, there is a glimpse of Hee Soo arm ain't casted like the rest of MV yet. Which suggest a theory that the VHS tape was actually recording during last Winter/Spring season where they wear a warmer clothes and blue coat uniform and Hee Soo ain't wearing cast yet. However during Winter, something happen, perhaps a car accident or what hit on a deer or such, the rest of New Jeans passed away and Hee Soo alone survive with only her arm injury. So the entire story is actually driven by Hee Soo survivor guilt PTSD. In Side A, she refuse to accept the fact of their passing, so she lingered on to the camrecorder to fantasying their existence and even join them in the rain without using her umbrella. If you know korean and pay attention to what they wrote on her cast, there is a word of "Don't Die" on it. Whereas in Side B is she begin to realise her hallucination perhaps thanks to the boy help outside of the focus of this MV. He successfully help distract her from her fantasy and hallucination until she ignore New Jeans under the rain and walk away with her umbrella this times and even drop her camrecorder. End of the day, she finally walk out of her PTSD and join for a walk with the boy back home. Until many years later she return to this club room of her school and replay this VHS again this times, she is brave enough to face her old trauma, her old friends.
