One point that is rarely mentioned: be aware of your physical limitations. I use my Kitchen Aid mixer once a month or so AND I'm 67. It doesn't fit in my corner countertop cabinet. It makes no sense for me to store it under the counter because it's so darn heavy to lift! Besides I saved for my 'Big Blue' mixer for years and love looking at it! I want to continue to make muffins and cookies for my grandbabies for a long time!
@ManageableLiving4 ай бұрын
Yes, that is an important point! Plus I also feel like Kitchen Aid appliances are designed with the purpose of being display-able. My air fryer is hefty so while I don't use it everyday, it's not getting put back away until I switch back to the oven regularly.

And Nick even says that! I ❤ that you have a passion for baking. I'm a science nerd who never developed the patience of all the measure it requires. It must be my gemini nature that i just like to throw things together and have @it.
@zelphiaellerson6283Ай бұрын
@@beckieinhorn lol!!! I'm chuckling because I'm a former computer/IT geek and am 'neurodivergent'. My baking is easy because I researched (and bought!) lots of measuring cups and spoons, then list the exact one on each recipe card. My other hobbies-knitting, quilting, gardening show my creative, impatient side! It's all about having fun!

"Work with your behaviour patterns" is the best organizational advise. Regarding not much space in the entrance area: I just put a simple shelf directly OVER the door (if you fit through the door, you wont hit your head). Then I put Ikea boxes on top so that they are directly under the ceiling. Its closed storage (like drawers) and they have themse - rain, picknic, shoes, bike-stuff, sporty stuff (like for swimming). Works perfect for me and does neither add visual clutter nor takes up any floor or wall space.
@ManageableLiving4 ай бұрын
Agreed! That's what I realized too when I was standing in front of the hook sign is I could put those low use necessities at the height of the door. I'll find a shelf and a tray or bin to pop up there. 😊

I just found your channel (thanks KZbin) and I subscribed. I really like your vibe/energy and delivery. I can't wait to go watch more of your videos. Also, I got in the habit of keeping my toaster on a shelf in my hall closet when not in use a couple of years ago and it is so nice not looking at it when not in use. I probably do use it almost every morning, but really it's only in use for a couple of minutes, so after it cools down a few minutes I automatically put it away. My home is really small and that has made a huge difference in how my kitchen looks without that toaster clutter! 😉
@ManageableLiving3 ай бұрын
Thank you 💜 I like having the toaster away but I'm so terrible about remembering to put it away after it cools off. I have so little counter space though that it does get put away a lot. I do want to get to a point where I also put the air fryer away more since lately I don't use it much. I do prefer it in the summer over the oven though!
@michellebarnes40943 ай бұрын
@@ManageableLiving I agree that the air fryer is great in the summer. I don't have much counter space either or a stove vent that vents to the outside of the house (my oven really heats up my kitchen), so I don't like to use the oven too much in the summer. Thanks for the reply and keep up your great videos! Hugs from VA!

His videos have been coming into my feed, so I'm familiar with him. He has a lot of practical ideas. I don't agree with all of what he says, but he's definitely worth watching. Regarding my countertop, I don't have any space to store my big air fryer. I could probably squeeze my Instant Pot in a bottom cabinet, but I use it a few times a week. But this inspires me to take out everything in my kitchen cabinets (I live in apartment style building), and organize the cookware/containers better to try to make space for the Instant Pot. It's a goal. I'm not totally against it. The air fryer isn't going to fit because of the shelving inside the cabinets. Inspiration is everything. - For storage, I like the opaque white baskets at Target. They are inexpensive, so if I get something nicer - like a closed cabinet, I would not mind giving them away. - I'm with you on the over the toilet cabinets. That's a big no, and I have one pretty small bathroom. I keep my toilet paper in pretty tote bag in my bedroom closet. I only need one roll at a time lol.

Hi, I'm new here. As someone with a really tiny entryway I would recommend either a shoe cabinet like STALL from ikea (17cm deep) or another similar. Noone stops you from putting something other than shoes in there. Or you could get those little drawers like the moppe from ikea (18 cm deep) and suspend it on your wall. You can store a lot in but it's not big enough for you to just throw random things on top of it. I have 2 moppes in my entryway and it's perfect, I also love it because since it's attached to the wall the walkway is free

@@ManageableLiving what I like about Nick, he is simple, funny, not into overconsumption, he often denounces it, in one of these recent videos he explains that influencers are paid to change decor and that it pays to suggest lots new things all the time, but he's not into that.

@@ManageableLiving I'm happy when an influencer (YT, Instagram, etc.) dots the "i's" and crosses the "t's" by reminding people about real life, real budgeting, that it's normal that we are no means to do that, overconsumption. There aren't enough people talking about it, I came across people like Cass (Clutterbug, minimalists like you) because I was tired of the overconsumption of excessive and perfect products, which we find on the networks. Every time I say to myself, well see the house, the trips, the clothes... they pay for that, how realistic it is. He also has Hannah Alonzo, who denounces the networks' false stuff, she also denounces MLMs etc.

@ManageableLiving2 ай бұрын
Yeah, I've been going back and forth on at least a salt shaker because if I leave any of those out, it's likely salt. But even then I'd put it away for company (assuming it's not needed) or I'm doing a general tidy. If you have nice shakers, and a pretty olive oil bottle and you either love cooking enough to show them off or have super limited cupboard space I could see that.
