It makes me disproportionately happy every time you say "she just cut off 7" of hair!" or "that was a good 3" of hair," because you clearly understand what an inch is. I went to a salon and asked for an inch maybe two off, to get rid of the split ends and I even showed her with my fingers. She literally took five to seven inches off and I cried.
@maleficara2 жыл бұрын
I had an experience like this. Tips of my hair hit my waistband in the back. A stylist told her to get off the dead ends keep the length. Warned that my hair shrinks a lot because I have a sneaky, very subtle curl pattern. When she was done, my hair dusted the tops of my shoulders. I paid, totally in shock, and walked out and began weeping. She just kept going, even as I looked in in terror and told her it was way, way too short.
@Peachy_crow2 жыл бұрын
Ugh, similar thing happened to me a few months ago. Wanted 4 inches off of my hip length hair, even showed her the cut off point too. She cut like 16 inches and my hair became barely shoulder length 😭😭 I literally went through the 5 stages of acceptance

Piece of advice for the dominant/not dominant issue when trying to make things even: start with your non-dominant side. It’s then easier to copy the results with your dominant side and get things even. This helps with makeup/winged liner, etc. too.

I've had my hair professionally cut 3 times in my whole life, and I thought until my mid/late teens that cutting one's own hair was the norm and people only went to salons for special occasions (like balls, weddings, graduations etc) unless they were really rich. Kind of a shock to learn that a LOT of people regularly go to salons lol, we always did at-home haircuts in my family. Anyway, the last time I went to a salon I was hugely disappointed. Was doing a pretty major hair change, wanted a super layered style and was scared to do it on my own. I found a salon that I felt like I could trust, they did some kind of alternative stuff which is what I wanted, so I chose them despite it being a bit more pricey than I'd like. Showed the lady about a dozen inspo pics to let her know what I wanted..... and yet she somehow managed to just give me a Karen bob. I got her to take a little more off but I was still hugely unhappy with it so the next day I stood in my bathroom chopping my own damn layers, and despite having zero hair cutting experience I was pretty damn pleased with the result! Definitely not going to pay a professional again.

Hello Brad, you probably don't read the comments to this video anymore, but here goes: for the longest time I was afraid to come anywhere close to my hair with scissors, but after binging a few of your videos I gathered the courage today and cut my own hair, giving myself bangs and all (plain old curtain bangs and straight cut everywhere else). I was a little shy and did not cut to the length I would have liked (left it an inch or two longer but still cut about five inches), in case I scew up royally, but it turned out good. The bangs are perfect and while the straight cut is not very straight, you don't notice the unevenness at all once the hair is dry. For my first try I am very proud and it is thanks to you. Now I will leave it for a few weeks, repeat the process a couple more times to get my hands sure and steady and then I will try your wolf cut that has intrigued me for ages now. Until then, baby steps. Thank you so much, you are an inspiration!

I used Brad’s tutorial to do the shag haircut and it was soooo easy and it was the best haircut I’ve EVER had. A bit after I had to go to a professional to trim some fried hair and I asked them to do it like I had it before and they failed miserably, so if you go to a professional make sure they are trained well in this cut!

The trick for the face framing is brilliant and IDK why I never thought of it and why people wouldn't include it. It adds so much and makes it waaay easier to frame the face than trying to just cut at a sharp angle.

I used Brad's tutorial (I even wet my hair first) and the results were very cool! My hair is long, wavy and naturally almost black with grey streaks (I'm 44!). So happy with the results, the weight of my hair had been pulling the waviness down and it was a nightmare to style. But with Brad's wolf cut it looks great, is really easy to style and I can still put it up for work! Love you Brad!

That was my haircut beginning in the mid 1970s. So funny to see people doing it today. I'd had waist length hair but got it cut to like mid back in order to have a long shag. I used to put 2 boxes of hot rollers in my hair, takevthem out when cool,, bend over at the waist and brush it out then do a big hairflip and use some hair spray right away. I' had awesome layers and could get great volume with that method. I remember I used some clariol hair treatment that went in the hotroller water and I had another treatment to put on my hair, they had a great aroma. Despite using hot rollers almost daily and putting a lot of acessories in my hair my hair was in great shape. I kept that same haircut (admittedly too long before a new style) until like 1985, lol.

Last time I went to a salon, I was charged $120 and came out with a crack mullet. That is a mullet that looks like the hairdresser was on crack when she cut it, and you come out with a mullet that makes you look like you smoke crack. And it destroyed my curl pattern. That was the last of a series of horrendous cuts that has gone on through almost my entire life. Now my teenage daughter cuts my hair. She also has curly hair, so she understands textured hair better than the majority of hairdressers in Australia.
