When I first went into the ant cave in the Deeproot Depths where you get all those Numen's Runes, I thought it was the game's way of telling me the giant ants are Numen. Since they are "of the same stock as Queen Marika herself," and since you find Elden Stars close by which describes how a "beast" came down to the Lands Between on a star, I began to wonder if Marika's true form was actually some eldritch ant horror. Seeing the Elden Beast's somewhat insectoid features (wings especially) seemed to confirm this at the time, and I came to believe that Marika and Radagon both were simply humanoid personas the Elden Beast "acted" as (hence the fractured shell of Marika left behind after killing the beast). Some of the lore I missed about the Numen before finishing the game pokes potential holes in this theory (pretty sure the ants are not Numen), but I still like it.
@Wraff2 жыл бұрын
So the ants are not numen, no, but I love this anyway. Wild speculation and diving into the story are part of what makes these games so fun!
@pievancl54572 жыл бұрын
Cool theory, but no, the Ainsel River (and all underground areas) was once all above ground and was sunken to the underworld by gravity magic. The ants have then taken over. Marika and radagon are not related to the greater will or the Elden beast. The Elden beast was sent down to the lands between to govern in place of the greater will, like a vassal state. The Elden beast is comprised of the rules of the greater will, thus it is the Elden ring (a container for it). The Elden ring is essentially like the physical laws of the universe. The greater will needed a “humanoid” form in order to truly rule the lands between, so that’s why marika was chosen to play this role and was granted the power of the greater will via the Elden ring, thus becoming a god herself. She started to question whether the greater will is benevolent or not, came to the conclusion that free will is better, and thus shattered the Elden ring, in a sense breaking the rules of the world which is why we find it in disarray and a state of decay and war.
@matiasluukkanen77182 жыл бұрын
Or rather, Unnamed Eternal City tried to plot against the Greater Will by "killing" their Dark Moon patron to be harvested into memory stones, material for silver tears etc. So Outer Gods retaliated, first Moon sending Astel taking away the night-sky and leveling the Unnamed City. Then Elden Beast transformed the rebellious Numen into ants as a punishment. Survivors fled to Nokron and Nokstella. Elden Ring/Elden Beast is known as Shaper of Life after all, and Elden Stars incantation is found near the ants. One who controls/shapes life could punish Numen by transforming them into something inhuman.

You hate them until you kill them. Jokes aside, I seriously thought you would end up locking yourself into the worst ending. Read the description for the 'Elden Stars' enchantment for a nice lore dump. EDIT: Rewatching after two months, I noe know and notice a lot more. The Elden Beast, Radagon/Marika and the Erdtree itself are all cracked in the same place: the lower ventral portion; it is strongly implied the Rune of Death was the roots of the Elden Ring, as shown for instance in the pre-Golden-Orden representation of the Ring in Maliketh's arena, and that when the Elden Ring was broken it was just above the roots, as the latter became the realm of the Prince of Death. The existence of Those who Walk in Death is blamed on the Erdtree being separated from its roots and thus no longer reacheable by the deceased.

I disagree with these bosses being trash, but I understand. I personally think Radagon AND Elden Beast are a 9/5 out of 10. Any boss that has the "You can just dodge by jumping over their attacks" gets plus points in my heart because it adds an extra layer of fun to the fight. Just like Malenia's sudden kicks, once you get the hang of dodging them, it's always a guarantee that she'll be vulnerable to an attack after. Same applies to Radagon's teleport attacks; however, make it a habit to dodge twice in quick succession because he will mostly follow it up with a quick hammer swipe. I love that you can dodge almost all their AOE attacks by simply jumping over them. I think that's why I love Elden Beast way more than most people. You can jump over most of its sword slashes instead of just dodge rolling which makes it really fun because it doesn't't feel like like you're i-framing through the attack but actually dodging it. In my opinion, despite Elden Beast's size, I found that the camera didn't frick me over like with most other big bosses. Unlike most other people, I wasn't hugging Elden Beast, so I was able to see all of its attacks; however, I can't discredit how RNG based this boss is. For me, he didn't always run far, did his fun to dodge attacks, was aggressive and didn't spam his annoying attacks. Others however had to deal with a lot of spell spam, Elden Stars cheese, and running away, so I may have been lucky. I could talk about why Radadgon is an 11/10 boss, but it would take me forever. Kinda sad you feel this way about them, but I understand
@Wraff2 жыл бұрын
Sadly a lot of the Elden Ring bosses are a miss for me. I truly wish that weren't the case. Subjectively, to me, they are not fun. Maybe that will change but I'm just not a fan of the design philosophy they went with for boss fights in this game.
@someguythatdoesstuff76582 жыл бұрын
I actually agree with this sentiment. A lot - but not most - of the bosses in Elden Ring kinda suck ass. I also agree with the fact that FromSoft's boss design philosophy kinda prevents a lot of fun. Duo fights, unbearably long wind-ups, unpredictabe and instantaneous double attacks (Misbegotten Warrior's claw scratches and Margit's light knife swipes), one-shot attacks, the camera siding with the boss instead of you, terrible and small arenas, things to force into running to them or away... there are a lot of things that FromSoft did that I did not like and if there's a boss that exemplifies this it's got to be the Death Rite Bird, the boss I hate the most in Elden Ring. The camera will fuck you over, his attacks are hard to telegraph, his range attacks have way too much projectiles, the lingering fire's actual cancer, and it has a lot of moves that are hard to avoid and one-shot you. It also has my most hated attack in the entire game which is the Frostfire Nuke. After the initial explosion (which has a long-ass windup), it sends trails of fire way to thick to dodge through and deal INSANE damage. I would rather let Malenia Waterfowl my ass with dual whips than actually have to fight the Death Rite Bird again. Nothing about the fight was fun and all I felt was frustration.

I don't want to see Marika as my goddess. I want to see Radagon as my god. I want to be Radagon's consort.

@ 1:54 is the moment you earned a Sub from me; you don’t know how much it means to me when a streamer is very interactive and enthusiastic about their content. All love!

How can this be her first reaction though? She has two wings of astel. Can you get more than one without NG+ ??????????

I haven't played (much of) Bloodborne to compare it to, but as a first time Souls player (save for a few hours of Bloodborne), I had the same thoughts as you on the ending of Elden Ring. It's a fantastic game, but it started to lose me somewhat after about Leyndell. Lot of reasons for that, but it just didn't stick the landing. I did end up enjoying a lot of the boss fights in the last section, I'll give it that, but I was also over-leveled and following a very powerful build guide, so my cowardly opinion on that doesn't carry a lot of weight.

Well played. Not a fan of both fights myself, but it is the Elden Beast that pisses me off more than Radagon. Also, after seeing you dodge Elden Beast's multi spam, I wonder if you're good at shmups. :p Anyways, they deserve your v-bag.

Y don't u like the fight? I thought it was pretty fun, especially Radagon. He's one of the best bosses in the game imo.

Well played gg, i actually really enjoyed the fight myself, only fights i hated were godskin duo and Melania. They just felt unfair
@Wraff2 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you like them! While I didn't vibe very much with these two fights, I still love the game a lot

@@Wraff glad you're still enjoyed it, i like how you went full melee as well. I find spells a bit boring, well the ranged ones anyway

@@Wraff I vibe with these fights they are great fights they are stressful that’s why you feel that way. But it’s ok. Not for everyone. At ng +6 and 7 I’m happy with em they are so fun

To me Radagon was the toughest not Melenia, based around the amount of time I spent fighting him. However, I did watch quite a few Melenia fights online while I knew nothing about Radagon
