im like 8 hours into the game and just discovered it, if this is one of the best places then man that game sucks compared to dark souls, they traded beautiful detailed locations for large empty landscapes with copy pasted ruins. Some games should stay linear...

Best part is you actually reach that sideways building when you enter from the crater of the falling star and can see the elevator shaft you went down from the other side. It's not just foreshadowing what's below artificially because you actually go there too.

@@Bones_ one of the best parts of the game; even in some of the fking caves you look at things and go wow, amazing view… then find out you get to live in it later. It’s like traversing a real life mountain during a hike, and looking down to see where you started, but somehow more clever with the world building of progress and what the game remembers to show you; it’s a real world.Truly magnificent.

What I love above all else about the moment you stumble upon this place is that it is the moment Elden Ring sets itself apart from any other game... There's a freaking entire map under the map, and there are like 4-5 secret zones with some having secret zones hidden inside them... and NONE of them are marked, you don't get told to go there, it's not the typical modern AAA crap of: Hey, we spent money making this content so here's a marker so you know you have to go there and "discover" it. Elden Ring just has it there, and if you find it good for you, if not then better luck next time. Elden Ring is a game that doesn't treat the player like an idiot. Elden Ring is a game that is not afraid to be played. And that's why no other AAA studio can emulate the sheer sense of discovery that From Software achieves with their games.

@@jojomuppet1820 It’s definitely something different. Much more linear, smaller and entirely different combat style. But once you get the combat down and the whole ‘hesitation is defeat’ thing sinks in, it’s literally the best combat system I have experienced. It’s super satisfying and cinematic, very rewarding too.

I remember taking my 2 friends down there together, and their reactions were so fucking funny XD. They're like "wait a second"... its just so funny, because there is still so much to still do up top at this point in the game, and then they show you a space just as big as where you just were is insane LMAO.

what i like about the underground sections of the game is that From could've easily made them into a DLC sized location but they didn't. Like the idea of underground places could've been DLC, but instead its in the base game! I can't imagine how massive the Miquella DLC will be on release.

I'm so glad I found this elevator before spoiling it for myself. Back when this game first came out, everyone was racing to find every nook and cranny of the game. I was too, but it was the first souls game I really got into so I was going relatively slowly. I did play ds3 before but only like 15-20 hours. This moment stood out to me in a game with a bunch of standout moments. It represented to me the incredible vastness of the lands between. From Software added so much stuff to see everywhere that it creates the magic of a perfectly curated story. Stories with magic tend to let on that there is more to the world than what the audience sees. It captures the imagination and fosters dedicated communities. This can be difficult to do in a videogame, because the developers have limitations to how much they can reasonably make. A player can easily test the limits of the world by hitting an invisible barrier or similar acts that break immersion. Elden Ring ignores this trend by making a huge world with lots of hidden content. When the player tests the limits of the world, they might be disappointed, or they might be amazed by a secret area or item or boss. The effort this must have taken to make the player feel the organic excitement of exploration must have been immense.

I still can’t wrap my mind around siofra river. Fromsoft put a whole map under this tiny gazebo that could easily go unnoticed by many players. It was pure magic when I randomly found it. I was running from a rune bear and I just ducked into this random building, accidentally triggered the elevator, and the rest was the best video game moment I’ve ever had.
