On the issue of military, my understanding is that there are basically two polarising camps: one that supports BTS to be exempted given their contributions to national prestige, promotion of culture and economic opportunities; the other camp opposes military exemption, mainly because of principle of "fairness" (all able-bodied men are required to serve), and fear the danger of setting a precedent by allowing K pop artists to be exempted when there is no objective standard to evaluate whether they are eligible for exemption. Because for athletes and musicians that win gold medals/ prizes in international competition, there is a measurable benchmark. So this is very polarising and controversial in Korean society. Some may view exemption as favoritism or preferential treatment towards BTS, and one can imagine other Kpop entertainment agencies will clamour for their groups to be exempted too.

You have to keep in mind that this is the album he worked after the 2022 fiesta, that state of mind, that kind of lost. Indigo was pretty much done before and even what he did after, as they said, he kept a lot inside.. But you definitely got the idea from Wildflower, the struggle. But also the making of the album process, how much pressure he put on himself, how much he asked from himself. Thank he worked with Balming Tiger, met that ansamble of writers and he accepted that he could do music, say what he wanted to say with no need to do it all by himself.. That is liberation too, and maybe that creative process alow him to be more honest, more direct with what he wanted to say. I surely I'm happy he did not enlist before, that he gave himself time to release that tension so that he would enter military service less tensed(even if he pressured hims about that too:))

Some context about BTS's military service for you guys. Before BTS enlisted, there were many opinions about whether they should be exempted from military service or not, and BTS members always affirmed that they were ready to enlist when the government called. BTS is the only idol group with a cultural medal, so they were allowed to postpone military service until age 30 instead of 28. At that time, 26 entertainment companies (not including bighit) spoke up to request a change in the law so other idols may enlist late, those companies reason is other idols don't have enough time to work to achieve the same achievements as BTS. From then on, it was a long media war with other entertainment companies and political figures. Jin, because he was the oldest, was under a lot of pressure at that time. HYBE's CEO at that time handled everything superficially and poorly, leading to everything in the media going out of control. After that, HYBE held an emergency press conference, but instead of the CEO, they forced BTS (at that time was preparing for the opening of a concert) to present on this issue. I don't even want to remember the look on BTS's face at that press because it's just hurtful. That's why I love BTS but I fuckin hate their agency.

Wes and Steph: Just keep in mind that the opinions about the agency expressed in this post are THIS person's opinions...not most ARMY. I think most ARMY believe that BTS works closely with their agency, has a lot of input on everything they do, and that the pressure felt was from external forces beyond the control of everybody within BTS and the agency. For whatever reason, certain people always want to pile on Bang PD, even though the members make it 100% clear that they admire and appreciate him, and that he supports them as much as possible. Sure, he's not perfect...but he's also not evil incarnate. I personally believe that ANY other agency in Korea would have f'd things up so badly for BTS over their years with them, that they wouldn't have LASTED 10 years. It's only because of Bang PD, and his desire to change the idol industry to be more supportive of and positive with the idols that BTS is what they are today. Any other agency would have ignored them, stifled them, turned them into robots, and worse.

Also I appreciate Bang PD and his relationship with BTS. But looking at his and the group's efforts to reduce dependence on BTS in recent years, I want to say well sometimes people's change.

It’s also healthier and less stressful for the members themselves not to feel like they have the well- being of all those employees on their shoulders. There was just an article today in Korea that spoke about BTS coming back with Jin, then hobi, through next year and the other five, and how that should save K-pop - bring the industry out of the doldrums that is has been in for the last year or so. So now it’s the entire industry that depends on them?!

❣️️RM himself said, that Jimin is the most mature out of all the members! RM also said that he has more in common with Jimin then any other member! He also mentioned that Jimin seems to understand him the most since they both are so much alike in so many ways, so introspective, self questioning & doubting or second guessing at times. They are both equally selfless almost to a fault, both always supporting, & putting attention on other members before themselves!! Jimin is the one that supports, respects & admires, advises, & gives RM the incentive & encouragement to go on with certain thing! But RM does the same for Jimin!! They actually now, since they all live alone, even live in the same condo complex. They have always stayed up late night, having deep conversations together! JIMIN also is the one that speaks up, reminding others, praising RM just how much, how hard work RM does continually on behalf of everyone! They both love astronomy, looking up, just gazing at the stars, nature, the outdoors, being near water, or hanging out at the park together, also going on bike rides together! Jimin, also has the ability to bring out the little kid, the, adorable precious little boy in RM, which is always so awesome and a joy to see!! They really have one of my most fav relationships, MiniMoni, because aside from all the support, care, & love they give to each other, their artistry & musical creations are that much better for the advice & support & encouragement they give each other! RM himself in a vlog, discussing the making of MOTS: 7 praised & acknowledged how it was Jimin that loved the song Zero O'Clock so much, and encouraged RM to continue & complete it! They do also have the ability to joke & make fun of each other, because they know each other so well. 👍🙏❤️‍🔥🐨❣️🐥🥰✨💫

It hurts my heart to hear how lost and confused he was.I’m glad he took this opportunity to finally try to figure out who he is.And the other guys seeing him struggle had to be so hard,but I love that they were there for him but still gave him the space and time to figure things out.I just hope he knows now that he doesn’t have to go through everything alone and that he can rely on the other members more and know it’s ok to ask for help if he needs it.

About the enlistment, from my understanding, although it is expected of all artists to fulfill their dutys as a South Korean and go do Military service because of the money BTS has brought to the S.K economy (roughly around 3 billion) it was also expected they'd be exempt. There were debates about this as many felt they should still do military service and without waiting for the government to officially exempt them the members enlisted themselves. This was a huge shock to everyone as most expected them not to go. Their decision made them even more respectable to Koreans as they decided to not take the easy way out and not go. It was a difficult decision to make and their were split options amongst the general public.

they weren't just stressed about the military service coming up, it has been a worry for years, at least since 2018, military service is very important in korea and people look down on you when you don’t do it (or more specifically in most cases you will be arrested if you try to evade), even people doing easier service because of their health are looked down on, bts never said that they want to be exempted but it was up in the air because of their impact and achievements, people who do sports for example participate in olympics or like opera singers etc have sometimes been exempted, and in the case of bts other entertainment companies started using bts to try to gain exemptions for their artists, neither bts or their company were ever involved but they were used as the poster people for it, they got a lot of hate, bts did get a two year extension because of their cultural merit (most members did not even end up using it), and all this went on for years, it started getting even worse when jin's 'due date’ started coming up, and then they finally announced their break and later that they will start enlisting in 2022, we don't know all of their plans but those had to change often and a lot, later we found out that originally they planned to do their huge tour in 2020 (maybe 2021 too) and then enlist but then the pandemic happened, and even with jin he thought he would enlist in summer 2022, members even thought the vegas concert in the spring would be their last concert together, but then the government started the world expo thing and members ended up doing another concert in october and jin enlisted in december instead of the summer, anyways it’s a mess and it has been hell, and i am glad members finally made their own decision, did not wait for the government who kept them in the limbo, and now government won't ever be able to hold something over their heads, i am glad we are seeing the start of the end of this mess now with jin's service ending this month and all members being back and together free to do whatever they want again in a year

❣ I believe that Jimin was the perfect choice, since this was more all about all the inner thoughts, feelings, struggles Namjoon was going through during the time of making this album as well as beforehand as well! Jimin, who has the ability to be empathetic, as well as such a good listener, was the right person to choose. RM has had more deep thought provoking deep discussions with even as Jimin mentioned here, during their rookie yrs. In personal life as was mentioned in one of their MiniMoni vlogs, they are a lot closer, then shown on screen. Jimin made a point of asking all the right questions that army wanted to hear as well as adding his own insightful, perceptive input of so many things RM goes through as leader as well as just in general! Unbeknownst to many they communicate & know each other so well, way more privately then many realize. Aside from most of the members already in the military, so not available back then, I honestly believe RM, anyway, in general, feels most comfortable with Jimin, since he’s always so selfless, empathetic, support for the members in general aside from RM. Many in interviews including RM & JHope have mentioned how they’ve gone to Jimin to share inner feelings with, and to receive advice, saying he’s been most helpful, also saying that he’s really the most mature in many ways! 🙏👍❤‍🔥🐨❣🐥🥰💫✨

The timeline here: mid-June 2022 - FESTA 2022, when they announced Chapter 2 and enlistment plans mid-Dec 2022 - Jin enters military February 2022 - RM starts to work on this album mid-April 2022 - hobi enters military (and RM was originally supposed to enter at the same time) mid-Dec 2022 - RM has completed work on this album (including MVs and everything), and he enters military with the 3 maknae Sp RM actually worked on this album from February through December - 10 months, not 5. RE: how they will be when they get back together...I am becoming of the mind that they will operate more as a music collective - like Balming Tiger is - meaning that they will do group projects, solo projects, unit projects...including albums, singles, collabs/features, producing. I saw a recent interview with Sam Yawn (who worked with RM on this album and is a member of Balming Tiger), and he said that BT hadn't worked on anything as a group for a while because members were busy with solo projects. I sort of see BTS doing something like that - time when the group does music and tours, then time for individual members to do their own thing (could even include Tae acting, RM planning and launching his cafe with his artwork that he mentioned wanting to do someday, etc.). RM said towards the end before entering the military that when they get back together it would be revolutionary - and that's exactly what an idol group becoming a music collective would be.

Honestly, I think this album IS also about a toxic relationship, as well as his relationship with himself and the pressure placed on him. I think it’s all of it together. Showing a mental state of going through a very emotionally chaotic period of life. But, the lyrics are SO obviously about a relationship as well, it’s too honest and raw not to be about it. That’s at least my opinion

I would really recommed that you react to some borazity magazine videos, she does a lot of informative video essays about bts. If you would ever want to react to that type of content I really recommend her videos like "bts vs boybands coming back", "bts and k-pop without the k" and "why (most) armys don't like kpop". We all saw how much joon was suffering last year ,he lost alot of weight and looked so stressed we just wanted him to know how much he helped a lot of people around the world ❤ I actually believe that BTS hiatus was in fact joon's idea because he was so burned out and him holding the most weight in the band they all seemed to agree with him and that's made him feel more guilty and stressed...hope he's happier now ..

Military issue is very sensitive issue in Korea. It’s a mandatory duty, which means u have to go no matter what. Even normal ppl hate to go, so can u imagine them ？ But the main issue here is since they are too big , there is debate whether they can be exempted from military because it will cost them loses economically. Public figure who escape military will faces heavy criticism in Korea. So, since the debate continues for a long time, they also had a hard time, even though they never say they won’t enlist.
