For the ear plug one: it's a similar process to getting full ear mold hearing aids and it can be very uncomfortable because they make them thicker than necessary to make sure there's enough mold to shape with so it could hurt depending on the doctor. and for the tail: as a musician, the tail connects to a lanyard so you don't lose them while performing. Also, it's easier to remove by pulling the end.

yo so, my dad was an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor and when I was a teen i was in a rock n roll band playing loud concerts and stuff at friends parties n shit. so being that my dad had access to all this stuff, he made me get those custom ear plug things. Let me tell you that watching this video unlocked a core memory for me. that stuff FEELS SO FUCKING WEIRD when its squeezed into your ear. its kinda cold and goopy, but from what i remember it becomes a sort of silicone-y, plasticy foam like substance. Then they use that to make a mold and make ear plugs that fit perfectly into your ears. The ones this guy is probably getting are going to have like little tubes in them to let through some pur sound iirc. I think mine had little plastic air tubes, though that might just be to combat making a perfect seal and not getting them out LOL
