I love the two Digital Devil Saga games, I hope the rumored mystery PS2 remaster will be DDS. Persona you summon beings from your psyche that look like demons, in SMT you control/summon actual demons, and in DDS you are the demon.

What a stream, and yes. The series is pretty confusing. The Raidou games are some of my favorites in the SMT Franchise, they take place during 1920-30s Japan so it’s a very unique and amazing experience to see Japan’s old culture Also the art throughout the SMT Franchise is some of the best works of art ever in my opinion. Kazuma Kaneko is the original artist behind some of the mainline games, almost every single demon design was created by him. Can’t wait to see more mainline love soon 😊🙏✨🎊

It's really hard to get into the smt series because most of the games are either stuck on old hardware or weren't ever localized

I mean the ones stuck on old hardware are generally also the ones that were never localized. The bigger problem is those are also generally the most fundamental to understanding the context of everything that came after.

Just wanted to give my 2 cents: SMT is an interesting series; it’s much more focused on the ideals of “what would YOU want for the future of the world after it’s destroyed and needs to be reborn?” Order (god and angels establishing eternal peace at the cost of free will usually) or Chaos (unlimited freedom that usually results in endless conflict). There’s almost always a neutral route as well that requires more work to unlock that usually gives a more complete ending “humanity will decide for itself”-type deal. I’d personally say you should try SMT 3,4,4 apocalypse, and/or 5 vengeance. Last note: vengeance seems to have two routes that vary GREATLY, the original story of the original smt5 and a NEW story using the smt5 world and characters; this route split SEEMS like it takes place at the beginning of the game when there’s a hand (shown in the trailer) and you choose to take it or not.

Oh interesting, I would definitely like to play the original story first, and potentially replay for the other story, so i will be sure to look up how to make sure I get the appropriate story, thanks for the heads up!

@@GilbettaGaming Sadly, older titles don’t have any other way of playing it. SMT sort of suffers from accessibility. SMT 3 Remaster and SMT V are the only ones that are multi-platform. The only way to access the Mainline SMT SNES Era games is through emulation or use the Japanese Nintendo Switch Online SNES Service

SMT if... gave you choice of a male or female main character. You could encounter the female main character early in Persona 1 and she is a story character in Persona 2 Eternal Punishment.

Finally caught up through this. Only reason I wasn’t here on stream is because I was busy crying like a babey to the ending of 3R LOL. That being said, bit of a tip, both for SMT in general and if you wanna play 5. A: SMT is VERY hard. Imagine Persona combat but on steroids. It isn’t a question of Deathless in an SMT game, no you WILL die in those games even if it’s just because of something you had no hope of preparing for or countering. Even the first real boss of SMT3 Nocturne is infamous for taking new players hours to beat. The first out of like 30+ including optional ones. B: If you ever wanna play SMTV, I recommend Nocturne first as its true ending is one of two endings in it that are canon to the events of SMTV and it’ll ease ya in, in a way. BONUS C: Raidou Kuzinoha games are sadly more critically panned. People like myself tend to agree it has the music and style… but you’ll rarely if ever hear someone who found the gameplay even remotely enjoyable. I don’t say this to discourage you, but actually to warn what you’re getting into considering SMT already what I said about difficulty in these games. BONUS BONUS D: The ports of P5R have all the DLC that the PS4 version has, except for one - the Raidou Kuzinoha DLC. This is because of the ports being based off the Chinese and Korean versions, and having the censorship of. This goes further, with stuff like the removal of Rising Sun imagery and strange graphical changes. Mods can restore almost all this, but in order to get working Raidou costumes again it can be a bit finicky. This is also why in spite of 1080p30FPS gameplay, I still play on the PS4 version.

i am not emotionally prepared for the ending of P3R. Also I did like the look of Nocturne, and it seemed one of the easier ones to be able to play (not how hard the game is but actually getting a copy of the game and physically being able to play it) and it did look interesting.

@@GilbettaGaming Yes! nocturne is everywhere thanks to the remaster! There is some slight issues people have with it but nothing mods haven't fixed. Just buy the Dante from Devil May Cry DLC and your good. (Yes, this game has Dante from the Devil May Cry Series in it, and yes the sticker meme from a few years back originates from the OG release on PS2)

@@rezahydra SMT is not hard. You just pay attention to what you are doing and know what to do. It's just matter learning what to do. I would say it's Persona who very easy (after P4G).

@@pmintertek Ah yes, totally not hard when Mot softlocks me with Dragon Eye forcing a reset or Trumpeter just decides “know what, fuck you in particular” and kills me instantly well before I have a chance to kill him. I would agree with the sentiment but that’s in SPITE of the difficulty SMT has, not because it isn’t.

You can still emulate the 3DS, despite what people may think. You just have to find the files somewhere, it's the internet, nothing's really deleted. Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey & IV are my favorites, if I don't count the very first one due to nostalgia. Edit: I do love your way of reacting to things, you actually research what you're looking at and learn more about it instead of going "idk wtf is going on" like many reactors do. Keep it up.

I did manage to find a way to play Devil Summoner, but life sort of got in the way and I haven't had a chance to stream it yet! P.S. Thank you for the kind words, I love researching things but try to also avoid major spoilers and it's a hard balance to strike sometimes.

I wish they can but since SMT in general aren't sold out enough more outside Japan than his brethren Persona and ATLUS game is very stingy to be ported. SMT 1+2 get ported to switch but no English translation and same goes to SMT If... & Persona 2: Eternal Punishment PSP REMAKE (Gladly Fan-Translation already out now so you can emulate PSP Persona 2 Duology without waiting), Devil Summoners: Soul Hackers is the first time Devil Summoners was ported outside Japan after stuck in PS1 & Sega Saturn for so long.

3 hours? Oh man. Just wait until you find out how Persona came to be... SMT 1 - skip to Devil Summoner 1 Raidou. Basically Raidou from the SMT1 timeline goes back in time and tries to stop the great catcylsm. But he's defeated by Raidou who defeats the paradox, souless army. - So now Devil Summoner 2 Raidou vs. King Abaddon --> The Neutral ending leads to SMT 1 partially happening, however the apocalypse doesn't happen and in Devil Summoner it is revealed the antagonists of SMT 1 Thormann and i forgor the other dudes name. Pass away from "natural causes" but its probably a cover up, just like the demon deaths being covered up as serial killer activities. Then this leads to SMT IF as a character in the game says he noticed the SMT 1 protagonist with his Husky dog using the Devil Summoning machine. He thought it was cool and made one, (but it's revealed Stephen who created the summoning program is also in this new timeline and talks to the SMT IF Protagonist) Now its a little confusing, but the female protagonist is the one who goes into Persona 1 as a side character.. while the male smt if protagonist goes into a future called SMT Kain.. Now the female protagonist of SMT IF tells the Persona 1 cast about her experiences, and then the Persona 1 cast eventually split, and Nanjo from the cast, is in Persona 2 and basically the timeline of Innocent Sin Persona 2 is ended.. but the Persona 2 Eternal Punishment is an alternative timeline that leads to a major villain being revealed who is the king of all shadows.. keep that in mind. As shadows become a bigger deal. And also the creation of artificial persona users.. then in Persona 3 the family group of Mitsuru was part of the Nanjo family for a bit but they split and tested on strega or artificial persona users who would mostly die and be taken over by their shadows... Then Persona 4 and 5 and so on and so on.. thanks for reading. Im a big fan.

You're dissing the original SMT V trailer, but when I first saw it I loved it. I still love it tbh, seeing all the demons together will always be cool. Also, don't worry about the chronology of the series, it's not necessary and a newcomer doesn't need to care about any of that. I think that should be saved for when you've played a game or two and have some context.

@@DragonKingX78 I don't think that fitting in Mainline. Plus heroine protagonist is not a lot in megaten game. The only heroine you'll get is in Soul Hackers 2, Maken X, Digital Devil Saga 2 & Persona 3 Portable FEMC.
