The U.S.'s latest submarine has a near undetectable sound output. The Navy said they surprised themselves with how quiet they were. Sound transmission through water is one of the main reasons the United States submarine fleet is nuclear powered, for low nose stealth operation. Diesel subs are like banging on a steel trashcan with a cricket bat and nuclear subs are like gently tapping cotton balls with a feather. The latest outer shell reduces sonar reflection and sound transmission even further.

Diesel-electric and Air Independent Propulsion subs can actually be quieter than nuclear subs. These non-nuclear subs can essentially shut down all of their noisy equipment and lurk silently in waiting. If such subs are built with the same kind of sound isolating and absorbing technology as current nuclear subs are, then they are extremely quiet. If you want a sub to be an almost static defense of a fixed target or location, then state of the art non-nuclear subs are very capable and extremely dangerous. Some nuclear subs can do something similar if they are just creeping along; but if they want to mover faster, then they have to run large pumps in their nuclear plants, which means they will make more noise than do the best non-nuclear subs.

In India we spend less then 2% of our GDP every year on our military. But that 2% is over $75 billion Dollars. Which makes it the 3rd largest military spending. So we literally are spending less than many countries but the size of our economy makes it look big. Also, as additional information, we need this budget beca we unfortunately got two nations threatening our borders everyday (Pakistan & China). We would be glad to spend on our people instead of military if we ever had the option. Per capita GDP is low but then you will also have to note down the size of population and extent of support to people. Well, we will increase our per capita too.

I'm not even going to watch the video. Without seeing it, I will say, there's a few different ways to categorize fleet strength of Navie's and any class of ship within those Navie's. You can simply count the number of hulls they have in service. That will give you one figure. But what about capability? If country A has 200 highly advanced capable subs, and country B has 400 lessor quality subs, which one has more strength? China has a larger Navy than the US based on ship hulls in service. But if you look at overall combat missile capacity, the US leads. Plus, a lot of those in service hulls that would be counted for the PLAN are only close in shore vessels. They don't have any blue water capability. So, comparisons can be tricky. You need to make sure what you are looking at, what you are comparing.

India spends a bit over 2.4 percent of its GDP on Defense...which is definitely not that high. The USA is at about 3.5 percent of GDP, Poland is at 3.8 percent, and the UK is at about 2.3 percent...Russia is at 5.9 percent as of 2023.

Yeah 1 min in and already the numbers are wrong, the NL's has 4 not 3 and stating electro-diesel subs are inferior to nuclear powered subs is reductive to say the least; several times have Dutch, Swedish, Australian and German electro-diesel subs sunk many US vessels, ships, frigattes, destroyers, cruisers and yes even aircraft carriers. All in friendly naval exercises of course, but still.

I was a SONAR tech in the Navy. My job was finding submarines. Disney and the 6th largest sub fleet with 6 per park. Just a fun fact.

With the US and Russia - the number of Ballistic missile subs is limited by treaty.

It is known that Israel has nuclear weapons, but they do not officially confirm this. In the 20+ years before World War One, when everyone was building the new steel battleships, British shipyards constructed many of them for other countries. India has a large army, but their military budget is only $70-80 billion, the same amount as or a bit more than the UK.
