I think the meaning behind FKA twigs’s dress is about the fear and censorship of maybe nude art or even people. And by putting nakedness of this dress front and center, it could show how the body is not sexualized, it is simply beautiful as a form.

Luke, I usually agree with you and see your pov, but the 2015 Beyonce dress was a piece of art. Between the jewels, netting, bodysuit, the cut, the flow and the fit Beyonce looked gorgeous. The dress framed her body spectacularly, any woman would want to look that good. She was a jewel that night. A great dress is also about how much it elevates and showcases the woman wearing it. That dress did it's job perfectly.

One of my favorite books is on Marie Antoinette and how her choices in fashion can be seen through a political lens (Queen of Fashion: What Marie Antoinette Wore to the Revolution by Caroline Weber) . Fashion has always been political and always will be. I'm so glad you mentioned that! I love fashion particularly historical fashion and I think it has do much to say about the times when a garment was made . Fashion speaks volumes it's not just a pretty gown .
