The actor who played the one-armed man is Andreas Katsulas, who had dozens of TV and movie roles, but reached S-Tier with his role of G’Kar on “Babylon 5.”

He was also the Romulan Commander Tomalak in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He only had 4 appearances as this character, but each one was memorable.

Andreas was said to be fully immersed in his role on the studio set of Babylon 5. It was known if you needed to talk to Andreas about anything you had to get to him before they put on his G'Kar make-up. Once he was in make-up, you would only be talking to G'Kar.

If you think “Firefly” was good but too short, you'll love “Babylon 5”. It's better written and runs 110 episodes with a total run time of about 80 hours and 20 minutes. Plus 3 movies that fill in back story information.

No one is going to call the police about hairs in the sink. "911, what's your emergency" "There's some hair in a patients sink. Send police, firefighters, a swat team, the bomb squad". Somebody sees that in the hospital, sure they're going to wonder about it, but figure it could be a doctor, intern, a nurse, didn't take time to shave that morning so did it there, or maybe even someone shaved a patient and dumped it in the sink rather than cleaning it up. Most likely it would be found by janitors who will just clean it up and move on to the next room. No one is going to think it's a crime.

Dawn the parade scene in Chicago was during St.Patrick’s Day Parade. They asked Chicago to do a parade scene and said that would be too many blocks being blocked off and said no. So they waited for the St.Patrick’s Day and filmed for it for free and got away with it. Every year of St.Patrick’s Day in Chicago they color it green. It is safe for the water and fishes. I used to live in Chicago area

I love the realism of the 90s movies, because they were filmed in a real way (the train scene is real, it has no CGI, no miniatures, it's 100% real), or else they used practical effects that were much better and more realistic than the current CGI.

aaah.... actually..... in the creation of the train wreck scene, there was the use of train models, computerization, and actual train footage. if you watch it over and over, you will see the differences and see how the different medias were edited together.

Tommy Lee Jones was so good in this, they wrote a whole other movie just so he could play the same character - "US Marshals". He also has a very different role but a (sort of) similar plot in "The Hunted"

Good film! Also enjoyed the original Television series as a kid. David Janson played Kimbel. It went 5 seasons, I think. It was the first series with an actual ending that I seen back then. That was rare for shows at that time. Had to wait 5 years for Kimbel to catch up to the one armed man.

I only really learned of the premise from an episode of "The Gary Shandling Show" where the guy who played Dr Kimbel appeared. I think that was around 1988 or so.

I know! some of the simplest jokes and things zip right over her head, she will be asking, "What happened there? Why did they do that?", even though it was explained just moments before, yet no matter how convoluted, complicated and twisted the main plot goes, she will be spelling it out in the first 15 minutes of the movie. She is hilarious and I love her reactions.

There's a sequel called "U.S. Marshals". Ford wasn't in it. Just Tommy Lee Jones, Wesley Snipes, and Robert Downey Jr. They filmed part of it at Reelfoot Lake, in Tennessee, 30 miles north of my home town. They were filming in the swamp. They rented a lake-side cabin for TLJ and the owner's bass boat. Every morning, when he got ready to start filming, he got in the boat and drove it a few miles, to where they were shooting , that day. They rented a mansion, that was being renovated, in my home town, for Snipes and Robert Downey. They hired a body guard to keep an eye on Robert Downey Jr. Not to protect him, he was into drugs at the time, and they wanted to be sure he couldn't hook up with a dealer.

The reporter at the start is John "Bulldog" Drummond, he was a local Chicago reporter for over 40 years. In the later news conference he is joined by Pam Zekman, Jay Levine and a much younger Lester Holt (now the national anchor at NBC) all got their starts reporting news in Chicago. Tommy Lee earning his Oscar!

yeah, as a child I was so blessed to have seen the tv series this movie was made from. each week David Jansen would go to a different city looking for a man with one arm and avoid the police.

I highly recommend the sequel to this film, U.S. Marshals. Tommy Lee Jones(the Men In Black guy) reprises his role of Deputy United States Marshal with Wesley Snipes and Robert Downey, Jr. joining the cast. Tommy Lee Jones also won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Fugitive.

One of my favorite Harrison Ford movies ever made! Nominated for 6 Oscars including Best Picture but won for Best Supporting Actor Tommy Lee Jones. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alec Baldwin, Mel Gibson, Richard Gere, Charlie Sheen, Richard Dreyfuss, Michael Douglas, and Tom Cruise were considered for Richard Kimble. Jon Voight and Gene Hackman were considered for US Marshall Sam Gerrard.

They filmed the St. Patrick's Day parade scene during the actual parade in Chicago. I always enjoy seeing the people in the parade smiling because Harrison Ford is in their parade.

Since 1966, the city of Chicago has been using a vegetable-based dye. The Chicago Plumbers Union still pays to dye the river and safeguards their 60-year-old secret recipe, which is a low-impact orange powder. The powder is spread by two motorboats (one for dumping, one for stirring the water). It takes a crew of six (featuring relatives of the first families to dye the river, the Rowans and the Butlers), about 40 pounds of powder and two hours to turn the Chicago River an emerald green for four to five hours. Although it takes a couple of days for the green to completely disappear.

Based on the old TV show in the '60s starring David Jansen, which was based on a real life murder mystery of the accused Dr. Sam Sheppard near Cleveland, OH in 1954. The old TV show used to get me worked up as Jansen was always acting guilty, and this movie worked me up also! Favorite line (and there were some good ones) , " ...I want a hard target search of every Gas Station, Residence, Warehouse, Farmhouse, Henhouse, Outhouse and Doghouse in that area!" The US Marshall Service tracks down fugitives, and they never give up - they don't conduct investigations to exonerate the falsely accused. This was a very realistic movie, and Tommy Lee Jones earned his Oscar for that performance.

The other day I saw a interview with Harrison Ford on stage with many actors & directors in the audience . And as soon as he walked onto the stage , the Indiana Jones theme song goes on. He says " I'm so sick of that song !! The other day I went to have my colonoscopy done . And as soon as I walked in the song turned on !!! ". He was kidding of course 🤣🤣

This is a movie based on a TV show that was based on real events. The true case is working into if you have any interest in true crime. The police made a lot of mistakes. One of which was fining a cigarette butt in the toilet despite the fact that no one in the house smoked. It proved that a third person was in the house, but the police flushed the toilet, so that was gone.

This movie was based on a tv series from the 1960s which was in turn based on a famous murder trial from 1954. Dr Sam Shepard, a neurosurgeon, was accused of murdering his wife, killing her with a blunt object. He was initially found guilty but later acquitted.

Harrison Ford's(80 years old) first acting role was when he was 14. He played Wally's friend Chester on the TV show Leave it to Beaver. He didn't pursue acting roles very much after that. He became a carpenter then returned to acting in his late 20's.

There was an absolutely bizarre story from my home state of Tennessee. There was a local postman who could have been the identical twin of a man who committed multiple sexual assaults. The postman was arrested, convicted, and went to prison for several years until the real criminal committed sexual assault again. All of this happened before DNA was used in investigations. That is truly a nightmare story.

​@@michaelw8262identical twins still have unique DNA that differentiates them. While their DNA is remarkably similar it has just enough uniqueness to tell the difference between twins. Besides that, through most if the use of DNA as evidence the results still had large enough margin for error to not he exact. Even today, DNA evidence can be thrown out of court as prisoners that have spent years or decades locked up proved that the DNA evidence and testing results weren't accurate.

From 1963 to 1967, there was a TV series called THE FUGITIVE, starring David Janssen as Dr Richard Kimball, in search of the one-armed man who had murdered his wife. My sister and i watched it religiously.

You don't need fake eyebrows or fake facial hair and a fake accent is usually so easy to spot that it makes you more memorable when you want to be less memorable. Trust me, I know. I have severe social anxiety and these are the kinds of things that I think about when I'm out in the world, always thinking about how to go un-noticed and planning escape routes lol. He did it right, pretending to be a janitor, especially in a hospital where people are used to seeing you with greying hair and a full beard; looking like a dark-haired clean-shaven "servant" type worker lets you get in the places you need and makes people not want to remember you because people you don't interact with regularly are easily forgettable, that was why Juliann Moore remembered him and went looking for him and the kid because she happened to look up and saw what was supposed to be a janitor looking at the x-rays, that was memorable to her for being unusual. His main mistake in trying to stay hidden, he responded to his own name, it's instinct and hard to resist lol. If you're hiding, and trying not to be noticed, but you get noticed yet manage to escape, you change your look again. Most quick hair dyes that you can get at stores are temp and wash out easily. It's assumed that he was retried with all the new evidence and testimony from the US Marshals that brought him in. There is a sequel, but it is a different story with a different name. It's just called US Marshals and is a sort of rehash of this one but with a twist.

In the original 1963 TV series that this film is based on, Dr. Kimball ends up travelling around the country trying to find the one armed man, and dodging the police, meanwhile getting into scrapes, and helping people along the way. The makers of the late 1970's "The Incredible Hulk" live action TV series took inspiration from the Fugitive by having Dr. David Banner, in their show, moving from one city to another trying to reverse his Hulk mutation, meanwhile dodging an investigative journalist whose tracking all the Hulk sightings. That was a great show too, btw.

I just love the afterstory you came up with at the end 😆 In reality, he likely would have been taken back to jail (He is still a convicted fugitive, after all) and would receive a hearing where the verdict would be reversed or a new trial where he would be found not guilty. High profile murder trials take a long time, so he likely spent a year or more in jail awaiting his first trial. If the prosecutor decides to charge him for any crimes committed while he was on the run, he would probably be sentenced to "time served", so no additional prison time, but it's likely that no other charges would be brought. I like to think that he gets his position back at the hospital, and, eventually, he and the doctor played by Jane Lynch become a couple. The train crash was real. The director thought that using models or special effects wouldn't look real enough, so they actually put a bus on the tracks and run a train into it. (Harrison Ford jumping was added later) They filmed it from every angle because, of course, they could only do one take. I love that you're as big a Harrison Ford fan as I am. I think you've reacted to most of the big blockbuster movies he's been in (Did you do Air Force One? I don't recall) so you should do some of the lesser known movies. My favorite from that category is The Mosquito Coast. I also don't remember if you've done any comedies so... Sabrina, Working Girl, Hollywood Homicide, and Six Days, Seven Nights are all good.

This is a good adaptation of a TV show that ran for several years. They managed to hit all the right points even up to Dr Kimble stopping at his own expense to save someone's life which happened in almost every episode. And yes Dr Kimball is cleared of all his crimes and goes on to live a happy life. The TV show said so. 23:19 it's an annual Chicago tradition. The green dye was used to find leaks in pipes. Then in 1962 the plumber's union decided to dye the Chicago River. At that point in time the river was so polluted there weren't any significant amount of fish in there. And the dye is non-toxic so outside of the color it's not going to hurt the fish. Fun fact a lot of the reporters with speaking roles are actually Chicago reporters doing cameos.

For what it's worth, this movie received a number of Oscar nominations with Tommy Lee receiving Best Actor in a Supporting Role. It's one of my top 25 movies of all time. Nothing beats a good murder mystery mixed with a two hour chase scene.

The real life murder mystery this was based on is just as compelling; Dr. Sam Sheppard was accused of killing his pregnant wife on 04 July, 1954 and found guilty of 2nd degree murder and sentenced to Life on 21 Dec. in the midst of a media circus from day one. 12 years later F. Lee Bailey represented him at retrial, securing his freedom and propelled to fame as a criminal defense attorney. The murder remains 'unsolved'.

The train wreck scene was filmed on The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in NC. The wrecked cars are still there and visible when riding the train out of Dillsboro, NC. The dam is Cheoah Dam in Graham County, NC.

In the original TV show, someone would find out who he was near the end of every episode, so he would have to move on. I think he would use his medical knowledge and move on. In the news today they were looking for 3 armed robbers. They would be a lot easier to find - just check all the tailors' shops.

It's a tradition for Chicago to dye the Chicago River green for St. Patrick's Day. They use a vegetable dye, so the fish are fine.

Loved the reaction! Yes, Harrison Ford is 80. If you want to see a great movie with him, watch Blade Runner. He plays a cop in the future. I would recommend the theatrical version or the international version. It's amazing. On to the next one!

What a lot of people don’t realize is that even though he is innocent of killing his wife he would still be charged, convicted, and sentenced for escaping. However the right type of judge would commute the sentence due to the circumstances. Edit: I sort of spoke too soon!

29:45 "Wait. How long has this been going on?" They don't show an exact timeline. It seems Dr. Kimble was running after he escaped for only a few days but might have been a few weeks, hard to say. The trial didn't take long. Probably only a few days at most. Tons of evidence including his wife telling 911 "Richard. He's trying to kill me." But he was probably in jail for 1-2 years after his arrest waiting for his trial. The U.S. court systems are fairly overbooked so you have to wait a while for the trial.

They did the train crash scene by actually crashing a train. They had to get it in only one take, because it would have been too expensive to crash two trains. Today it would be done with CGI. Julianne Moore originally had a bigger role where her character and Dr. Kimble got together and fell for each other. They cut that part from the movie, probably because of time.

The one Reporter, older lady. She’s retired now but used to be a real life NBC Reporter. The City of Chicago Illinois throws a huge St. Patrick’s Day Parade. They also Dye the Chicago River green for the Parade every Year. Check it out next year

Because few would know to share this: The woman reporter they featured during the press moments was Pam Zekmanan, a real life Chicago reporter of that era. Pam was one of the most well known, well respected and no nonsense investigative reporters in the business. It was very rare to put real news people in movies back when this was made, and they picked one with the best of reputations for this movie. Next Movie up: *'U.S. Marshalls'* - Tommy Lee Jones and his team were so beloved from this movie, they got their own movie from this. It's a non-sequel sequel. It has nothing to do with this story, but the U.S. Marshalls team is 100% the same. It's equally as good and a favorite. Watch it soon, before this one wears off too much. You're gonna love it! Tommy Lee Jones is a national treasure.

The first and only movie that I know of that Harrison Ford actually filmed in his hometown and mine..... Chicago!! I actually 'met' Tommy Lee Jones walking down Michigan Ave in the summer of 1997 or 98. He was actually wearing a suit and sunglasses. As I walked by, I said, "Hello Mr. Jones." He smiled, and nodded his head as we both kept walking.

The Fugitive was based on an American TV show by the same name. It was an early 1960s series starring David Jansen as Dr. Kimble. I really liked the TV series because it dives much deeper into the story. I think it works better as a series than a movie.

I love craggy old Tommy Lee Jones. He's just so cool in this - one of his best roles (if not THE best). You can see Deputy Gerard throughout the film getting closer to realising Dr Kimble is honest and innocent from the first encounter in the storm drain where he spares his life to the point near the end where Gerard stops his colleague from shooting him in the lift. I think he overshadows Harrison Ford in this, but Ford still plays his own role of the haunted but determined fugitive excellently. This was a great film, one of the best of the 1990s IMO, and in my personal top 20. The pacing is brilliant - constantly moving with twists and turns. I love that you picked up on all the great little details that makes this film so good, like the moment Gerard calls "Richard!" to make Kimble instinctively look around, the phone call where Kimble reminds Gerard of what happened in the tunnel to prove he's the real one, the twist with Dr Nichols, and also the funny little lines and touches in the midst of the serious plot. As you said, the viewer is rooting for both Gerard and Kimble, and the film balances following both and gradually bringing them together in the same goal perfectly. Another great reaction! 😎👍

Exciting reaction! I've never trusted one-armed men since seeing this film. 28:15 "I've seen a lot of Chicago movies." Please, Dawn, consider watching 'The Blues Brothers'. It is a very hilarious comedy set in Chicago about two very low level criminals and musicians who have to raise money (in a very short time) to stop the orphanage they grew up in from being closed down. Whilst they have 100s of cops chasing them and other people who want to kill them. It is a musical comedy and the songs in it are just absolutely fantastic, you will be singing them for years. Main stars are John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd. And the film features several of superstar singers who cameo for one song each. Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Ray Charles with Chaka Khan, John Lee Hooker, etc. You will absolutely love it - guaranteed best movie ever. ♥ 🕶 🕶

Several actors with speaking roles in this film were actual former Chicago Police department officers. There is a bit of a trend in former Chicago PD officers taking up acting. Most notably and prolifically Dennis Farina who played Avi in SNATCH.

There is a follow up to this film although not based around Dr Kimble. It is called U.S Marshalls and has Tommy Lee Jones and his crew chasing down another escapee. Also has Robert Downey Jr in it.

Im sure Harrison Ford is pretty rich, but It's well known Harrison Ford lore that when he started out he worked as a carpenter, and he was always pretty smart about not just being desperate and jumping at any acting job he could get. He has been in so many movies for decades, but he seems pretty content to just not care and do his own thing when he's not working. At some point he became a pilot, and flying planes became his hobby. It's even been in the news a couple or more times when he's crashed a plane. Supposedly he has a place Jackson Hole, Wyoming where he lives when he's not working, and he's collected his own fleet of airplanes, and then I guess when that got boring, he took up learning to fly helicopters. He's definitely made enough money in this business though.
