Good video Kie, the long awaited for White Paper seems to assume that everyone betting is from the UK, and betting with UK based companies. Betfair has been based in Ireland for years, so I'm pretty sure there'd be some big GDPR problems with a company outside the EU asking for EU users data, with no protection on that data.

Subscribed. This was an extremely well done video! I'm currently battling Betfair because they mistakenly restricted my account and this gambling white paper aims to "protect" the minority of losers while punishing the majority of winners. There are more profitable gamblers than forex traders and crypto traders and I love both but facts are facts.

Well presented Kie, I still feel the number of problem gamblers out there is higher than that claimed by the commisson, clearly they are presenting figures based on problem gamblers that have actually made active steps by seeking treatment for their addiction, however as a recovering gambler myself I know only to well there is still a vast amount of indivduals out there struggling on a daily basis, these people tick all the boxes for a problem gambler but as they haven't yet entered the system shall we say they fail to show up under the commissions statistics. I am not sure what the future holds for the UK in regards to gambling but if they are not careful UK putters will seek sites offshore without such restrictions.

Surely this wont affect Betfair for example who makes nice premium charges from winning accounts? They wouldn't have the same incentive to ban winning accounts as this whitepaper suggests other traditional forms of bookmakers will or am I missing something?

You're correct in that exchanges don't have the incentives to ban winning customers. The sad thing is about premium charges is that they effectively make the exchange have worse value odds than even the poorest value bookmakers.

if you have a problem with betfair just open an account with an Asian broker and you will be fine

Ive now recovered from my gambling past and my second point is now I focus on matched betting and even more now trading you put big bets on but your whole stake is not at risk but you will find it harder to put those on because you have deposit limits its very frustrating Am I right in thinking if you deposit £1000 say and you keep fluctuating between £300 and £1000 for example will that be ok is it just new deposits that give you net loss

Its very interesting for me coming from a bad gambling problem I would get money from wherever I could to gambe problem with limits or excluding yourselve from 1 bookmaker you just move on to another one - limits will not make any difference to a gambler you just make sure you have as many accounts open as you can or you will just travel to different town bookmakers

@@KieMillett I think its the help that is needed to recover e.t.c what needs to be done is for the industry to plough money into to support networks e.t.c to help gamblers I was going to go on a recovery course but I didnt do it as not free it was very expensive to do - im talking about 15 years ago I self excluded from a bookmaker to make parents happy but it made it worst us I would then travel further away to get a bet on and stay out and they would not know where I was the core problem is not money it goes deeper than that its a weird addiction as one that can be hidden easily unlike drink, drugs, smoking e.t.c and on a whole you carry on your life and no one knows about your gambling apart from a few people

Wellllllll..... You're sort of right on slotting BUT there is value to be found just like with matched betting. You have to take advantage of free spins/bonuses/cash casinos give to outweigh the rtp. Just like how matched betting typically wouldn't work without exchanges

Very hard to believe that only 19% of bettors loose 200 or more pounds a year...I've always heard that only about 5% of bettors make money and only 1% are professional. Maybe that study can be true if they also consider people who only make a few or several bets per year.

The research was commissioned by GambleAware, and the data seems far more reliable to me than the often quoted 5% value, which is usually stated without any evidence of its validity.

​@@KieMillett I understand your point of view of believing on a supposedly independent charity study, but still to me "its hard to believe", there's juice or commission to be paid on every winning bet and the vast majority of people don't even understand that or check if that value is fair prior to betting. Most people bet to hit the right result and not because the odd is valuable. Also of course the bookmakers have to make good money because they have to pay taxes. Bet365 ceo is the richest women on UK...

Because the banks are so responsible! Lol. the problem with this country now is no sense of personal responsibility. Borrow too much on a credit card - not my fault the credit card company made me do it. If I want to gamble and have the means then it is nobody else's business but my own. I'm fed up with the increasingly invasive laws that keep getting passed in this country. Pretty soon we will be like China!

You are so unbelievably out of touch. I spent 25 years in a betting shop and casino enviroment often 6 days a week. Problem gambling very much underestimated. I witnessed literally thousands of chronically addicted and obsessed and degenerate gamblers whose lives were out of control and degenerate. Families and friends of these were always affected. Many cases end in very very dire circumstances. Very much a hidden and under reported.
