I think Lauren in the last few episodes comes off as very cold, but I think she is so so guarded at this point. This whole franchise was centered around her, and all these ppl were profiting from it, and then those people start treating her poorly. Can’t blame her for putting her guard up. I think I can put together what was really happening here based off Audrina’s book and Lauren’s “fictional” books based off the Hills. Audrina said that her and Lauren had a lot of friction off camera that they couldn’t discuss on camera because they had the same agent and publicist, and that Audrina was getting a lot of offers and deals that their agent was passing onto Lauren instead. In the L.A. Candy series, the character Gaby, who is clearly based on Audrina, gets a new agent who tells her what to do and becomes an overall bad influence on her. “Gaby” changes her entire look, gets a boob job, her lips done, she becomes extremely thin, and starts dressing different, and starts behaving differently and doing things for the sake of the show and for her own position on it. Her agent even works with the producers of the show to find ways to raise her notoriety on it. I’m confident that at this moment this was the place that Audrina was in: her boobs had been done, you can see that her lips were done as well, especially in the scene where she meets up with Justin Bobby, even though she has always been thin you can tell in these episodes she is pretty bony, and you can notice in this episode and prior episodes her style is definitely more risqué and sexy versus her usual cute, casual and relaxed, semi edgy style. Even in the scene at Winston’s where she gets into a blowout fight with Lauren, she is guided into the bar by an older woman. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was her agent. I can see why Lauren was upset. And I understand why Audrina initially made the moves she did, but in that she fell prey to this agent who put her in the wrong direction, and Lauren basically lost her friend to the industry for the sake of fame and money. I would be heartbroken and probably finished with this friendship as well if I were Lauren.

Good question. I’m going to answer my guess since I’ve watched this series 3 times (& the city) Whit does say in Jay’s ep (next) “that it all happened very easily and naturally.” Also once she posed the question to Timmy that she wonders if Jay was cast by Spike; so it sounds like she doesn’t know for sure if they did have any involvement in their meeting/courtship.

I feel like for whatever reason, Timmy always mininterprets Lauren’s intentions. In this episode he thinks she is telling Audrina ‘I’m not your best friend’ even though she has valued the friendship all along and tells her that she should learn that there are people who have her best interests, I.e Lauren herself. Then in the earlier seasons he was convinced Lauren didn’t care about her friendship with Heidi. I didn’t get those vibes at all, it is clear she was really hurt and disappointed by Heidi’s actions. I am confused at how these things can be interpreted so differently by Timmy, they seem so obvious to me...

The other reason Lauren was so upset was because the cast knew that Audrina was with Corey, but her "on again/off again relationship" with Justin continued to be a fake storyline that Audrina played up on. She heard a rumour, she knew it was fake and yet she couldn't drop it, when Lauren is upset in the bar and tells Audrina that she's worse than Heidi, it was breaking the fourth wall: this was a reference to behind the scenes things.
