The fact that aside from Whitney, Frankie and Stephanie, Lauren doesn’t really speak to anyone from The Hills but is still super tight with her Laguna friends like Stephen, Dieter, Trey, Talan, Lo and even Christina and Morgan is quite telling. Watching back now it’s sad to see she had such a hard time distinguishing who really wanted to be her friend and who was just using her for the show but she did a great job navigating it and seeing through the bs. The fact that Whit & Lauren weren’t as close as I thought they were back then watching it as a teenager but still to this day only have loving and respectful things to say about each other makes my heart happy 🤍

Now as an adult I understand why Lauren became hardened. She got her first taste of a fake relationship w/ Jason who used her for fame in Laguna Beach then in The Hills. I cannot diagnose anyone however, his behavior is textbook narcissism. To that end, one thing people with narcissistic personality disorder can't stand are people who reflect the person they could never be. Lauren being the star of not one, but two shows, made him target her. She not only had fame and fortune, she had control and power. The last two are what narcissists are hungry for the most. Also, he had chosen Heidi as the person he wanted to manipulate and he needed to isolate her in order to really do that, and Lauren was in the way of that at first. Lauren was well received, doted on, and loved by many, He was jealous of everything Lauren was.
