Bettman approved of the 3 games because they are all Oiler home games. Would have been less if the Oilers were on the road in NYC or Boston or Chicago. Bettman has no respect for Canadian city fans. He doesn't care if some kid's parents paid $300 bucks to take their kid to a game in Edmonton or another Canadian city and didn't get to see McDavid play because the league wanted to make an example of McDavid.

You guys are forgetting one relationship! If the refs had called a penalty on Garland and stopped the play the cross check never would have happened!!! If refs were held more accountable this incident never would have happened as a result!!!

⁠@Roof_Pizzathe point is that there was never going to be a call. Neither ref had their arm up. They literally had no intention of calling a penalty where they absolutely should have been one

When you get tangled up and a player holds down the other guy, it should be interference, they kinda overlook those, if you impede a players movement for longer than a couple of seconds it should be a penalty.

At the end of the day the issue boils down to game management being the main focus for NHL Referees. The League and Refs should be doing nothing to prioritize anything around their elite super star players as every player in the league should be playing under the same rule book and enjoying the same protections as stated in the aforementioned rule book. The League and Refs should have game management abolished and teams should be held accountable for their actions on the ice. If 1 team wants to hook and slash and clutch and grab for 60 minutes, they should be paraded to the penalty box all game as a result. Teams and Players will adjust the way they play if the League and Refs would actually start calling penalties consistently that have already existed in the rule book for over a century. Can't expose too much though right like why you need 2 different rule books for Regular season and a separate rule book for Playoffs, Where I have major concerns is in the current game management setup, The moment you Ref a Regular Season game with the rule book for the Playoffs you are very much altering the outcome of that game, same can be said when you Ref a Playoff game with the Regular season rule book you are very much altering the outcome of that game. The same can be said when Team A executes 100 infractions for 4 penalties and Team B executes 20 infractions for 4 penalties, Team A is altering the outcome of that game because the Refs are blinded by game management. But we shouldn't expose how much altering the outcomes of games actually happens right? Lets just add Betting everywhere that will make it better right??

"No ifs, ands or buts.... however". LOL What a joke 1:06 Who is on top in the "wrestling match"? 1:11 of the video... who is punching who in the head? So who exactly should have been called for a penalty before the xcheck.. Mcdavid. You can call Garland for holding if you want.. but there is no universe where Mcdavid should not also be getting an interference or roughing penalty for an altercation that HE INITIATED. Also .. are we all new to hockey? Edmonton had possession of the puck.. and with mcdavid and garland tied up it was still 5 on 4 with Edmontons leading scorer Draisaitl free to win the game. Not to mention the oiler player that pinned Pettersson in the oilers zone at the beginning of the 6 on 5 while the oilers went up the ice. Literally no different, Pettersson is the Canucks best defensive forward and one of the best in the league and he was held out of the play.. no call. So yes Frank you ARE absolving and making excuses for him all of the media are by even bringing up the scrum. HE tackled Garland, He laid on Garland, He punched Garland.. not to mention the earlier spear to Hroneks throat that was uncalled. If the NHL had done their jobs Mcdavid wouldn't have been playing this game at all, he would be sitting out on a suspension for elbowing a player in the head that he put on to IR and out of the game.

The nhl is a joke when it comes to holding refs accountable.. if u call the game as it’s suppose to.. and u don’t try to manage the pp time of a team (like they do against edm) this wouldn’t happen.. Dana white public fires shit performances by officials.. maybe the nhl shouldn’t public shame their officials, but at least, force them to explain
