The guy who critiques fine artists saying they just do a mural every 6 months clearly doesn't know what he's talking about 😂 I work in an art gallery and the artists are working daily on their craft, because they have to pay their rent like everyone else
@jimjimson62082 ай бұрын
There probably are fine artists that could sell a piece every six months and still make ends meet... just like there are tattoo artists that could do the same. Those are the lucky ones, the reality is that 95% of people in creative industries will bust their asses every day. I'm a traditional artist and seeing a tattoo artist go off against an entire medium is crazy, you would think artists would have more solidarity for each other, especially living in these times.
@hailyjohnson4074 ай бұрын
The style of tattoos im interested in is definitely more along what that girl wanted for her flowers. Even though my style is very different from what you like, I still feel like I learn a lot from your videos from the technical perspective to help me pick better artists and tattoos that will hold up better (having an outline, what colors tend to fade, how details age with time) when I do get my realistic-ish style flowers! I want my tattoos to age well, but I also want to get tattoos that I love, and I enjoy learning from your perspective!
@inb42304 ай бұрын
DON'T take the word of one artist as the gospel,the tattoo you want WILL HOLD for MANY years if you choose someone that knows what they're doing, don't listen to BULLSHIT that's usually said by people that go " i want to be a tatooer(NOT ARTIST!) but I'm not good at drawing, I don't know perspective, or colour theory,light and shadow,got no imagination or talent, so I'll just become a one trick pony stencil tracer and sht talk the guys that do ,and call it a day!". I can straight up direct you to people showing 6,7 years healed colour work that looks exactly like when it was fresh on video,unfortunately there's several types of tattoo artists,the good ones that started when you had to be multi talented and tattoo a tribal tattoo today, a realistic butterfly tomorrow,a neotrad girl the next day and a lettering tattoo the next, then you got the one trick pony tracers that simply learned the basics, line pack shade and immediately called it a day and assumed they knew everything, and finally the ones that are basically like the one trick ponies, learned the basics, called it a day in studying but still assume they can do what people that put the mileage on their craft do.Avoid 2 and 3 and you'll be fine

Funny thing: About the Ink Master clothing choices. I was on Tattoo Nightmares Miami (Season Finale). They didn't like the shirts I had brought with me, and made me wear a purple shirt every time I was supposed to be on camera. P.S. They also changed around the story of how I got the original tattoo.

Tattooist since 1993. Owned a chain of shops and it's 💯 manufactured. One of my guys was on a "reality" cake making series and he was also a singer in a band. They manufactured his persona into a marriage proposal. The "call" from his successful New Orleans "proposal" was made from down the street in a parking lot. It has made the craft and industry into a horde of egomaniacs and doesn't reflect reality at all.

As a professional artist I work 7 days a week... I have clients and deadlines and I animate. Some pieces I can do in a day. Some take me 3 months. There is no easy way to stay motivated. The artist that can do like two pieces a year, three pieces a year. That is so rare and that would be a great goal, but it's not realistic in the world of art. 90% of artists are churning out client work more than their own and it becomes soul bleeding. So that guy can shut up because some of my art will take me forever and when it comes down to the finish cost, I'm basically making sometimes $4 an hour on certain pieces.

I've got some UV ink in my half sleeve, but it's more of an Easter egg than anything. There's a biohazard symbol hidden amongst some leaves and flowers. It's just orange (as it should be) but it's UV reactive. I work in the haunt industry so I'm in blacklight more than most people and it's neat to see it peeking out from the dark leaves. I've been thinking of adding a radiation symbol so I can have the set.
