Needless to say, mad props to the man, he’s been silent ever since I left for college and haven’t heard anything from him, I’m just assuming he’s continued down his doctorate path for chemistry, as he was only a one year teacher at my school.

Seems way too complicated to know in the moment, mostly because it depends on DI, stage size, character weight, percent, whether the person getting hit can tech (for hits towards the stage), and for things like smash attacks how much they're charged idk just seems like it shouldn't be allowed in the spirit of ensuring fairness bc I doubt these people are thinking of everything when they do pause

There's usually an 'inevitability' rule as well. If what's happening at the time of the pause can't be altered and will result in the game ending (Ness was already in Aqua Jet, and it would kill), you can't really assess the penalty.
