Fun fact: All of the voices you hear in the background during the "no's" are ACTUAL fans. The band told fans in LA to come visit them at a location and they sat and recorded vocals as a group for the album. So essentially every song on this album features the fans in some way. Also, this album was part of a difficult time in their history because their label EMI sued them for 30 million dollars due to them not releasing 4 albums in time (They did 3 albums in 7 years and they said that wasn't enough per the contract). Jared Leto directed a documentary while making the album to show their fight and it features other artists who have experienced, and sadly still experience similar issues with ownership of old songs/publishing rights as well as various abuses in the music industry including the late Chester Bennington and Kanye West. Its an amazing documentary called Artifact and I highly recommend it. That's why this video has so much about the fans honestly.

Every song they do is Awesome. Jared Leto has such a unique voice, and I've never seen a front man with so much passion!! (Helps he's so nice to look at, as well. 😜) And they were considered Alt Rock back in the day, but I think their more recent music is more indicative of that. Old stuff was more Rock.

i would describe their most famous songs as a subgenre of rock - stadium-rock or\and anthem-rock, because they're tailored to be performed in huge arenas with people sing along, but yeah alt. rock and hard rock could describe overall of their work (except last album tho)
