What was your favorite movie in the series? What was your favorite of our reactions?
@mentalbreaker742 жыл бұрын
my favourite part is Eclipse because I love other family members and we get to know them better in this one, and guys there is also a fanmade series (videos with other actors) telling the whole stories of Alice(and how her powers manifested, it's heartbreaking), Esme, Carlise and others. It's really nice done and it's on youtube. And it was my favourite reaction from you guys, since it is that point in the Twilight saga where people often change their opinion on something more positive. The whole series is like my little therapy and puts me always in specific mood. I often play those movies at random order when I made artworks. Sorry, for my english I'm from Poland and it's not my native language.

I'd much rather see a psychological horror movie from Charlie's perspective. His daughter gets married at 18, barely out of high school, to her boyfriend, the same person who abandoned her for her own protection. Then, she gets hospitalised on her honeymoon, her eyes suddenly change colour, and she's obviously not the same person. Add a granddaughter who ages overnight in the span of a month, Jacob revealing his wolf form to him, and growing older while Bella stays the same age forever, and you really have to feel sorry for Charlie.

The book had no fight scene at all, in that the Volturi arrive and they talk it out and then they leave. Directly adapting it would have been incredibly anticlimactic, so imho including the vision fight scene was actually getting the best of both worlds, letting us have the happy ending from the books as well as getting to see a great fight scene. Well atleast yall got to see some action in the fight that could of been in Alice's vision. Showing How Bella and Edward were the ones who took down Aro. In the book we didn't get that. The action filled battle scene was not in the book. Actually what happens in the book is in Bellas perspective and it's all a huge battle she is fighting in her mind against Jane and against Alec. And even Aro was scared of her and how it was really her that saved the day and also Alice proving that Renessmee is not the onky vampire human hybrid. And that she's not a threat. Bella is having to fight so hard mentally and you don't really see that in the movie because it's glossed over and it takes you into the actual action packed battle that would of been nice if we had it in the book. So honestly I was pleasantly surprised and thankful for their attempt to show us how realistic Alice's vision is and how so easily things could go that way. Also notice how Edward looks down and smiles at Bella like one proud husband after Alice tells Aro now you see what your future will become unless you decide a different course. Edward saw Alice's vision so he practically lived it in his mind. And he saw Bella in her full glory and was proud of her. Also the end of the movie would have been a little boring because alot of what happens is in Bellas mind behind the scenes and under all the talking. Bella is in a battle all by herself. It's a battle in the mind. And you can't exactly portray that on a movie like they did with the book. Using her shield to protect everyone from Jane and Alec. And Edward needed to kill Demetri cause Demetri is a tracker and he is who the Volturi uses to find people. That's how come it would of been impossible to hide from them. Only Bellas shield could hide her unless she shielded the others at all times as well.
@Feafus112 жыл бұрын
One thing I love about these movies is that an actor of Michael Sheen’s caliber could have easily just phoned in his performance in this teen vampire drama, but the fact that he gives 110% to his performance makes him such a wonderfully campy vampire villain. Honestly I personnaly loved the twist, mostly because I didn't want Carlisle dead but also because it's basically the only way to have the Volturi not force a fight : to show them they'd lose. FYI in the books there's straight up no fight. It's more of a cold war with Jane, Alec and the others releasing their powers to try and trigger a fight and Bella protecting them, but in the end they have enough witnesses and proof so that the Volturi leave. Therefore I think it's great that there's a fight in the first place because otherwise it wouldn't have worked with a movie format. I also think the battle scene itself is not ruined by the twist because you can see a ton of character growth or just satisfying moments in it, with gor example Leah saving Esmée despite hating the vampires at first, or obviously the Alpha (forgot his name) killing Jane as a vengeance for Seth's death. I also find it hilarious at the end how all the other Volturi keep trying to push for reasons to fight bur Aro is scared shitless and has to defend the Cullens because he saw he was gonna die.

The part about Carlisle’s power being empathy is actually spot on. The vampires powers are supposed to be just supper enhanced projections of their human talents. Human Carlisle was very empathetic, he always wanted to help people. Human Edward was very perceptive of peoples thoughts and wants, which translated to his mind reading as a vampire. Jasper was very perceptive to peoples emotions, now he can influence them. Alice’s is very interesting, she already had psychic type abilities, which actually sent her to a mental ward, back when they tortured and experimented on people era. So naturally Bella is a shield, as a human she was not affected by mind type abilities, then it’s enhanced as a vampire where she can project this on others.

Unfortunately, the book is very anticlimactic. Because the book is mostly told from Bella's POV, we never actually know what Alice showed Aro that makes him change his mind (the only part of the books is in Breaking Dawn between after Bella and Edward get to the airport after finding out she's pregnant to Jacob imprinting on Renesmee, is all actually in Jacob's POV. Also, there was recently a re-telling of the whole first book released that was supposed to be released years ago, but in Edward's POV, but it had gotten leaked years ago and Stephanie Myers was so upset that she had quit finishing it for tears until recently). Basically, take out the battle and that's what happened in the book. VERY anticlimactic. There was no way they could do that scene just like that on screen. So, they added in Alice vision, that was they can have an exciting fight scene that'll even have the book fans shook, but without changing the original ending (blame Stephanie Myers for writing the book ending the way she did). Though, the movie does leave out the fact that the wolves aren't actual werewolves as Caius claimed and that they're actually spirit shifters and long ago, one of spirit shifters from their tribe happened to put his spirit into a wolf and from then, some of his descendants began transforming into wolves (actually, all of the movies leave out a lot of information from the books in general, but I digress lol)... My sisters, mom, & I went to see this in the theater opening night and the whole theater collectively lost their shit at Carlise's death. Even people who don't like Twilight still talk about it to this day. We were hyped for it to come out on DVD to my dad's reaction. Do you this man did not react his head snatched? Dude didn't even flinch. Jasper got Judo chopped. Nothing. Seth gets snapped, he didn't even know who it was. You know what made him jump out and shout "NO! NOT HER!"? When Esme was dangling off that damn cliff. We all looked at him like "What the hell? You ain't said a word this whole battle!" Seeing guys do Twilight reactions, I've realized that men seem to have some form of attachment to Esme, despite being the least utilized character in the Cullen family. Also, all of the vampires have certain "gifts", even they aren't "superpowers". Think of them as advancing gifts they already have. Carlise is empathy and compassion, Emmett has super strength(even for a vampire), Rosalie is her extrodinary beauty (she's also surprisingly the main mechanic in the family, but it's never said in the movies). Even Victoria had the gift of self preservation (that's why it took three movies to finally take her out, and even then they almost missed their shot again, because she hauled ass Riley got his hand snatched, until Edward baited her)... Esme's has the gift of love. It's why no one in the story dislikes her. Even Leah, who despises vampires, struggled with her feelings regarding Esme. You saw Leah in the movie being standoffish towards Esme when she tried to give the wolves sandwiches and turned away from her. The reason being was that although Leah chose to leave Sam's pack to be with her brother, she missed her home and more importantly her mom, Sue, Charlie's girlfriend (that's why you see Seth & Leah at Charlie's house for Christmas with their mom). Leah hates vampires, but in the book, while she and Jacob are protecting the Cullens, she tells Jacob how much Esme reminds her of her mother and it hurts her that she may never get to see her mom again. So, although it's never talked about in the movie (although it could ha e mentioned when she and Jacob had their one-on-one talk, and Jacob, despite not liking Leah, makes her his second in command over Seth, as he comes to finally understand her a bit more), Leah sacrificing herself to save Esme during the battle was actually a big deal. She'd just lost her little brother and seeing the woman that reminded her of her own mother, she couldn't let that happen. They look at each other, Leah looks sad as she falls, and Esme look hurt because being the type of person that she is, despite Leah's standoff behavior, she probably viewed her as another new daughter, like family. It's a small moment and if you've never read the books, you'd never know the deep significance of that one moment, but it's truly one of my favorites on the whole series and I was very happy that they did that for the book fans, especially since they didn't really put much of Leah and a good portion of her talks with Jacob in Breaking Dawn Part 1 (I also love that they immediately cut to Sam, Leah's ex-fiance/high school sweetheart, wolf snapping as if he realized that Leah was dead. He never stopped caring about Leah, despite everything that happened between them)... The one thing I mainly dislike about both the Breaking Dawn book and movies is Leah doesn't get much of a happy ending. Sure, she's finally getting respect from her pack brothers, and maybe her finally accepting being a wolf, despite all of the pain it has caused her, but she doesn't really get a happy ending like everyone. The list of things she suffered from in the series are basically buckets of shit dumped on her. Her fiance randomly breaks up with her because of some shit that he's going through bit refuse to talk to her about (he isolated himself because of becoming a wolf and also Leah had introduced Sam to her cousin and he had imprinted, much to his horror and had to break up with Leah without explanation, although but I guess it's hard to fight fate). He later gets engaged to her cousin, Emily, so now she hates them both. Her father dies of a heart attack (Harry Clearwater in New Moon), which her anger, pain, and grief triggers her into becoming the first ever female wolf in their tribe (Seth transforms right along with her). Then she's forced into the pack with her brother, that's literally led by her ex, so the resentment is even more. They all can hear each other's thought when in wolf form, so there's an uncontrolled invasion of privacy, and she gets shit all the time for her resentful thoughts and behavior, but seem sympathetic to Jacob's obsessive thoughts about Bella and hating Edward all the time. The wolves don't physically age unless you stop phasing altogether or for a long period of time, which means like , they kinda stay stuck in time physically. In the book Breaking Dawn, when Leah and Jacob have their talk before Renesmee was born, Leah tells Jacob that she understands where Rosalie is coming from with her over-protectiveness regarding Bella and her unborn child because she understands what it's like to not be able to have children and have that choice taken away from her. You see the thing about the wolves is that as long as they frequently change into their wolf form, they don't physically age kinda frozen in time. The problem with that is that means that Leah no longer has a menstrual cycle because she's kinda frozen in time, so unless she quits being a wolf, she can't have children, but you can't just leave the pack. On top of that, one thing they talk about was imprinting, to which Leah spoke with Jacob briefly in Breaking Dawn Part 1 about wishing she could just imprint on anyone to get over the resentment of Sam/Emily (Jacob actually takes it to heart and drives to Seattle and finds a girl he find attractive trying despite it not being how imprinting works). Imprinting is kinda their version of a romantic soulmate, but the wolves are willing to play whatever role that the one who they imprinted on work, so the imprint is the one who actually has control of the relationship, not tge wolf, but they normally end in romance. They don't know why they imprint, but the theory in their tribe is that they imprint to further the wolves' bloodline. If Leah can't have children, and her being the first ever female wolf of their tribe, Leah tells Jacob that if the theory is correct, she'll never be able to imprint and move on because she CAN'T have children, and believes her becoming a wolf was an accident. So, now she's suffering in a life that was not only her choosing but an accident she can't get out of. She's forced to deal with protecting Bella, who she doesn't like, and the whole Jacob/Bella/Edward drama fest (although in the New Moon book, they were cool with each other when Bella was hanging out with Jacob all the time and her, Seth, Jacob, and Bella would chill and do homework whenever their dads would have their guys night at Billy's house). Her leaves the pack to protect her brother and finally escape Sam, both Jacob and Leah give her shit (until she has that talk with Jacob), she's surrounded by vampires, and on top of everything, she misses her mom she may never see again. I don't know how felt about her mom dating Charlie, especially since her father, one of Charlie's best friend, died probably less than a year prior. The ONLY thing she liked about being a wolf is how fast she runs and is the fastest-running wolf in the pack. That's it. She honestly didn't get a real happy ending. Not like everyone else...
@AnxietyRat2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Leah's story never fails to make me angry. Cuz she just gets shit on CONSTANTLY and she doesn't get a happy ending like the rest of the characters in the book... pretty much. You did a really good job of breaking down exactly all of the horrible shit that has happened to Leah and how unfair her life is. She's a cold bitch but she has a REASON to be a cold bitch... And things really don't get better for her within the series. A lot of people have written fanfiction about Leah to potentially give her a happy ending that the series never did or to expand upon her character because she doesn't get a huge amount of scenes in the books and even less scenes in the movies. Alice and Leah are two characters in which I wish Stephanie Meyer wrote MORE about. As they are both fascinating and tragic characters. But Alice does get a happy ending... and Leah doesn't, unfortunately.

So that was the whole point for Bella. She loves Edward, but she was born to be a vampire. Anyway she managed to be a pain in the ass for everyone for four movies! 😂 As a books reader before the movies I’d say the books were obviously deeper. Nice reaction to the entire series.

One of my favorite parts of this, in my theatre, was when Caius started to press for a fight after Aro read Alice's mind and talked with the other dhampir and Aro just turned to Caius with a silent head-shake like "no, just stop" and then turned to the Volturi and serenely went "There is no danger here." There was a smattering of laughter after that. But my favorite reactions in this video: 1. Alice's vision reveal 38:21 2. Carlisle's death 33:20 3. "Okay, Vecna, chill out." 39:52

So the reason they had to do the vision fight is because in the book, there was absolutely no fight. They talked, they showed proof, the Volturi left. So the movie team knew audiences would be let down but that being the climax of the whole series, but they also couldn’t actually kill the characters since they didn’t die in the books (and Stephenie Meyer wouldn’t let them change that). So as annoying as it is, I think they actually did the best with what they were given since it had to be a “best of both worlds” situation. Also just about the human gang, I would LOVE a “where are they now” 20 or so years later, especially if they’re all just reminiscing about “those weird Cullen’s” and then like realize that they were vampires. I think a podcast of the human friends would be comedy gold 🤣

Carlisle's ability explains why he's a vegetarian. An imprinted wolf becomes whatever his imprint needs of him: if Renesmee needs a protector, Jake's her protector; if she needs a friend, he's her friend; if she needs a brother, he's her brother; and if (when) she falls in love with him and needs him to be her husband, then he cannot help falling in love with her and becoming her husband. He's helpless--all he can do is serve her and be whatever she needs him to be. It's a wolf thing.

I'll explain the imprinting one more time: when Nessie is still a child, Jacob only feels platonic feelings for her. Once she is old enough if she forms a crush on Jacob then his feelings will also change and they can start dating, which is the future Alice sees. Jacob feels very self-sacrificing anything Nessie ever wants I will be that -kind of love for her, and he has no control over it. But yes, it's also commonly known that usually the child does end up falling in love with the guy once they grow up because they're a perfect match so why wouldn't they. Jacob knows this hence the dad-line

The imprinting is actually cannot be controlled.. It can happen at any age and imprint on anyone.. So most fans dont find that weird.. Other than you guys.. 😂 When Jacob comes to see Renesmee, his intention was really to kill her but then it just happened that Jacob imprinted on her unintentionally and that changed him and his feelings for her.. Its a wolf thing indeed. And in the books, thats exactly is the ending with the volturi..They simply talk and when Aro saw Bella's potential to Shield, he knew they were at the disadvantage. So when Alice present her witness, that convinced him. As a whole the movie really didnt stray away with the books storyline and just brought some more twist and trick for the fans..the fight was the cherry on top of the moviee bcoz theres no big fight scenes in the books.. It was actually an opposite reaction for most fans who already read the book after seeing the fight scenes, everyone was confused coz that was unexpected then realizing it was a vision.. It was a wild roller coaster movie experience..lol But overall the movie made an epic version of the book. Theres some missed and changed little details but still it really exceed the expectations of og fans..
