I totally agree if I’m reading a romance book I don’t mind one or two scenes at the end but when it’s constant over and over it’s yuck. Some of my non reader friends are only reading some books for the smut and missing all these good books that they would like because they only want to read porn on paper. Also only my opinion

I think it depends, most miscommunication tropes ive read include exaggerated and dragged out scenarios that most people would solve in a 5 minute conversation. However a situation like ‘normal people’ might be more realistic for others. Personally I prefer to talk straight away to avoid overthinking + anxiety so miscommunication tropes actually feel super unrealistic to me and thats why i avoid them ahahah. I actually love reading realistic situations in books, but im sure lots of other people read to avoid reality 😅

Most of the hate comes from the fact that most authors don't do it properly and it gets dragged on for longer than needs be. it's annoying irl but having to read it is just as exhausting.

enemies to lovers only makes sense in fantasy books as they have a valid reason for being enemies, within simple romance books half of the time they aren't enemies as either one of them likes the other or as you said they just dont like each other. I actually liked the spanish love deception but for people to label it as an enemies to lover is completely wrong. And if by any chance they genuinely have a hatred and are enemies its just simply romantisicing bullying and abuse.

For enemies to lovers and friends to lovers personally I think enemies to lovers r being overdone now and they are not even written in a way as if they r really enemies they just have one petty reason to always tease each other and they r not even taking it seriously and boom they are dating. Like the only enemies to lover I've ever really loved was Cruel prince like "Tell me you hate me" " I hate you" "and he kisses me harder" like I can actually see that happening. Everything they went through and how they fell in love with it's like they have so many unsaid things to each other and there is misunderstandings and they are too far gone and it's awkward and they can't really tell each other how they feel but they can't resist each other either like kiss already it's obvious enough. And for friends to lovers personally it really depends like I really can't see myself dating a childhood friend unless there was always something unsaid between us. But imagine like you guys are friends and your friend is always there and suddenly they are like I love you and all and then then it's just gets clear they only were friends with you because they had ulterior motives but it's different if they grew into those feeling later tho it can actually be cute.

I hate small age-gaps too when one of the characters is a teenager. Like a 4 year age-gap but it's 16 and 20. It's way too common in YA books.

Dog earring pages are CRIME 😭 ik nobody is going to know that you are dog earring pages, but there is still CONSCIENCE. I will feel guilty for the rest of my life if I do that.

7:49 i need reccs girlfriend bc i say im an hardcore enemies to lovers in fantasy fan but as of rn it is just in theory bc I haven't read one in a whole minute 1:26 ONG OMG I always feel so bad because I'm just reading 7 books in a month once in a while and some of them are bangers but I can't appreciate them enough bc I'm moving onto my next read very fast. but like there's so much to read and so less time so all I can do is feel guilty about not appreicating books enough 😪 9:03 MOST OF THE TIME I like the pregnancy trope🤫 14:21 omg I always used to lose bookmarks and stuff so I just folded the page or put a pencil in but in middle school my bsf made me this bookmark in a arts and crafts thing during her ENG CLASS and I don't even talk to her anymore since I switched schools but after like 4-5 years I still use the same bookmark like it's genuinely so special to me and i cant imagine using anything else instead of that lol

Nah re: cracking book spines, I have so much climate anxiety and there is so much over-consumption encouraged on book-social media that I just want all my books to last forever (also I'm a sentimental gal who refuses to get rid of anything) and cracking the spine damages the book and shortens its lifespan uhhh and that is my beef with cracking bookspines. If it happens just from reading, it happens, looks a bit shit but whatever. When I buy second-hand books I don't care if they have cracked spines or nah, but if I have a book that doesn't have a cracked spine, that spine is not (hopefully) getting cracked while the book is in my care x))) I am v v ok with dog-earing though, even if I don't do it myself But yeah nah long-time "they're like my sibling"-kind of friends to lovers grosses me out lol
