To clear up, the 1999 update for Warframe has an in universe boyband and this song is from them. The original is really, really good I’d love to see you react to it as well as the other song from them called “The Great Despair”

It's honestly a work of genius. Besides the fact that the original was performed by the composers of Warframe's music (talk about multi-talented!), the fact that it fits not only the 90s boy band aesthetic perfectly, but also has those sinister undertones referencing the lore of Warframe--in particular the techrot/infestation and their all-consuming nature is just brilliant. "Join us, embrace us. Don't ever erase us." "Revoke the frailties of flesh. Let us in." "We embrace you. Why do you defile us?" "Embrace us. We are your flesh." "Unburden yourself from this mortal coil. Join us." The first one is a quote from the song. The rest are quotes from infested monsters in the game. The writers know what they are doing.

I have never really cared for pop boy bands, or their style of music, but there is something super addictive about this track. It's a serious earworm, and I've been surprised at how many times I've found myself humming it, or otherwise mentally bopping along with it. That said, some of it is almost definitely the VoicePlay Effect, in which they can take practically any song and turn it into my new favorite thing. But it's such a great mark of respect that Warframe reached out to VoicePlay about this collab- they loved Sleeping In the Cold Below, and wanted to have the guys put their own spin on this track. I truly think VoicePlay did an amazing job putting their mark on the track, and dang do they embody that On-Lyne group! If you get the chance, check out the Warframe art for On-Lyne- I would almost swear that Zeke was modeled off Geoff!

So, Warframe is a free game available just about everywhere. It's a hefty download, but it's a worthy download. Game basics explained below: In Warframe, you play as, well, Warframes, and there are currently 58 different ones, and they are all unique in their own ways and you can make your own builds (and fashions) to these frames. You get your starter frame, finish the intro, and then from there, go to different planets doing different missions, side quests, main quests, and eventually the real meat of the questline, where you start learning about who everyone truly is, including yourself. Warframe's concept has always been "ninjas in space." But the latest update has seen us go back in time (more precisely, Dec 31, 1999) to fight against an enemy we know little about, called the Indifference. With a Y2K concept that revolves around "tech-rot" and Infestation, it's great to see VoicePlay incorporate that into this music video. At first I wasn't sure about the cover, but now it's an earworm. We've been infested!
