It was also the first man to die under his command. He made it through the Trojan war without losing any soliders due to his strategy and wisdom, but here, not only did the his best friend die, the last 10 years of keeping them all alive is gone.

In my opinion, if he didn't have his men to worry about, I think he'd go back to the Land of the Lotus Eaters and full-on Anakin Skywalker with the Tusken Raiders them.

In survive, it took me a while to realize this, but Polities is literally never shown attacking Polyphemus. He’s just helping those who are hurt, and of course he has to be the one who dies… along with like twenty thirty other guys.

For context and information: When Athena talks to Ody in his head she pulls Odysseus into something called 'quick thought'. That is when you hear the metronome/clock ticking. You could also hear the metronome/clock in the beginning of Horse and the Infant because Odysseus used his wits and his cunning, approved and supported by Athena. If Ody and Athena talk in 'quick tought' others can not hear or see Athena or that Ody talks to someone, it's like no time passes, the whole song/conversation is just a few seconds. That is what you saw in Open Arms with the Flash warning in the end. Why Odysseus was suddenly torn and let the apple fall. If you watch the Animatic of Warrior of the mind from the same creator where you watched Open Arms you can see in their version how they portrayed quick tought.

What i absolutely love about the visuals of that animatic of Survive in particular is the eyes. A very subtle detail I didn't noticed until subsequent rewatches is how they glow, that red dark intent to kill/enact violence. Polyphemus had it since the beginning and as the battle actually begins so do the soldiers, Odysseus, and Eurylocus. All of them EXCEPT Polities and the little winion fella. Polities ideals were always open arms and never violence which makes his passing so rough. Likewise, when the cyclops starts wacking with the club all the soldiers lose that glow as they are now trying to be slaughtered and that confidence is shattered.

Just out of context: the first guy to die was Odysseus' best friend (Polites). That's why he was in shock and why he couldn't react, he couldn't believe it. If you want to check out, there is a song that didn't make it and was cut out of the project, it's sung by Polites telling us about their past and his "motivations". I truly understand why it's not in the musical anymore, but it just hurt me that people don't know enough about it 'cause it's SO beautiful. Oh and the name is "Your Light" by the way

I guess I never once thought this until you say he's paralyzed by fear but this is the first time Odysseus is seeing his men actually killed in a fight so he's processing all that for the last part of survive. And then it just keeps happening with each beat of the club

Your reaction to Polyohemus in the animatic is GOLDEN hahaha it reminded me of the first time I heard the full song 😂 also, your "Was the wine poisoned?" when Odysseus offers the wine... well you GOTTA listen to the next song now! In all honesty I think the WHOLE Cyclops saga shoudl be listened togheter, because just like "Polyphemus" morph into "Survive", so "Survive" morph amaizingly into "Remember them" to the point that in my mind the three songs are basically one very long song. Whatever friend of yours choose the animatic choose damn well! Those are some of the best animatic in the fandom in my opinion! Wonderfully made and always astounding, they add a new other layer to just the music.

One thing I love about the musical production of Epic is that every character has a significant instrument that represents their character. For example, odysseus is represented by a more electric guitar when he is strategizing and in battle. And a more traditional guitar when he's being vulnerable like talking about Penelope. Also, Athena goddess of wisdom is represented by a piano, Erilocus is represented by the voices of the crew, and even though we don't hear her a lot, Penelope is represented by a Viola and anytime her theme place. It's played on the viola. And the gods have more electrical instruments while the mortals have more typical traditional instruments. This is all very well thought out and really really cool.

About your comment about using different creators for different animatics- thats completely fine! In my opinion, i prefer it when reaction channels use multiple creators who made the animatics as it helps the original videos gain more popularity- spread the love n all in the community! As a lot of people will say, no hate to Wolfy for her interpretation of Warrior of the mind, but with Open arms ending by Miscry,, it leads into her own version of Warrior of the mind. Highly recommend checking out her version in your free time!

@@Urbanloki625 In my opinion all the interpretations of the Greek gods just made them more human with insane power, not really godlike entities. And i love Mircy's videos, My goodbye and warriors of the mind as it shows this prideful Athena that wants everyone to know her and obey her but when someone steps out of line she lashes out angrily and leaves, unable to understand these feelings of anger as she is a God so she isn't suppose to feel this, right? Her anger and screaming at Odysseus when he mourns for his friend and screaming at his back as he walks away from her. it almost seemed like 'Your nothing without me!' she would scream at him and yet she felt her own soul in pain as her friend left her. Very powerful in my opinion.

Odysseus breaking up and, admitting that he thought her as friend, but now he is happy she is leaving, but her godly mind, in all its wisdom, goes "he thought me friend?lol" for a second, and that's all her reaction, cause she is so distantly inhuman. Love Wolfy's version for that, because it isn't fight, it is Athena thinking breaking up would make Odysseus sorry, but him simply breaking up and shouting at her more and more

Def agree Miscry's editions should be watched together for the full story between them. Wolfy's version is definitely scores above in both technical skill and storyboarding though (no hate, Wolfy just seems to have more experience), so I'm glad hers is the one his friend chose to use.

2 things. your expression when the eye opened was worth gold my friend. it was just a wonderful expression that mirrored my own my first watch of this animation of Polythemus. and... the first casualty was the happy guy from Open arms and i was utterly devistated. i love that the animators go out of their way to make the characters look like the performers who sing the songs so we can follow who is who throughout the Epic story. but boy it felt like that club hit my heart

The guys he killed where there for around 10 years, lived on his estates supplies (so many sheep, cows, goats. As well as grain, milk, wine, ect) without paying for them or asking. Refused to leave when told to repeatedly. And they did it for 10 years.

I've heard people call polities a bit one-note, but I don't really think that's the case, because he was always meant to be the nicer one and the peacekeeper, and it's only after he's gone that you begin to realize how much things are falling apart, poliities clearly kept odysseus's ego in check a bit, and his death paved the way for Odysseus to become "the monster" (but I don't know if this is even remotely backed up by the story of The Odyssey, so if someone wouldn't mind enlightening me, that would be great)
