I think the reason most Dubs fans are mad at Podz is because the ownership gassed him up to be a "future all-star" and he's nowhere near that, plus his comments on "the vets looking up to him" also rubbed people the wrong way

Also this will be very interesting but remains to be seen how they use him in the lineup. He offers a lot of options. He potentially allows for a death lineup idea with Curry, Schroeder, Heild, Wiggs and Green but ye Podz only option is point btw until he can up his shooting splits. Podz got his ego inflated a bit too much and just needs to settle a bit into the season. He willbe fine but he's no super star

The shroder trade doesnt make the warriors contenders, but it immediately replaces the hole that Melton left when he got injured. Now, melton is a very hard piece to replace for this warriors system, because he was a perfect fit next to steph or in the 2nd unit, as a combo guard, great POA defender, great off ball defender, catch n shoot guy, can run off of screens and shoot on the move, read n react iq, etc. Shroder will be a great option for when the offense stagnates( especially in the 4th) where the warriors just need someone to breakdown the defense and create something when steph is being denied 😂

I think the things with Podz, is he needs a bit more development /not quite at a level to just really place as much of a responsibility load on him. He will still get plenty of minutes, but it will relieve some of the pressure I would assume is the thought. Podz and JK experiment is almost up. JK has shown a bit more potential than podz and it's simply due to body type and natural physical metrics. You can use JK in more lineups and has more upside. Podz found a niche last year and somehow forgot where his true value is....Podz has been a massive dissapointment so far and that's saying it nicely. Remember Podz was one of the key pieces linked in blockbuster trade options last year when he was a rookie sensation. His value was at an all time high but now because we didn't pull the trigger we have to be in this weird ass grey zone where we have to support him when we know that his upside isn't nearly as high as people thought to start

I think everyone saying the Nets got 'fleeced' is part of what's wrong with the NBA. This idea that teams need to give up multiple players and assets to get any sort of talent back... And obviously it gets even worse the bigger that talent is. As a Warriors fan of course I'm happy for this trade so it might sound very biased, but for a long time now I've been of the opinion that it's sad that mutually-beneficial trades are not a thing anymore. Schroder is an expiring contract, Melton is an expiring contract. The Nets are looking for expiring contracts and draft capital, not for impact players. In fact, having salary in injured players should make tanking easier. So they swapped one expiring for another one plus a couple 2nd round picks. Could they have gotten more? Possibly. But maybe there's nothing wrong with making a deal you like and building good relationships with other front offfices around the league, instead of dragging it out and making it ugly. I'm not mad at them for not wanting to give up Kuminga for Cam. I'm afraid they'll keep handling his situation in correctly in general, but this specific instance is not unreasonable. I guess they're thinking they should only send him out for a bigger caliber player, but Idk if they'll actually manage that. We'll have to wait and see how it all unfolds.

Another interesting angle is how this trade impacts any potential Jimmy Butler trade. Very hard to match the salaries now for the Warriors. Melton's contract at $12mil was a big help. Now to get the money to match Warriors would need to trade something like; Wiggins, Gary Payton, Kuminga, Podz, and Lindy Waters.

Podz just isn't good enough to warrant the amount of minutes he has been playing. He hustles and rebounds and defends well for his size. But he is undersized and has regressed offensively. Right now the team just needs a lot more from the starting 2 guard than he can provide. The team is bereft of secure ball handling and shot creation. Steph can create like few others but he's old and it's really obvious he can' carry the team by himself at this point. Him and Dray are also turning the ball over way too much for the amount of talent this team has. When there was KD, Zaza, D West, S Dot Iggy etc it didn't matter cause the team was stacked and could poor on points frighteningly quickly. Now there are pretty terrible in the half court and Kerr's refusal to consistently hunt mismatches holds them back. They just have to take much better care of the ball if they want to have a hope of winning anything, be it any regular season game, play in game or even a 1st round series should they make it that far.
