Just a lil context for the album, paak got married in 2010 or 2011 and had two children together. But just this January they had filed for divorce, and within days paparazzi spotted him with a new woman, so there were signs pointing towards his infidelity being the cause. Your analysis on KeepHer, FromHere, and HereIAm were almost on point, but it's almost impossible to figure it out without the background information. But great reaction, hope your holiday was amazing!
@aw11348

Oh, as far as I know, it was basically an open secret in LA party scenes that Anderson Paak was a massive serial cheater. In a Reddit thread announcing his divorce, half the comments are claiming they slept with him while he was married. It's unfortunate. But at least it led to a pretty great album I guess
@jasontorres9422
@jasontorres9422 3 күн бұрын
@@aw11348 Honestly, it’s sadly not surprising. Almost every single paak project, and even NxWorries first album, there were always themes of infidelity and fights with your lover. So hearing the divorce news was sad, but to me, who been a superfan since 2015, pretty obvious. I felt like this album was the essence of feeling sorry for yourself but not willing to mature. Telling “the hoes that he single again” and bragging about throwing bands at a strip club while having two kids is insane😭😭. But I always separate art from the artist, talent doesn’t choose morality.
@jja2000

@@jasontorres9422Yeah... I don't understand how people completely forget his lyrics of the entirity of Yes Lawd! Separating the art from the artist becomes hard if they're the same thing.

@@jasontorres9422 Well, in the album he recognizes that he can no longer behave like used to ...I think that means some level of maturity, but practice is always more complicated than theory.
@lucianarios7681
@lucianarios7681 2 күн бұрын
@@jja2000 I would say that this separation is only possible up to a certain point. But Paak's honesty is something that I find interesting, he doesn't deny who he is, and seems to be trying to develop a process of maturity with his audience, both from a professional and personal point of view. Where it will go, I don't know. But this is something rare in an environment where people live on appearances. And it's worth remembering that none of us are finished, there is always room to improve.

The first album is a favorite of mine, but Knxwledge's production has improved massively with this album. It's kind of insane bc he was already amazing. Anderson .Paak has always been great at rapping and singing, but working with Bruno Mars (and Bootsie Collins) on Silk Sonic has clearly also helped his singing. Charlie Wilson used to be the lead singer in the Gap Band in the 70's. He sang on Computer Live, if you know that song. He fell on some really hard times, then got himself back together and went solo in the early 2000s. He's been featured on a lot of rap songs, too, especially Kanye albums. You've heard him before but don't remember it

@@chrilborn4138 I agree but I think smthn like Malibu is easier to get into. Malibu is filled with hits and "moments" that give you more opportunities to get attached to .Paak's style. This album def has hits, but it flows more like a front-to-back vibe album. Which is a good thing, but it might be harder for a new listener to hook onto. This album is addicting as hell tho- having a hard time deciding if I like it more than Malibu tbh. But if I was to try to introduce someone to .Paak, I'd start at Malibu. Bob is clearly rockin wit it tho

Please, i would die for more paak haha. Between Malibu and Oxnard i cant decide which one i want you to listen to more. Oxnard is a west coast style album with production by anderson and dr. Dre. With some absolute bangers and wicked sounding tracks. Features from Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Snoop dogg, Pusha T, Q-tip and more. Absolutely loaded album. While Malibu is much more personal and gives more insight on paak as a character, whith some production by himself, madlib more. Its my personal favourite album ever (either Malibu or thank you for your service by tribe cant tell) and its much more soul/funky and jazz rap oriented. Anderson paak truly is one of the greatest talents of the last decade. One of the best discographies ive heard.

He was the drummer at the Super Bowl. He plays the drums in most of his recorded stuff that needs live drums (non samples). You should check out Malibu 🔥

Bob just saying, probably any project of Knxwledge’s is worth checking out if someone hasn’t said it already. A lot of the same flow of this album appears on Knx’s own solo albums with really short cuts that just come in and go out in probably about a minute and a half on average. I’d recommend listening to Anthology (probably off camera given that it’s around 50 songs in length), Hud Dreems, the first NxWorries album, and even something like 1988. Hope you find this, and check him out. You won’t be disappointed!

Bob!! I hate you started with this album!!! Why lawd is the opposite side to the themes on Yes Lawd (their 1st album). This is a sequel! And the piece your missing is on Yes Lawd. That’s why this album is hard to grasp the theme if you haven’t heard Yes Lawd. The two albums are very much a package deal if you want to understand what’s happening. But basically this album is him struggling with a change of heart and outlook from his mindset on the 1st album which was basically the concept of him living life, having a lot of women, not really respecting them and having attachments he isn’t willing to commit too, along with having a very “I deserve” attitude about things and people he was so far from deserving anything from. So if you get a chance before your final thoughts, listen to Yes Lawd and this album will make complete sense.
