Well you don't need it to risk the lives of others to be entertained. The risk he's taking is betting the money. Of course the spikes weren't real probably form. The door slammed on laser was also probably from and the locks were either custom made to be picked easily or just needed something to be interested to be unlocked but all these challenges are real.

I can't help but think this was fake and Mack was given 100k to play along. Mack using the chair to break the bars and a coat hanger to unlock the locks seems scripted. Unless the lock had a simple mechanism that would be almost impossible.
