That's just not true... or at least misleading. He can charge it at home with solar panels, which is probably where it's going to sit charging mostly anyway. Gasoline cars are still at x1000 times more polluting and yes it does emit CO2 but it slashes the lifetime emmissions by an insane factor. There's already 1st world countries that are 50-100% running on renewable energy... and some US states are moving that direction

Also photovoltaics is a semiconductor (which means it's silicon) doped (which means sprinkled with atoms of another element) with a material that reacts to light and sheds an electron. Diodes, which only allow electrons to move in a wanted direction direct the electron movement toward a direction so that it can pass through a lightbulb before returning to the other part of the cell. The electron usually does work either by creating a magnetic field or making light, light is made from the rapid movement of electrons jumping further and closer to the nucleus... Anyways, PV manufacturing is making a glass sheet with some atoms of an alkali metal or so then create a sheet for a diode so that electrons cannot move in the unwanted direction, and then another sheet of a silicon with some sort of metarial with a missing valence electron. Light can put electrons hit by light into a higher energy state, and thus it moves. Anyways you're not going to emit more lifetime CO2 making sheets of glass than running an inefficient consumer vehicle. Try to not use toxic debate tactics...
