Light hearted stuff: Undertaker’s streak ending. Also anything involving The Fiend. In reality: The deaths of Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit were the most traumatic things in wrestling that I’ve went through(for different reasons obviously). I remember both of those days vividly(in Benoit’s case, I remember that whole week).

Trauma timeline: Fingerpoke of doom/"butts in seats" killed WCW for me Mae Young giving birth to a hand killed me watching religiously every week And WCW/ECW being bought and the Invasion storyline completely took me out of wrestling, (with a few exceptions of randomly catching moments like the pipebomb, Vince's "death", Vince getting crushed during the million dollar contest, and Mark Henry's "retirement") until around 2017.

To me it'll always be when I found out Eddie and later Benoit passed away. Two wrestlers that created an iconic moment at the end of WrestleMania XX, yet that'll never be recognized ever again. The internal conflict I had regarding Benoit made me believe the conspiracy theories at the time that he didn't do it. Now I know that he in fact did and deserves eternal condemnation for it, but the trauma this caused at the beginning never really went away. As for Eddie, it's simply heartbreaking. To this day, I can't watch the 10 bell salute video on KZbin without tearing up. His passing showed me just how much he meant to everybody, no other passing hit me as hard as this one.

Steve's not alone in that NXT 2.0 stuff. granted, it gave us a handful of the stars we've got right now, but I cannot fathom half the ideas that were coming through there. we were perhaps days away from Blake Christian wanting to be Cora Jade's literal superhero, and then I think like Dante Chen got hurt or Blake got released. and considering Blake Christian is now GCW World Champion and competing in the Best of the Super Juniors, that worked out way better for him but also showed how off target Vince was.

I guess for me the biggest trauma was Benoit's Death. This was a man who I respected, I enjoyed his matches and most of his feuds. In one night he lost all of it. I even had his wrestling figurine, but after that I kept in storage and months later I needed money for bills and I managed to sell it on Ebay. Yeah someone bought it. But it was very traumatic. He killed his wife and one of his sons. It left a really bad taste for wrestlers, the industry, wrestling fans and society. Another traumatic experience for me was Global Warning Tour. My first Wrestling event. I was a hulkamaniac and they advertised Hogan coming to Australia. So I was pumped. Then Hogan was pulled out at the last minute. In storyline Lesnar bear hugged him to death. This worked great Heyman used it for heat on the show. I was really upset and I blamed Lesnar for ruining my dream as a Hulkamaniac. I know stupid. I would get my chance to see Hogan at WM21 though. There's a good thing coming out of that night though. I got a photo with Kurt Angle and he was a great guy despite being a heel at the time, and it turns out Aussies love Kurt Angle and so they made him a babyface that night. Yeah that's kind of how I became a true Kurt Angle fan. I also found out from sources Hogan didn't want to fly to Australia. At first i didn't believe it, but over the years i've come to believe it and I see Hogan for who he really is. I respect him for what he's done for wrestling but these days I am not a hulkamaniac.

My kayfabe trauma was Austin beating Rock again in the cage match the night after Wrestlemania 17. I was 7 years old and devastated after WM and had so much hope Rock would get his revenge and win the title back, but he just got absolutely obliterated by Austin and HHH and then just… disappeared. Similarly, Hogan ramming Rock’s ambulance with the truck. I legitimately thought The Rock was murdered on television.

Plenty of wrestling trauma here but one that I always groan at is that time in....2018? Don't remember when but it was when backstage promos had random huge words pop up and when the Usos did that "LOCK DOWN" promo where they had animated jail bars closing WHILE they cut the promo in ring....and Shinsuke's huge "ROOOOCCCCKKKSSTAAARRRR" scrolling across the screen. I don't know if they were trying to appeal to a younger audience or maybe it was a social media thing but Jeeeeeeesus was it tough to watch

NXT 2.0 is a fascinating trauma; at the time it was a weird and terrible idea, a petty Vince move because Triple H lost the Wednesday night wars. It was weird with the more cartooney characters and Von Wagner pushes compared to Black and Gold, however over time it has become a brand that is consistently fun to watch and puts on great matches (especially at their PLEs). It started off terribly, but it has blossomed into a great show over time imho, so I can look past the beginnings of 2.0. -Also the memes that started on the Cultaholic wrestling podcast because of 2.0 are all timers, Come Tuesday was the gift that kept on giving- Edit: Austin having his Roman Reigns-esque trauma from the Shield breaking up

Christian dropping the WHC less than a week after winner it always chapped me the wrong way. That was one of the first instances where I realized how terrible Vince was with booking. Hell In A Cell 2019 was the show that made me stop watching WWE on a weekly basis. Watching Asuka and Shinsuke Nakamura both lose at WM 34 has always stung. Black and gold NXT gave me hope that WWE could create some very fun and interesting stars. Mania 34 showed that VKM didn't want to push a wrestler unless it was his creation. Edge and Bryan Danielson both being forced into medical retirement broke my heart. Watching both of them return and thrive again is what has made me fall in love with wrestling again.

For me it was either whenever a wrestler died tragically or were revelaed to be a terrible person, Eddie's death, Owen's fall, bray wyatt recently, Or for being a terrible person, Chris Benoit, brock recently (Allegedly) Hulk hogan, It's just disheartening to hear that people you looked up to were actually garbage people and it's just depressing for these people to die early, It must be sobering to realize that you're older than someone like owen was when he passed

Edge retiring. 2011 fucking sucked. I stopped watching from then on. And what's funny is that Edge wasn't even my favourite wrestler. He was in my top ten but when he retired I took a look around and saw that most of the guys I loved watching were either retired or on their way to retirement. Shawn had retired the previous year. Triple H was now the COO and barely Wrestling. Angle was in TNA, Rey was being a transitional champion in the literal sense (losing the title on the same day he won it) and the whole product was suddenly catering to children. Just wasn't the same for me.

My wrestling trauma was Money in the Bank 2016. I was 17 at the time and I couldn't handle the Shield Circle Jerk. (Being at a Sam's Town Casino live viewing party) The moment started my drinking problems. (Alcohol doesn't help me forget) I constantly say Daniel Bryan ruined my birthday. March, 10 2014 But with him "taking a break" because of his injuries, cured my trauma.

WCW’s cruiserweight division will never return. 205 was disappointing and the Speed championship means is a new 24/7 title.
