You are so lovely. It's nice to watch a reactor who understands the nuances and implications of each character's actions. There are so many people who see things in black and white and therefore miss the motivations behind decisions and behaviour. X

7:30 None of the characters are black or white, good or bad. They are all layered and complicated and they mess up sometimes, like real people do. This is part of the reason why I love this series so much. I can empathize with all the characters. I can get frustrated at all the characters over some of their actions. Some frustrate me more by continuing to make bad choices over and over again, but I don't hate them. They are so multi0-layered that I can see their perspective.

10:00 The growth we've seen from Wilhelm since S1E1 to now is incredible. 10:20 I agree!! He looks younger and more vulnerable when he's with Sara.

Hi! You asked about the book: it's "Kris" by Karin Boye, a famous Swedish author/poet (born 1900). Impressive that this (auto-bio-) book about homosexuality was published in the 1930's, paving the way for many others!
@EmberC Жыл бұрын
Yes, and it has English translation, which is great news for non-Swedish readers

I also feel like that ending was them being like, okay, we're gonna figure this out, even though we have no idea where to go. Just the pressure that's on all of them is total insanity, and I feel like things should be so much simpler in the 21st century damnit haha!

Of course! I just wish I could get round to them sooner. It’ll be much easier with Heartstopper Season 2 as the episodes are so much shorter.

12:13 Yes, Wille is so gutted that he goes to his room to vomit. I had hoped you'd show him all bundled up in his duvet/blanket in his room. Hurting and vulnerable.

A lot of people seem to think that Young Royals is a coming of age story, and/or a queer love story, potentially ending in tragedy. They're not all wrong, except that the main story archetype is "overcoming the monster". Which means the story will have a happy ending, because the purpose of the archetype is to show us that monsters can be beaten. And it's also great news for everyone who has a justice boner for Simon and Wille - they'll defeat the evil traditions and institutions upholding them. The coming revolution is revealed through parallels and foreshadowings, among them the match being lit right after Wille learnt the truth about his mother in the last episode of season one, and Revolution playing in the final scene as he breaks the 4th wall again, to him shutting the door in the face of his mother in the first episode of season two, and then proceeding to light August on fire. After a massive emotional growth journey overcoming his inner monsters, the season ends with Wille telling the truth, thus gaining the upper hand over his mother and her employees at the court. And the final fourth wall break when "The Most Beautiful Boy" song goes "it goes on, it goes on". Meaning the revolution goes on. Season 3 will end with either two (future) kings 💜👑👑💜 or the queen abdicating because of the massive public scandal of her protecting August, and her vigilante justice of wasting a decade of August's life with no intention of ever making him heir, in order to manipulate her own son. Either way, Wille is free from her grasp and can live his life however he wants, tossing toxic and harmful traditions on the rubbish heap as he sees fit. The truth is a powerful weapon when dealing with institutionalised generational lies and liars.

It is not that black and white about Simon and Wille, and about the series in general. There is no good/bad character. Wille deals with a lot of shit either. Nothing that we can relate to but still. I don't get why people seem to need to pick a side. There is not necessary one.I am sorry people give you a hard time. For me, it is relevant to empathize with al characters for different reasons. But some persons are not opened enough to succeed to empathize with person as Wille, too far from there own situation, because from another world. I also feel people tend to idealize Simon, and are completely blind when he is wrong. because he is like all characters. I agree about August. It is interesting that we see another side of him. I feel it is true for the 5 characters. We saw a new side of them: a Simon running away / petty, a Wille revenging, a Sara in love / ignoring her family, an August powerless / in love, maybe not for Felice. Yes it is a real book. This is complex I agree. So many ends possible. I see what you mean about Simon and Wille being in the same place at the end. I feel Wille gained back Simon's trust with some of his actions. And Simon decided to stop running way from it, even if it is complicate. There is no ideal solution, sure. The court will still try to separate them, but it maybe worth a try? Sorry for the updates. I write all along your review.😁

I agree with all your points. I don't see the need to pick sides. I want things to work out for them all. The book scene and the end scene are so important in mending Simon and Wille's relationship. I hadn't thought of it, but yes, they are both finally in the same place by the end of this episode.

@@lynnhettrick7588 Yes cool. I am grateful for such complex characters and situations. are able to appreciate the character's flaws, and love them anyway, because they are valid in their own perspective, and it feels more realistic that way. "Being at the same place" yes Jackie has something here. I feel, since Wille share of many important information with Simon, the trust is coming back, and Simon is ready to try again.
