When he says “I’m gay, dad” he’s not coming out in passing, he’s reminding his dad of something he already should know but seems to have forgotten. That’s why the dad relies with “oh right, a cute guy, then”. So actually that scene wasn’t showing that he’s accepting in passing but that he forgets about significant aspects of his children’s personality. For me it means that the dad means well but is wrapped up in his own issues (later we find out he has adhd).

Honestly I personally thought it was him talking more from personal experience except, since he’s straight, he would’ve done it for a ‘cute girl’ and it almost felt like Simon was indirectly saying “I’m not like you”? I could be wrong though, idk.

This show is heavily based on the two boarding schools we have in Sweden. They have made A LOT of research there. The swedish king and the prince went to them. August and his friends look down on Simon bc he is working/middleclass ”poor”. In Sweden you can go to any school free of charge but the boarders pay a LOT to stay there.

With the fact that the boys and girls eat separately, that’s less to do with separating by gender and more to do with separating by house. So, the boys we see eating are the Forest Ridge boys, and the girls are the Major House girls but, there are other houses. It’s for convenience more than anything. Plus, since it’s a boarding school, they need to eat breakfast and dinner/tea there and it’s just much more convenient for them to stay in one building until classes rather than have them traipsing across the school.

I just found out you did Young Royals reaction, here's my running commentary to your reactions: You're the fastest to pick up on the singing foreshadowing Wilmar. Wow. I've watched countless reactions, less than a handful noticed the singing was the start. Kudos! For next season, use regular english subtitles, not CC. Regular is more accurate. You're so quick at noticing emotional stuff, like with Felice. I really like that. You deserve a ton of views. I laughed out loud when you said you'd be a non-boarder after the hazing scenes, thanks I needed that. I LOVE how Simon roasted those privileged *cencored*. Wilhelm did too lol but I'm 99% sure nobody has ever been frank with him like that before. Sarah and August DAMN you're a prophet man! Yeah Simon sang his way straight into Wilhelm's heart. I think he liked it because it is something real, and wilhelm is so starved of authenticity and genuine human connection in his life that when he finds it...he falls so hard so fast. Thank you for this, I really enjoyed it. Here's to you finding someone to partner up with for editing

Don't know if you've been recommended this series at all, or if you've watched it, but there's this Norwegian show called SKAM (there's like a ton of different versions, Belgium vers was one of my favs). The 3rd season blew up a few years ago. High school type narrative that people praise as a pretty realistic modern high school experience, and touches on like a ton of stuff (mental health, religion, even the pandemic etc). The way they released it was like clips that matched with the day and time so you felt like it was happen irl in that moment. Characters have instagram accounts that are actively used by the actors to further build the "reality" of the show. Pretty cool. So yeah! Idk why this show made me wanna mention it, but there ya go 😂

Omg I am SO happy that you reacted to this! The series is from Sweden which is where I'm from ^^ it's actually a bit weird seeing someone from USA reacting to a series in swedish lol, especially since I don't have to concentrate to understand. Regarding the booze, the minimum legal drinking age in Sweden is 18 and so Simon's dad is illegally selling alcohol to minors. Hope that helped clear some stuff up ^^

Don't worry, I won't spoil anything you didn't say. For instance, you saw : W. not comfortable to be under the light, in the club. W. disapproval of royalty rules, during the statement. W. anxiety issue, during the statement. A. using people as his slaves, in the suit case holding, and for the alcohol. W. as an outsider, in the suit case picture. The school conflict of interest / authority towards royalty. A. misogynous behavior, in the marriage conversation at church. The elitist non boarding segregation. The brotherhood importance, for W. and Si. Sa. disrespectful behavior towards her mother, at Si. and Sa. meal. Sa. wanting to be more than she is, at Si. and Sa. meal. Real teenagers playing, in the school meal . Gender separation, in the school meal. Si. being a fighter, in the politic class discussion. Normalization of sexual preferences, in Si. and his dad talk. A. wanting to be more than he is, at the party. A. and Sa. being a match. W. seeing something special in Si. personality by the way he sings. The fact they hide to have a bit of privacy, at the party. Whouah I am impressed you saw all of this. This will definitively be the base for the whole story.

the guy interrupting the singing is one of the snobby upper class students. He is essentially dissing the singer who is one of the lower class students attending the school on a day basis---he does not live at the school. It is common for these elite boarding schools to have a number of "charity" non boarders attend.

Is doesn't have to be a good sign. This season two is 10000% a good sign but i don't know. Netflix cancelled season two of Julie and the Phantoms and this is one of the best series Netflix ever made🥺 they won so much awards and the quotes are so positive. Jahr got 98% of good reviews. So I can't understand their decision to cancel it😔 maybe the fandom will change it. We got over 100.000 signatures in just a few days so wish us luck🍀
