Golden age of rap worldwide, at that time we had racionais at their peak, 509e on the rise, ndee Naldinho, MV Bill among others.

As musicas foram gravadas todas com eles ainda dentro da prisão como parte de um projeto cultural do governo relacionado a reabilitação dos presos! (projeto “Talentos Aprisionados”, uma iniciativa do sistema prisional do Estado de São Paulo) / Dexter foi preso porque não tinha dinheiro para gravar o seu primeiro album, então recorreu a um assalto com esse objetivo. Na época ele ja conhecia o mano brown.. A história da banda é bem interessante :)

The group was formed by Dexter and Afro-X, two poor young people, born in Vila Calux, on the violent outskirts of São Bernardo do Campo, in the ABC region of São Paulo. It was through the Só Rap label, from the Atração label, that 509-E's debut album, named Proverbios 13, was released with 12 tracks, in the second quarter of 2000. Before that, they recorded the track "Barril de Pólvora", on the album Brazil 1: Escadinha Fazer Justiça com as Próprias Mãos, released by former Rio de Janeiro bandit and fellow prisoner José Carlos dos Reis Encina, better known as "Escadinha". At that time, December 1999, the duo was known as Front Line. In addition to their talent on vocals, Proverbs 13's team of producers, formed by Mano Brown and Edi Rock (both from Racionais MC's), DJ Hum (Thaide's partner) and MV Bill managed to promote the group. They also had the support of the "Godmother of Prisoners", the actress Sophia Bisilliat, creator of the project "Talentos Imprisonados", an initiative of the prison system of the State of São Paulo. In August, 509-E was introduced to Brazil, when it competed with the clip for "Só os forte" in two categories, Best Rap Video and Audience Choice, on MTV's Video Music Brasil. The victory did not come, but the space given to the group opened several doors for Dexter and Afro-X. The consecration took place on November 14, 2000, when 509-E won the HUTÚZ award for revelation group of the year. The trip of the rappers from São Paulo to a theater in Rio de Janeiro to receive the award, with the right to an air bridge and everything, led Rede Globo to produce two articles about the musical work of Dexter and Afro-X. The group, however, was at its peak when things started to go downhill. Invited to a debate on Rede Globo, the duo attracted the attention of the authorities due to the content of the lyrics of their songs. They became enemies of the police, mainly after the rebellion that resulted in the extinction of Carandiru. After this episode, the group was banned from performing on the street. After a while, Afro-X was released and 509-E released their second and final work, MMII DC (2002 After Christ).The two members began to fall out creatively and the group ended in 2003. Currently, Dexter pursues a solo career and has released two albums; Afro-X stayed in rap for a while, moved away and back again, married singer Simony,and is currently an educator.
