"WE ARE" "BABYMETAL" - yes, you got it, it is how they end their shows - and they don't mean just them, they mean everybody there. They had originally been booked to play a small side stage or tent with maybe a couple of thousand in the audience, but they were creating a buzz and getting some interest on line after the 'Gimme Chocolate' video went viral, so the organisers (giving them a couple of months notice) bumped them up to open the main stage on the Saturday ... not normally a busy time at Sonisphere. There were rumours of some in the crowd being prepared to boo (or worse, bottle) them off stage as a "gimmick or joke band mocking metal". The girls were worried about that, then from backstage they couldn't see the crowd and worried nobody had come to see them at all and what they should do in that case. They only saw the size of the crowd when they did walk out on stage. They saw the puzzled looks on most of the faces, Su is reported as saying she was thinking to herself "This will be fun" (she was still only 16 and her first time in the UK, first big show in the west and didn't even speak the language). Moa's headset failed and she missed the cue for the start of the choreo ... she picked it up quickly though - and they opened with 'BABYMETAL Death', which surprised the crowd (try that one for your next reaction - from Legend 1997 again). As they played each song the smiles and jumping etc spread from the front to the back of the crowd and they ended with this song and, as you heard, the crowd calling for "one more song" 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (ee-ji-meh dah-meh zet-tie .... call it IDZ, nearly everybody else does) means 'Bullying, No More, Forever' so the choreo and fighting reflect what the song is about. Yes, as you saw Yui's skirt caught on her studded wrist band and tore - she never missed a beat.

"I should have my kids listen to BabyMetal." Yes you should. All of their songs (when you read the lyrics) are all positive and promote helping people. Once I heard BabyMetal I knew my daughter (5 at the time) would love it and we just went together to see them live in 2019. Great show, great band, great message....even if you don't understand the words, the feeling comes through in the vocals. The name of the song translates to 'Bullying, No, Never'. It says something powerful in the lyrics like 'when someone gets bullied, its not just the person getting bullied that suffers, its the person doing the bullying AND everyone watching and doing nothing about it.' We Are The One.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🚫 And… that's how you win over metalheads on your first UK appearance. Sonisphere can be a really tough crowd if they don't like you. My favorite part of 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' is still the part where Su-metal threatens to kick Yui and Moa in the head if they don't stop bullying each other. And their anti-bullying song gets some of the biggest mosh pits. : )

So another part of the BabyMetal lore was added to the Legend ( which they are) since this appearance they have played to sell out shows and well received at festival's across the world . They have had sell out shows and appeared at a festival every year in the UK since this Sonisphere appearance ( although 2015 Download appearance was unofficial) The organisers of Download said they would never play there . Dragon Force invited them to have a look around as they had a show later in the week in London . So they turned up in full costume word got round .Dragon Forces marque got swarmed by fans . BabyMetal where invited on stage and done 2 songs with Dragon Force. Road of Resistance and Gimme chocolate . The crowd went nuts . Next year BabyMetal where asked to play main stage at Download 2016 just a coincidence? Only the foxgod knows ( you will hear that a lot) but another chapter in the lore of BabyMetal. Ijime, Dame, Zettai translates as Bullying, No More, Forever. This is an iconic moment in Babymetal's history. Su aged 17 and Moa and Yui aged 15 got to play their first major European Metal festival at Sonisphere in the UK, in front of 65,000 Metal heads who were waiting for Metallica and had mostly never heard of Babymetal. Babymetal won them over easily and ended with this song, the best Metal song about stopping bullying ever. PS Your words at 2:30 were awesome and will have won you the hearts of Babymetal's fans worldwide (May the Fox God bestow a billion views upon you). Keep on with the Babymetal live reactions, man, as I could see it really clicked when you watched Headbanger and this will cement it. 7:23 - Yui's skirt had ripped and isn't usually like that but she'd got too energetic in the fighting with Moa bit (the song is about fighting and bullying and not doing it).
