REACTION: Jim Lee Batman & Robin DEAD END Dark Knight Returns 1/4 Statue | Prime 1 Studio! Prime 1 Studio is proud to present a statue born out of the best and rarest comic book cover from the Dark Knight III Master Race, joining our Ultimate Premium Masterline Series: Batman & Robin Dead End Ultimate Bonus Version.
The original cover was drawn by none other than Master Illustrator and DC Creative Chief Officer Jim Lee himself. Prime 1 Studio has taken upon another great challenge to recreate Jim’s thrilling cover. Surely, the sculptors and painters have outdone themselves once again to fully capture the grim mood of Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Universe!
Just under 17 inches tall, this diorama packs so many details as it recreates such an impactful scene of the series. The Batman, suffering from a stab wound the Joker finds himself cornered deep within the Tunnel of Love, Gotham authorities at his tail. Alongside the Dark Knight is his trusted sidekick Carrie Kelley in her Robin suit, trying to escape from the GCPD’s arrest, as the Joker’s murder would be pinned onto Batman.
The Ultimate Version has floated in the water the Joker’s corpse, having laughed his last laugh after breaking his own neck. He may be dead, but his expression of pure ecstasy persists even after death, as for him, he has succeeded in making Batman lose control of his very own morals. This version also comes with an additional head bearing a different expression which allows you to choose and display it to your liking.
The Ultimate Bonus Version has floated in the water the Joker’s corpse with a swappable Portrait with a Batarang lodged in his right eye, having laughed his last laugh after breaking his own neck. I've read it and honestly it's not going to make it into my personal Top 10 Batman stories. I feel like the Batman design is just a bit too wide and I wasn't a big fan of the story either. Some statues based on the animated Long Halloween character designs or the Talltale Games Batman would be cool to see.

1400$ (not counting shipping) for essentially a 1/5 statue that they’re trying to pass off as “quarter scale”. This is getting ridiculous. I’m not a DKR fan but was considering adding this to my collection cause it looks amazing, but for that price I might have to skip

I'd prefer the $675 Sideshow Batman to this Batman, if I'm trying to get a Batman. If I want a diorama scene with Batman and other characters, this is obviously pretty cool. But woof that price of $1400 is steep, add on a couple hundred shipping plus tax and you're looking at $1600-1700 for a 1/4th scale. If you're getting this, the deluxe is the only way to go though. Speaking of expensive 1/4th scale, can't ignore some of XM Studios prices though by comparison. Some of their X-Men 1/4th scale are over $1000 now for a sole character, like Beast...ouch. At least the shipping is generally under $100 for these.

$1400 for a 19 inch statue. No thank you. Once again, collectors with modest means are priced out of another piece. Keep it up companies and you will lose a big chunk of your clientele. And that will affect your profit margins.

Unlike you, I love the storyline I love Frank Miller’s work on it. I love my Sideshow Premium format that I just got. And it’s because of that then I’m not as drawn to this statue, it combines the end of Batman‘s fight with a mutant leader, with the end of book 3, where he fights, the joker Robins never in the Tunnel of love, and th sticks in my craw… I’m probably alone on this because it looks good, but that would always bother me.

this is amazing! the only thing I don't care for is batman's head, I'm not a fan of Jim Lee's drawling of Miller's batman. I will think about getting this AFTER final product pictures come out. The price is good because of multiple characters.

So the Pros: Prime 1- Great execution. It looks fantastic. Inspired by my favorite Artist. Jim Lee. (That alone makes me want it). The choices of which version to buy. The swap outs for the heads for Batman and Joker. Cons: Price point Size That’s my opinion. To be honest just the fact it’s inspired by Jim Lee’s work makes me want it. What we all agree on is that with the price points we all have to be selective and choose what’s best for our collection. Although a statue may be amazing we sometimes have to make the hard calls. Then pass on some great pieces. I think all things considered I would have to pass. Not an easy thing to do but that’s the call. But I do love it.

Like you I think it's a great looking piece but for the price I agree that it's too small... I get that it's 3 1/4 scale figures, but I still think it's overpriced and I'm someone who collects a lot of Dark Knight Returns statues so its a miss for me at this time... But we've all said that before and re decided later so time will tell lol

I myself watched the animated movies for this and dig the vibes I’m not a big bat man fan but the dkr movies got me into the comics and then into the bat family even more but damm the price hurts but I just might break bank for this piece if I do it will also be my only prime one piece I would own

Financially Times are challenging for most collectors, for me personally I can only afford 1-2 pieces a year so for $1400 I would sooner opt for the 1/3 poison ivy or the penguin. It looks a great piece though, just doesn't give me the wow factor

I don't understand why this piece is called Master Race, It's not based on the Master Race tale, must be a marketing ploy. Master Race, as the title suggests, deals with Nazis! Shame they didn't incorporate the crazed Nazi chick with the Swastika nipples rather than the Joker who isn't actually in the tale apart from an issue #1 variant cover. A very weak piece!

For me is a huge pass. I think the art is good & the price is expensive, but I will say it’s not too bad. However it’s not the price that is going to stop some collectors I think it’s the shipping because if Prime1 still charges $400 or $500 in shipping then this will make it wayyy too expensive & not worth it.

Prime 1 confirmed that the Joker is not magnetized - with and without the Joker are two separate statues. You should fix this video or make an addendum to clarify this before people start making purchases based off your statement that the Joker is magnetized.

The diorama is fantastic. Its detail and storytelling aspect are fabulous. Prime1 is offering two possibly three characters in the diorama and that’s wonderful. However, it’s expensive for the size and then when shipping is factored in the price goes even higher. So, I don’t know, it just seems like too pricey. I understand that everything’s higher in price these days but I think that the manufacturers and everyone else involved in making these pieces don’t realize that they might be killing or at least seriously decreasing their consumer base and prospective buyers.

I'm feeling the same way about it. It's a cool piece with the Deluxe version. But definitely I'm not sold on this statue for some reason. I don't feel like it's a must have when there are so many other pieces yet to be released. With prices being the way they are, I feel I have to be more picky or particular on pieces I truly feel I need to have. If I did Deluxe would definitely be the way to go.

This is a fantastic sculpt, fenomenal diorama. The art of Jim Lee is really stunning so it's very positive to see this in statue form. The price of the regular seem "reasonable 😁" for the regular imo, but with shipping and import this will be priced very high. Prime 1 is doing a fenomenal job with their new 1/4th DC. So I hope that will keep bringing out new 1/4 pieces. I won't order because this doesn't fit in my collection, but congrats for everyone who is buying 👍👏👏👏💪 and Prime 1 keep up doing this fenomenal job 👍👏👏

@@stukavonferno8858 I may be wrong, but I thought that Jim Lee drew the variant cover for issue number 1 if I remember right. DK3 issue 1. The variant cover is from Jim Lee and the statue is based on that cover. But again I could be wrong, there a so many comics and covers and series. Sometimes its difficult to seperate them 😁👍

Wonder what way the water works, I can’t see any seams from it sitting in, that water just stays there and the water splashes are attached to Joker himself, or that entire water piece is different for the Joker version.

Yeah I'm guessing the splashes are just attached to the joker sculpt and he magnetizes right into the flat water surface.

I think it’s a fair price. In my opinion you just can’t beat prime 1 detail and paint right now. I’m not a fan of the story so it’s an easy pass for me but I’m sure other collectors will love having it.

The cost isn’t too bad for 3 characters, the 1/4 scale Berserker armor Guts that I’ve bought is $1,449 and it’s just 1 character, the astral Schierke is not a full character, she’s just like a ghost on his shoulder.

If you are a fan of the source material then that cover is not the best choice. It's full of inconsistencies: Robin is not there in that moment, the bat suit is wrong and even the injury is in wrong place. Jim Lee did what he wanted to do and that's is okay but take this cover to make a high end collectible...I wouldn't say it's a smart choice. Anyways the Batman portraits looks horrible imo, not bad, horrible. So easy pass.
